Ramada Chicago

We stayed here for just one night. When we pulled up I was underwhelmed by the appearance of the place, but the lobby was nice, and when we got into our room it was fine. I inquired about upgrading to a lakeview and did so for a small fee ($20). This was SO worth it -- our ""lakeview"" was also a suite with a separate living area! Great deal, and the view was fantastic. This was through ANGIE at the front desk -- she was so nice and helpful and made our stay so much better. Whatever she makes, she deserves a raise! I didn't notice any smell in the hallway at all, nor in our room. The bathroom was not the greatest as far as size or amenities, but it was clean and the water pressure and temp were just fine. The surrounding neighborhood is actually really cute if you go to the back side of the hotel. It's clearly a university area. Though the metra stop is very close by, a cab ride to the Magnificent Mile is only about $17, which is good if you're coming back late. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was fine for me, and my friend felt the same way. P.S. - the free parking is HUGE in Chicago -- most places charge $40 - 50 per 24 hours. This hotel is no 4 Seasons, but it served its purpose just fine and for a good price. more

Every year my girlfriends and I pick a play and we come down to the city of girls only fun. This year we stayed at the Ramada Lake Shore. The receptionist was very prompt, she was sweet and she was so accommodating. Our group has seven women in it, and we wanted adjoining rooms. They did not have any available, but God bless her she tried for twenty minutes! It was a good hotel at a good price and the night life a few miles away could not be beat! more

Great place huge clean room , 2 tv`s ,private bedroom , nice cafe with a buffet meals and room service the pool was awesome clean in the morning , great price and a very friendly front desk i had a very nice stay thank you ramada keep up the good work !!!! more

we were very satisfied with service from this hotel. Rooms inside were clean and area was safe. It was on the south side of chicago and about 1/2 hour from michigan. Bus ride was fine.This hotel does not look as nice on the outside but we were very satisfied with the inside. I was concerned with other reviews but trust me - you get more than what you are paying for. more

This is an older hotel but very clean. Everything worked just fine. We did not have any issues. Basic hotel met our needs just fine. Breakfast at the cafe next door was great. more

The rooms are a good size with very clean bathrooms. It was my second stay there. Both visits were pleasant. It is an older hotel, but do not let that keep you away. Parking is free and very secure. more

The hotel was very nice, the rooms were spacious, the staff was friendly, everything worked perfectly, from the bathroom to the ac to the free Internet. They even had a free shuttle to downtown and uchicago, which was very convenient. Don't walk in expecting Four Seasons--this hotel is along the lines of a Holiday Inn, and for the price and location, can't be beat. more

My husband and I stayed for a couple of days and had a great time. The hotel is very clean and the service can't be beat. Each staff member we talked to was friendly and helpful, they suggested places to eat and what to do & see while we were in town. My company is planning on having a meeting in Chicago, I am definately going to put in my 2 cents worth and tell them we should have it at this hotel more

We needed to be close to the University of Chicago and Hyde Park and the Ramada Inn Lake Shore offered excellent accommodations at a reasonable rate. The staff is an added plus and they made every effort to take care of our needs. My wife and I would stay here again even if we didn't need to be close to the south side. Lake Shore Drive makes all of Chicago accessible, from Hyde Park to Evanston. It's an older property but with folks like Angie and Earl taking care of us it was just like being with family. more

Great people. My most important factor is comfortable beds, and they are comfortable. The lake is right next door, which is gorgeous and wonderful for walking. A small market is within 2 blocks. Taxis to downtown are about $15. All in all, if I had another extended stay, I would return. more

I was visiting for a conference at the Hyde Park campus, and this hotel was incredibly convenient. I was able to leave my car in the parking garage during the day, and a line of taxis was waiting to take me to the campus. The free WiFi was a bonus. more

My husband and I have stayed at the Ramada on Lake Shore Drive several times, including coming to celebrate as newlyweds! Each time we come or call April is always wearing a warm smile or you can hear the friendly greeting in her voice on the phone. She knows and loves her job as is evidenced by her knowledge of the area and local attractions. We will continue to visit because of employees like her! more
