Wouldn't recommend. Food is sometimes good, but service is so poor annoyance will ruin any pleasure the meal provides. If you do go, watch and make sure you actually get what you pay for, as lousy service frequently leads to incorrect entrees that sat out too long and overcharging. more

Love it or hate it 2/20/2012

I personally love Sadie's lunch menu and the #1 SMALL Combination plate. SMALL is not what it is and will fill you up guaranteed. Whole pinto Beans, Papitas, rolled enchilada with seasoned ""Billies Beef"", chile relleno with a good tasting green chile inside, not dripping with to much cheese, just the right amount, smothered with red or green chile, melted cheese lettus, tomato, and onion, on top of everything and a taco with he billies beef ,cheese and garnish. I love it with just the green chili all for $7.95. Now, the lunch price is so much better than the dinner price for the same items. This I don't like. Sopaipillas are not the greatest but are ok, Servers can get a lot better. Fast but some times to fast and they miss out on the service. The bussers who bring you the best salsa in the west are more attentive and interact with you more than your actual server. The goal is to turn over the tables as fast as possible, and you can tell that. Not a place to sit and relax unless you eat in the bar area. more

Sadies has changed 5/18/2011

A little history about Sadies. It used to be located in a bowling alley just south of their new restaurant. Back in 1977 they had the best tacos and enchiladas. The taco shells were individually fried.Everything was fresh.Sadies was excellent They were also located in another area prior to the bowling alley. This was genuine New Mexican food, not Mexican. Both are good, but different. I was born and raised in NM and my family goes back many generations. I have seen New Mexican restaurants come and go. Many were very good, but Albuquerque was not a very big city back then. The original owners of Sadies have since sold to someone else. And the food is not what it was in 1977. The salsa is good. A place you might try is Barela's on 2nd street about a block north of Cesar Chavez.. Needless to say Sadies has changed considerably. I won't go back. It is difficult to find genuine New Mexican food. more

Always a pleasure. 5/12/2011

I am a regular. Their quality of food and service has always been very good. The one time I did have a problem with a server, the manager was very apologetic and professional. more

More than a one night stand! 8/27/2010

If you have just one night to enjoy the flavor of New Mexican food in Albuquerque, stop at Sadie's. more

Good food but......... 1/25/2010

Good food but the place is crowded and the service could use a little work. When my husband and I went we were sat at a table so small that our knees touched and it couldn't hold all the food. Needs work on that particular thing more

Great Authentic Mexican Food 3/18/2009

This place was recommended by 2 friends and this place was great! I grew up on authentic Mexican food (homemade by my Hispanic grandmother) and this place was excellent! The food is spicy, but if you actually read the menu it explains this! I personally like it that way! I had the Chile Rellanos and my boyfriend had the Enchiladas Carne Avado and they were both great. They were both smothered with lettuce, cheese and etc, but again if you actually read the menu it does tell you this. We also ordered the Queso, it was average. I can't believe people actually gave this place bad reviews. But the complaints don't make any sense to me since I read the menu and know what Authentic Mexican food taste like. The waitress make have taken a minute to get to us, but you could tell she was busy... the place was PACKED! Any place that is crazy busy on a Wednesday night is usually good! Will go back for sure! Pros: Great Salsa! Cons: I ate too much! more

This is NOT Mexican food! 2/21/2009

My Husband and I decided to take a trip to Albuquerque, and upon arriving I asked a local where to get the best and most AUTHENTIC NEW MEXICAN food in town. The response was of course, Sadie's Cocinita... So, we decided to give it a try, arriving on a Saturday evening to a FULLY packed parking lot and restaurant, with an hour and a half wait! We hung around and eventually were seated, which by this time I was about to die of starvation. I ordered the Blue corn enchiladas, since blue corn tortillas are a rare find in San Antonio; while my Husband ordered the combo plate (a Chile Relleno and cheese enchilada.) We literally placed our order the moment we sat down, and less than 5 minutes later? You guessed it, our food was placed in front of us- a little too fast for me. Upon seeing the plate in front of me, my first impression was: ""I didn't order a SALAD, where are my enchiladas?"" Pros: Attentive servers Cons: Horrible food, greasy, overpriced and abhorable. more

Great New Mexican Food. 1/22/2009

Great resteraunt. Authentic New Mexican Food and at a decent price. Pros: Awesome EVERYTHING Cons: Long wait times (still worth it) more

Best New Mexican Food! 12/8/2008

Sadie's is crowded, loud, and the wait times to get seated can be pretty ridiculous.\r \r However, if you want authentic, phenomenal New Mexican cuisine, you have to go. The chicken enchiladas are a fave, and you have to try their salsa, which they market and sell around the US. \r \r Have a Negra Modelo in the bar after you put your name on the list - the food is worth the wait! more

Best Mexican Food 10/16/2008

I love this place but the wait times are horrendous. It keeps me from ever going back and that is a shame because their food is outstanding. Go at an off time to eat and you will get in. Forget it on Fri. or Sat. nights! more

Waaay Overrated 5/18/2008

This is my first time in New Mexico so I checked out city search to find some good mexican food. This was my first stop. Overall, not recommended. Pros: great service Cons: tasteless burritos more

I'll NEVER go back! 3/5/2008

As a former 4 star restaurant manager, I believe I'm a good judge of service, food quality and value. I travel often and don't expect 4 star service or food quality for that matter at a restaurant such as this. However, I do expect to be greeted by my server before 20 minutes goes by. Then when the food is served it's practicly dropped on the table, cheese and red sauce is dripping off the edge of the plate and it looks like a 4yr old plated it. The marinated pork under all the cheese was quite good but that's about the best I can say for this restaurant. The sopapillas were not even that good! If you want great Southwest Mexican food try ""Cafe Au Lait"" in old town instead. It's better food, service & value by far. more

When in Albuquerque, don't miss Sadies 1/31/2008

Sadies may offer the best Mexican food in Albuquerque, but you be the judge. Go for the enchiladas and burritos. Good food, good service, good value. more

Way over rated 12/5/2007

This place is huge which proves that it's popular, but it's way overrated. Service was poor, food was only OK. Try any other place around and you'll probably do better than here... more

Best mexican in Albuquerque! 10/18/2007

They need to open more of these restaurants - this place has awesome food! We love eating here about once a month and are never disappointed. The decor could use some updating, but the food makes up for it. Try our favorite - the El Roberto Special - to DIE FOR! Everything is great here, salsa, enchiladas, margaritas. The place is very popular and we know why - all the locals love it. Pros: FOOD, good service, prices Cons: Decor maybe?? more

Food Tainting for My Entire Family 8/6/2007

Sadies used to be my family's favorite place to eat. Good food, great prices... But 6 of us got such bad food TAINTING on May 6th of this year that we were all down and out for 4 days with the affects lasting at least a week after that. We tried to contact Sadie's management to get a refund for the money we spent on tainted food and we were given the run around by them. Be careful if you eat here. Pros: Good price Cons: tainted food and poor customer service more

Simply the best in ABQ! 10/22/2006

Among the very competitive Mexican restaurant scene, this place wins hands down in my book. It is true that a couple of places may have better atmosphere but the food is so much better than the atmosphere restaurants that there is no contest. It is hot and be warned but you can always ask for your green on the side if you're a wimp! Pros: The wonderful green chile Cons: The long lines waiting ahead of you more
