It was reasonably priced, extremely convenient to U Chicago, the front desk people were extremely helpful, and it,had free parking. The rooms were comfortable and clean. .It's possible to walk to U Chicago but I would only do so in the daytime (takes about 30 minutes doing a slow walk) but this hotel also has a free shuttle to the U and to downtown. They have a cafe right next door with good food. more

An amazing variety 1/25/2011

Do not believe the other reviews. This was a great hotel and the staff was amazing and friendly. They were so nice and hospitable that we stayed an extra night!! The room was huge and very well kept. The bar/restaurant had an amazing variety of well prepared food!! Again, do not believe the bad reviews. Go there and see for yourself. You will not regret it!! more

The Staff at the Ramada Lake Shore made the stay very enjoyable. Angie at the front desk was very helpful with directions on how to get to different locations throughout Chicago. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.\r more

The Ramada Lake Shore is a great compromise between staying in town and getting a reasonable room rate. There has been some remodeling work going on during our stay, but this didn't make the stay uncomfortable. The personal has been friendly. The Restaurant in the conference building belonging to the hotel is great. Friday nights buffet w/ Jazz is highly recommended, a lot of fun and great dinner for around 20$!. CTA bus no. 6 is an easy way to get to the museums and into town within just a few minutes. We will certainly stay at the Ramada again! more

My husband and I took our grandson to Chicago to visit friends/family and the museums, etc. We were very happy with our stay at the Ramada. The young lady at the front desk allowed us to check in early. Our room, tho small, was clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job in our room while we were out. The pool was unavailable the first day of our stay due to a storm the night before, but the staff did a great job cleaning it and we were able to enjoy a good swim! The view is excellent (Lake Shore Drive) and just a hop, skip and jump to the museums, planetarium, aquarium and downtown. I found the staff at the front desk to be friendly, courteous and helpful. I hope to stay there again. Thanks, Ramada, for making our trip so pleasant!\r more

Very Comfortable 1/12/2011

We stay at this hotel every time we visit Chicago. It is close to everything we want to see in the city, but the price feels more like what we would pay to stay in a far-away suburb. Parking at the hotel is free, and that cuts the price even more. We have never had a negative experience more

Very courteous with a smile 12/31/2010

The same gal checked us in and out. She was friendly and very courteous with a smile on her face. Believe me, that means a lot since we traveled 6 hours on the road. We had a leaky toilet in our room and she immediately offered us another room which worked out fine. Being the hotel was pretty well booked for the weekend due to a marathon race, it meant a lot to us for her to be able to offer us another room. more

Neat and Clean 12/27/2010

We have both been to Chicago several times on business, but never had a chance to really see the city. The staff at the Ramada Inn Lake Shore made the trip easy and pleasant. They were very helpful and answered all of our questions. The hotel itself is clean and neat, with a very nice restaurant and lounge just across the parking lot. The Friday night seafood buffet with a live jazz band was great. more

This was a great hotel and the staff was amazing and friendly. They were so nice and hospitable that we stayed an extra night!! The room was huge and very well kept. This is our first choice hotel when we come to chicago to drop off our Uchicago stident- very handy, safe parking, good access to greater chicago- Just cant be beat. One of the things we enjoy when we travel is watching the occasional moment of cable TV, since we dont have cable at home. more

We would not have enjoyed our stay as much without her help 10/7/2010

The entire front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. Christian went out of her way to be helpful to us. She gave us directions several times and made us feel comfortable traveling on the city buses for our first time. We would not have enjoyed our stay as much without her help. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly. more
