This place was recommended by 2 friends and this place was great! I grew up on authentic Mexican food (homemade by my Hispanic grandmother) and this place was excellent! The food ...

A little history about Sadies. It used to be located in a bowling alley just south of their new restaurant. Back in 1977 they had the best tacos and enchiladas. The taco shells we...

Excellent service and food and varied menu. 8/10/2006

I liked every aspect of our visit. I had a combination and it was excellent and generous. The papitas and green chile were super! My wife had a steak and it was very good. The only negative was the house dressing on the salad as it had a bitter taste. Pros: Tasty, generous portions Cons: Salad dressing more

terrible 7/16/2006

Went here based on the other reviews on this site. Waitstaff strongly suggested the burgers for lunch tauting them as ""what the restaurant is known for."" I was served the most greasy burger and fries I have even seen in my life. It was horrible...and they left off the guacamole I ordered...and I had food but no forks. I did taste everything and it wasn't worth the time it took me to order and wait for food. The taste of old grease is very hard to get rid of. I will not go back. Cons: food, decor more

Best New Mexican Food 6/12/2006

I grew up in the Southwest and have eaten at many Mexican and New Mexican restaurants. I haven't found any as good as Sadie's. Albuquerque has many good to great restaurants, but Sadie's is definitely my favorite. The carne adovada is great in all of it's forms--plain, enchilada or stuffed sopapilla. I've had many of the other dishes, as well, and they've all been very flavorful. The portions are huge. I have always had good, attentive service there, even when the place is packed, which is usually. It is noisy, so don't go there for a quiet romantic getaway. Pros: Taste, service, festive atmosphere Cons: Noise more

Best New Mexican Food in Albuquerque 5/3/2006

There is a difference between New Mexican and Mexican food, this is the place to learn the difference. The menu selections are the similar but the flavorings are different. My big gripe is that it is a long drive from the Northeast Heights but maybe that adds to the adventure. It is noisy and crowded because everything else about it is so good. Pros: Food, Service, Parking Cons: Noisy, Crowded, Hard to reach more

Put Some Fire in Your Belly! 12/5/2005

A random find while on business, this homestyle New Mexican food is worth fighting the crowds for. If you can't stand heat in your meal, stay away from this kitchen. The salsa and the carne adovada left me sweating like a politician on election day. They weren't just hot, they were perfectly flavorful and are tempered by extinguishing them with a cold one from their respectable beer list. Portions are also large. The dining room is crowded and the servers are bustling. While they are very friendly, they are so busy that they can be inattentive at times which is the only negative (a minor one). Bottom line: You'll leave Sadie's Hot but not Hungry! Pros: The Slow Burn, Friendly Service, Plenty of Parking Cons: The Crowd more

Terrific Service 11/11/2005

The food here is great and the service even better. They make their salsa and dishes deliciously spicy, the prices are reasonable, and the waitstaff is friendly, attentive, and professional. If you're looking for a good and casual New Mexican restaurant, I think that Sadie's is the ideal spot. Pros: Food, Service, Margaritas Cons: Somewhat noisy, No reservations more

Sadie's atmosphere 5/19/2004

Sadies is an amazing place to eat. They can cater large groups, handle a huge crowed, and all have smiles. Their salads are perfect with thier special dressing. The service is constant and their is never an empty glass or chip bowl. Pros: Inexpensive, lunch specials, atmosphere more

All there is to know... 7/23/2003

...about Mexican food is Sadie's. We live a couple blocks away, and end up there at least once a week if not more. The margaritas pack quite a punch, as does the chile. The only thing bad thing I can say is that they do not accept phone-in to go orders, so If I want to take dinner home, I have to sit at the bar (not a terrible thing, but sometimes inconvenient) more

not taco bell 8/11/2002

My children and I had just come to New Mexico from Alaska. Their previous introduction to Hispanic food was Taco Bell. Being in New Mexico they wanted authentic food so Sadie's was the obvious choice. After munching the delicious chips and salsa, the kids must have drunk three sodas apiece. Obviously they weren't in Alaska anymore. My carne adovada was perfect and the kids wanted to know what that huge thing on their plate was. Service was great and the atmosphere was so comfortable. Definately my favorite place. Cons: no reservations more

Best in the USA 8/7/2002

I have travelled exzclusively for the last 30 years and the one restaurant I visit at least twice a week when I am in Albuquerque is SADIE'S. This is the finest, tastiest New Mexican/Mexican resataurnat in the USA bar none. more

Best Traditional Cooking 7/24/2002

If you ever get homesick for some great new mexican food then you must stop at Sadie's. You will not leave the table with a empty plate, they are just to huge to finish. The food tastes as if it was just prepared from scratch. It's THE BEST New Mexican restaurant in the city Pros: Large Portions, Fast Seating, Inexpensive Cons: No Live Mariachis more

If you like it HOT!!!! 7/9/2002

This is the place to come if you like HOT food. My daughter brought me to this restaurant when I was visiting her in college and there wasn't anything that I could eat there. I like salsa for flavor but not the heat and boy is this food hot. I ordered the enchiladas since the waiter thought this was the mildest item on the menu, but I couldn't eat more then a few bites. The place was crowded though, so I know there are plenty of people that like the food. more

Three words... 6/11/2002

This place is THE best place to go eat in Albuquerque. I have three words for this place; Spicy, Sopapillas and delicious. I keep coming back to the restaurant because i love how spicy and tasty the green chile is. This stuff makes me sweat within four bites. I also recommend trying the stuffed sopapillas. They stuff them with beans and potatoes, which is quite tasty with the chile. All and all, this place is delicious! Pros: spicy, green chile, margaritas Cons: slow service more
