Great cutter/colorist/salon 6/18/2010

Love the work of Cathy Koyama. My hair always looks natural, and never has the look of being colored, which I love. I'm in my late 50's with a lot of gray, but you would never guess......my hair looks the best part of me! Found Cathy by chance two years ago when my regular stylist became scissor happy one day...........she has helped me get my hair back in the best shape ever. Cathy is a doll..........give her a try, you will not be sorry. She has a great dog too (Bailey) who is her love. The staff at the salon are always pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Bellevues all time best Salon 6/10/2010

I have been to JBU about 10 or 11 times so far, and each time, I've had a great experience. Each time, I have gone to Cathy for my haircuts, and each time, she has yet to amaze me in the quality of her work. I highly recommend her. The environment as soon as I walked in was was a breath of fresh air from the other salons that I had entered. They offer you a drink: from Coffee's to Tea's to Water. The scenery inside is just splendid; the lighting and atmosphere is just serene. You'll have to go there to believe me, and trust me, its entirely worth it. The only con to the place is the amount of parking they have at times. But they do offer extra parking, which is only about 25 feet away. haha. JBU is a great salon. Very friendly atmosphere and little to no Eastside attitude from the clientele. Cathy is always fantastic. She has many loyal clients because she not only knows how to style or color hair--she knows how to CUT hair. She also knows what will and won't work for you if you are thinking about trying something new. If something won't work, she will be able to recommend something that will make you very happy. The only negative is the parking in the complex can get full, however, just about everything is within walking distance in downtown Bellevue, so drop the Bellevue drive-a-block-mentality and take a short walk over to Salon JBU. Worst layer cut 5/22/2010

I have fine hair and received the worst layer cut of my life. No one complimented my new haircut, but instead asked me what happened. I'd gone here based on the other reviews and I'm so sorry I did. It's been 3 weeks and I'm on my way to somewhere new to get it fixed. \r \r Please don't tell folks that call that anyone can cut fine hair because they can't. Finally... 2/20/2010

Ever since I moved to Bellevue about 2.5 years ago, I've been on the hunt for a great stylist, not just a mediocre one that will ""do"" if I have to settle. After several disappointments, I finally found Carrie. She actually knew how to give me a funky cut that was flattering and edgy (I swear no one else knows how to do that in this town!). My color turned out AMAZING, and my horribly fried trashtastic, frizzed out, broken hair turned out as a shiny fiery red that I love. I would recommend her to anyone! more

I was referred to Shannon from a friend. I liked how flexible Shannon was because my schedule can be hectic, with me going out of town alot for work.\r I told Shannon that I wanted something different with my hair. I wanted a new look, with different color and cut. \r When Shannon was done, I felt like a different person. My hair looked so great!! I couldn't believe how the color of my hair made my eyes stand out. It was as if Shannon made the color match my eyes! I was impressed with the cut as well, it was sassy and I've never received so many compliments!\r I would (and have) recommend Shannon for anyone who wants a different hair look or even someone just wanting to update or maintain their hairstyle. I've heard of Gwen from so many of my friends for years but have been loyal to my hairdresser for the last 15years. I've been so unhappy with my recent cuts so I went in search of a new hairdresser. Gwen was easy to talk to, she had so much technical knowledge which made me instanly relax in her chair. Her approch was very refreshing and my cut still looks great when I do it myself. The reviews on here are very accurate; she has a spunky personality which was fun. I just tried booking my last appointment online and it was very quick and convenient since the salon is closed. I'm delighted that Lori Lunsmann is now with the salon. I have been a client of Lori's for years. She's so good at what she does. Lori listens to me and as a team, we create a hair style. This is my first time on CitySearch and I am so happy there is a place to tell people how happy I am! Ive been having a hard time finding a stylist I liked. It was my first time at Salon JBU and a friend refered me to Megan. She's young, trendy and very professional. I absolutely loved what she did with my hair. Gwen is the best! 1/10/2009

I had been growing out my short cut for 5 months and was at the end of my rope. My previous stylist is retiring so I took my time finding someone new. I found Gwen online, she gets rave reviews. I thought I would give her a try and am so glad I did. I love that I can schedule an appointment online. In 30 minutes she did a consult, shampoo, cut and style. She really listened to me and I came out with exactly what I had in mind. I could not be more pleased. The salon is nicely furnished and not at all pretentious. Gwen is an artist and I highly recommend her. Pros: Online booking, comfortable waiting area, not pretentious Cons: It would be nice to have a place to hang my coat! more

I was going to the same stylist for a long time and was ready for a change! I found Megan at Salon JBU and had a cut and color done. I couldnt have enjoyed my time with her more. She was very honest and her opinion was very educated. She knew right away what I meant and how I felt about my hair. I felt so calm and comfortable with her and I knew she would point me in the right direction. This is the best my hair has looked in years! I can actually say I love my hair now thanks for Megan.
