Since there doesn't seem to be a way to answer the unfounded reviews, I would like to comment here. What renters don't understand is the no management company can refund their deposit, only the owners can. I wish we could refund all deposits; it would be far less work for us not having to coordinate work to be done and getting unfair reviews from tenants who obviously didn't leave the home in good condition. Since the owners keep the deposit-we don't get a dime, why would we create more work for ourselves? We also can't force an owner to do repairs. It is their home and their money. Again the management company is the one who is blamed even though we have no control. It is also a little unprofessional to say what we do is illegal. We wouldn't be in business very long and as successful as we are if ANYTHING were illegal or discriminatory. This is a highly regulated industry; why would we do anything to jeopardize our business? The answer is nothing. I truly feel bad for renters like these, that could not get their deposit back or had an owner who wouldn't or couldn't do the repairs they asked for. We work tirelessly to provide good service to owners and renters but just can't make everyone happy no matter how hard we try! Trust me....never EVER rent from this KC Rent. Leslie is the most unprofessional woman I have ever worked with in my life. She treats her tenants terribly and will side with the owner on everything. Owner doesn't want to fix leaks or holes or broken garages for over a year? Well, that's not Leslie's problem! Good luck EVER getting something fixed if you need it. Not to mention - she is rude, patronizing, manipulative, and two-faced. My time living in one of her properties throughout my lease was one of the most hellish experiences I ever have had in my life and wouldn't even wish it on my worse enemy. If you want a TERRIBLE rent management company from the depths of hell, you found it! more

Rent kc is the worst property management company I've ever deal with. Leslie is very unprofessional and she will never admit to fault. If you are renting from her, be aware that she is out to keep your deposit. No matter how wonderful you left your rented house, no matter how clean that you left it, you will not get your deposit back. Leslie will tell you lots of lies in order to keep your deposit and she will stop at nothing to keep it. I will not recommend this company to anyone. more

Very solid company 12/14/2011

I have read, with interests the comments about Leslie Courtney and her company. I was surprised to see the negative comments, which on thought, is more of an indictment on the writer. Business people are prone to use written language over verbal, as it does not changed to meet owner and tenant needs. I have found Ms. Courtney, not only charming and a pleasure to do business with, but also honest and straight forward. She does not waste my time, and like most business people, she will come to the point quickly, as business requires decision, and many people just can not pull the trigger, and that is because they are afraid. Where one has a tenant, they also should want someone that will quickly solve the problem for which we paid her to do. Her job is to assign the repair job to someone trustworthy and prompt, and not to follow them around and to report back to me several time per day. That is why I hired her; to keep me out of the loop so I can concentrate on my own job. She seems to have some amateur owners that only want to collect the money with out effort and without maintenance. She has handled seven houses for me and I have been more than pleased with the freedom her management has allowed me to enjoy. She informs me mostly by mail and seldom by phone and that is better for me. She is clear on the expression of the problem, and I do not expect her to know each step the repairman takes. I expect her to hire respectable and competent people who will do a class A job on my property, and the property costs to much to take any other action. How long will your stock broker take with you. If it is very much time, he is not functioning properly, and will not be around long. We are in the electronic age, and business is done on the computer. If you want a 22 year old, so called property manager, that will talk with you and be so sweet and discuss all of your children, and the latest news, then go somewhere else, but if you want a no nonsense and fully occupied professional straight arrow, then you may want Ms. Courtney. I want someone that will do the job with out me telling them how, and someone who will always remember that there those things that a tenant can cause great trouble over, like mold and water issues, and heating and air conditioners. Learning in court can be deadly expensive and that is how she helps me; keeping me free of entanglements and not wasting my time, however nice it is to chat from time to time. If I want some one to hang out with, I will get a girl friend and because time is money, I will stick with the one who allows me to make more with the proper use of my time. Sure your tenant would rather have you because you do not know enough to control them, and that will bite you someday. I will stick with RentKcnow, and Ms. Courtney. more

I have been working with Rent KC Management Group for more than a year. I am very happy with them! They have a lot of experience and really understand property management. Leslie Courtney and her team are a fantastic company who manage very nice properties throughout the city. They make sure their owners are well treated, informed and appreciated. Much better than dealing with other companies I have heard of. more

Best decision we've made 12/14/2011

Choosing Rent KC Now to manage our properties has been the best decision we could have made. My husband manages a multimillion dollar company and we both know what it takes to provide and coordinate services. However, we do not know the home rental business and each time we attempted to manage our own three investment properties, we incurred nothing but problems. It wasn't worth the stress or anxiety. Within two days of turning over management of the first property to Rent KC Now, we had a quality tenant in the home, and it has not been vacant since. We immediately turned over management of our other two properties, and the Rent KC Team has thoroughly screened all prospective tenants and presented us with options so that we can make the best decisions for us. They have efficiently and correctly handled everything from routine maintenance to an emergency air conditioner problem in the summer, saving us time, unnecessary expense, and the anxiety of trying to handle something that we do not have knowledge of. We are looking at adding two new properties this summer, and wouldn't think of using anyone other than Leslie and Rent KC Now. If you've had problems in the past or are new to the home rental industry, I highly recommend using Rent KC Now. more

FANTASTIC EXPERIANCE 12/13/2011

Our experience with Leslie at Rent KC Now has been absolutely fantastic. She was extremely professional and timely in her responses and worked diligently to resolve differences between our requests and the tenants. She has always returned calls promptly and even found us a house to rent when we unexpectedly had to return to KC two months prior to our rent contract being up. I highly recommend Leslie and her team if you are looking to rent or if you have a property to put on the market. Dealing with her has been a fantastic experience and am looking forward to working with her again when my husband and I leave after the first of the year. Don't let one unhappy person's vendetta steer you away from working with one of the top teams in Kansas City. Everyone at Rent KC Now has always treated us in an extreemly professional manor and with the utmost respect. more

A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE 12/1/2011

If you are looking for a management company to help you take care of your rental property and assist in the management of tenants and repairs, DO NOT USE Rent KC. Their focus and priority is on the tenant, not you and your property, which since you are paying them the priority should at least be equal. They could never provide me with a single receipt when repairs where made for proof of service. They claimed to have paid repair people out of my escrow account but then months later I would hear from the company that they had never been paid. At one point I was notified that the furnace needed repair and that tenants had no heat. I approved repairs and was told it was being taken care of. 2 months later I found out nothing had ever been done. Rent KC is clearly not a company who cares about their owners or tenants. Communication is unreliable and often rude. Save your self stress and frustration and go with any other management company in Kansas City. Their are several good one. more

This response is directed to the complaint about not being able to rent a property. The owner makes the decisions on credit, not us. They had poor credit and the owner refused to accept their application. Even though the $30 application fee went to the screening company, I paid them the $30 out of my own pocket trying to end a bad situation on a good note. As a good friend always says ""no good deed goes unpunished"". We have hundreds of happy renters, please contact us for references. more

Horrible!!!!!!!!! 10/21/2011

We were trying to rent a property that is listed with this company. We fully explained our situation to the ""showing agent"" and she was very positive about the fact that we would be ok given our situation. We completed all of the required paperwork paid the money to have the background and criminal checks done. Amazingly yes 10 years ago we had some struggles paying all of our bills but that was 10 years ago really?!?!?! Two weeks later we are told that they are waiting to see if someone better comes along and that we now have to deal with someone else Courtney Leslie and all I can say is I am thoroughly amazed that she manages to get anything rented at all. When speaking to her she seemed as though she was preoccupied and didn't really have the time to pay any attentiont to the phone call. Also she doens't seem that interested in receiving our last 7 years worth of rental history and responsible bill paying to present to the owners for proof that our financial situation isn't as a 10 year old credit report makes it appear to be, or in contacting the owners of the property to see if they are interested in seeing any of this paperwork. Now today when speaking to her I am told that the owners are not calling her back and that they told her they really don't like where they are now and will probably be moving back. Don't you think you could have told me that before I spent the application money on this property? I just think that you would be better serving yourself to go somewhere else because you will get nothing but the run around from this company. more
