Please read before you work with Polestar 2/3/2011

Oneof the owners sold us a story. We needed a whole new AC and furnace. It was installed quickly. Since 2009, the AC was not working properly. Now it's 61 degress in our home and 2 outside, with 4 small children, and I called becuase it doesn't seem like the furnace is working. The same owner that sold me the $5k package, was now rude. He told me that we should have renewed our service agreement, and what a deal we received getting the first year of service for free. And that labor was not covered and that I would need to pay for labor and a service agreement, When I tried to explain that I paid $5k and should be treated like a good customer and asked him to stop interupting me, he told me that he didn't have to do anything and would not send anyone out. Well, you sold me a story and now have our money. I am sad that I trusted you and your company. It's a lesson learned. To others I would say, please, before you do anything talk to at least one other company. Get quotes. Get r more

Excellent Decision 11/21/2010

Recently my husband and I decided to have a complete replacement of all of our heating and cooling equipment. We did ample research and obtained bids from several companies. Although Polestar was not the cheapest of all the bids, the quality of the products and the helpful nature of the Sales Manager who talked with us (on multiple, multiple occasions) convinced us that Polestar was the right choice. They gave us multiple options while being upfront about the quality and what to expect from each. \r \r Once the decision was made, they wasted no time in installing all of the equipment to the standards indicated in the initial proposal. Everyone from the Sales Manager who assisted in our decision, to the front desk who called to tell us the technicians were on their way and to keep us updated on the progress, to the technicians that installed the equipment were top notch. The equipment is installed and my husband and I could not be happier with the results! more

Wonderful Company 10/27/2010

About three weeks ago I noticed my garbage disposal was making funny noises everytime I used it and after a week or so I decided to call a plumber to come take a look at it. I immediately called Polestar Plumbing Heating and Air because my neighbors told me they have really good deals and have really great people at that company. I called them up and within a week I had an appointment set up and a technician out at my house. They had to end up replacing my garbage disposal because it was completely rusted. They replaced it for a very reasonable price. The technician that came out was very kind and helpful. He seemed to have a lot of knowledge in this field. I would recommend Polestar Plumbing Heating and Air. more

Consumer 7/28/2010

Would not recommend this company, they only want jobs and projects they make big money on. Would be totally careful if a home owner. They do not want to to business with people who they cannot over-charge. I heard the General Manager Speak to a service tech so hateful, the tech was so upset. I agree with the reviews stay away and make sure you obtain 3 bids before choosing any company. Rude-Rude- Men Run this company! more

Mrs. H 6/26/2010

We had been looking for gas fireplace logs for awhile and 2 years ago bought from Polestar. From day one they didn't work right - overheated and had to put new parts in. ALWAYS kept the glass doors open when using. By the second winter they quit again. I thought the parts would be under warranty. WRONG. Told me I didn't take my glass doors off and that is why it overheated. I told them I had them open every time I ran it, which wasn't much because it uses a lot of gas. Special occasions only and the owner said he could put new ones in for $1400. The original cost $1600. The tech felt real bad and I could tell by the way he was acting that he felt it was a rip off that he didn't even bother giving me the $200 bill for the cleaning of the furnace. They have also worked on our rental properties and ripped us off quite often. Last year we had a clogged drain in one home and they came out twice and wanted to run a new line, charge us a bundle and then guess what it still doesn't more

Excellent! 6/25/2010

Two weeks ago my air conditioner went out. I called around to several places but Polestar was the only company that would come out within the week! I was hesitant to use them because of the reviews but after checking with the Better Business Bureau and checking their availability I decided to give them a shot. They came out the next morning and diagnosed the problem - I had several parts that needed replaced. They searched for the parts and a warranty issue came up. After calling several different locations they found that necessary paperwork hadn't been submitted by the company who installed my unit so the warranty was not valid. After more calling around they found a distribution company that would honor the warranty. Their perserverance saved me a lot of money and a lot of time and I will definitely be getting a service plan from them so I can continue with their excellent service! more

Horrible people. Tried to scam me. 6/8/2010

Awful. They tried to rip me off. Told me I need a total new air unit. It would cost $2,500. They said no point in trying to do a repair and that he was the owner, so he knew what he was talking about. Called a different company and they fixed my unit for $200! That was over a year ago, and it is working great. Therefore, it is clear the entire thing was a con and a scam! I even called him back to tell "the owner" about it, and he hung up on me. more

Scam- con men 6/8/2010

Total rip off!!! My air conditioner broke and was still under warranty. The man came out, told me it was not under warranty and it would be $3,000 to fix. I called the manufact. myself and they said call another company it was under warranty and the fix WAS free. I have air fixed and it's cool. Polestar are theifs! When I told the manager he yelled at me.\r \r Guess that's what con men do when they get cought. Total scam! And I cought them. They acted terrible. more

Polestar Plumbing Heating & Ac is the worst and will cheat you 12/7/2009

I had them out to look at my furnace that was 3 weeks out of warranty. They said on the phone they did warranty work, but they assured me that it would not be covered under warranty as manufacturer was very strict on this policy. They came quickly which was great, but the young man sucked on a hose, with his mouth, pulled off two clips and tried a wire on them bypassing a piece, then looked at the unit touching wires and hoses and said he would have to call into the office. The office called back and said he would work me a deal for $500.00 he would do the repair and also service my air conditioner in the spring. While they waited, I called the manufacturer who said they WOULD cover it under warranty if I have my paperwork, which I did. Then the guy in the office acted like he had never done this before, said his guy would have to drive to pick up the parts so installation on this would be almost $400. I was shocked, so called another company which gave me the local dealership of thi more

Great Service! 4/22/2009

After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous to try these guys, but then I went onto the Better Business Bureau and found that they have an A rating so I decided to give them a try and I'm so glad I did! Not only did they fix my A/C but they were so nice and I felt like they really cared about my situation. I have two kids at home under the age of 6 so my schedule can be very hectic as I am a single mom. I called after hours because my air conditioner was doing some really crazy things and even though it wasn't an emergency they treated it as if it were and actually sent someone out to my house that night to make sure it was OK. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone! more

Polestar- Wouldn't Use Again! 3/19/2009

Polestar installed a water heater two weeks ago at a reasonable price. After the installation there was very little pressure/water in my kitchen faucet, so little that it took 6-7 minutes to fill up the kitchen sink (It's a Delta that is one year old). I called and the sales guy insisted it was a plugged aerator. He sent someone out who told me that when they flushed the old water heater some debris "probably" got stuck in my faucet. When I asked him to fix it, he said he would for 395.00! --that it wasn't his fault. Sent him packing and will never use Polestar again. more

First time customer and loveing it 10/31/2007

Back in may I decided that I wanted central air installed in my home. So I asked my neighbor were he got his from and he recommended me to polestar. I called them up and got every thing set up for them to come out and install my new central air. The following Monday, they showed up half an hour early and completed the job flawlessly. I?ve never gotten such service from a company before. I was very pleased with their technicians and their customer service couldn?t have been any better. I wish all businesses were run like polestar. Thanks guys, my central air system is still working flawlessly more

Fast Response 10/3/2007

A couple months back, my AC went down, and it just happened to be one of the hottest days in August. So I opened up the yellow pages and went looking for a good AC repair place. I saw Polestar?s add and noticed that they had great deals on inspections. So I called them up and within an hour, I had a respectable technician at my house fixing my AC. I?d just like to thank polestar for coming out on such a short notice and for fixing my ac quick so me and my family could stay cool. more

Think I Was Born Yesterday? 8/8/2007

My aunt gave me a gift certificate for Polestar's maintenance plan (a check-up for my furnace/ac in spring & fall) that she won at a silent auction. I had them come out for my fall maintenance, & the service tech they sent was very personable. The problem is that he was a con man. He told me that my furnace was unsafe & that if it were his family, he would shut it down because of impending carbon monoxide poisoning. I was pregnant with my 3rd child, with 2 others under 4--all of us in the house all day, everyday. The owner of the company called & reiterated all the tech said & gave me quotes for the new unit. They both recommended that I have it installed before the weekend.I was scared to death at that point. Later, my husband and then dad checked out the unit & thought it was safe in their opinions. Then, my dad sent a heating & cooling guy over that he trusted. He said there was no hint of carbon monoxide & that the unit was older but not dangerous AT ALL & would last us another few more

PoleCat Plumbing 5/31/2007

They seem personable and reasonable but they have crooked repairmen and the problem is that the owner sides with the repairmen. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on a wanted poster at the Post Office. They had installed a $300 toilet, one year later they charged $300 to fix it with a part that I found out was still under warranty and I could have gotten for free. They charged over $100 for the free part and $200 labor for something I was able to install in 5 minutes. We refer to them as Polecat Plumbing from now on. more

Satisfied Customer 2/26/2007

We have done business with Polestar Plumbing for many years and have always been satisfied with their service. We recently called because our water softener was down. They immediately came out, took care of the issue, and we were back up and running in no time. We were so use to having the water softener that we both went through withdrawal without it. \r \r I simply want to say thank you to Polestar for being responsive to our needs and for giving superb value to us for the dollars we have expended. It is always a pleasure working with the owner and with his company. Polestar is a tribute to the business community as a whole, but especially to small business. You've got it right! Don't ever give up your principals.\r \r With Kindest Regards,\r Ross more

Charge way more and rude owner 1/30/2007

Polestar heating is a complete rip-off :\r 1. They charge way more than other local competitors do for similar work.\r 2. When I came in to the store and politely asked about the charges, Mark Snell (owner) was very rude. How would you like it if someone point their finger at your face and refer to you as "people like you"?\r 3. Questionable diagnostics, possibly so that they can perform more (unnecessary)work and thus charge more.\r \r My Lennox furnace was 3.5 years old - builder's grade. I change filters (3M) every 3 months - as recommended. I have no pets. It broke down one cold winter day. Since I was on their service plan, I called Polestar. Turned out limit switch tripped because the 2-month old filter was dirty.\r Here's my bill (I WAS on their silver plan, so this supposedly includes the 10% off):\r \r - Replace Limit Switch - Material & Labor: $128\r - Clean & Flush Coil - Material & Labor: $245\r - Clean Blower Mtr & Wheel - Material & Labor: $185\r \r The work took about 2 hours. Great Company to work with! 1/24/2007

My first time using Polestar was in November of 2000, I called the company because so many friends of mine recommended them to my family and I. I woke up and had no heat at my home, and within one hour I had a certified technician at my home installing a new furnace. The tech's were very plesant to work with, very skilled, and got my furnace up and running in a resonable time. Not to mention the prices are great! Since the furnace was installed, I have not had any problems with it. Twice a year I get my units checked, and I dont even have to call and schedule it..their office calls and reminds me! Over the years we have formed a great buisness relationship with Polestar, and very rarely can you trust a company as much as we trust Polestar! I highly recommend their company for any plumbing, heating, or cooling needs. more

Inexcusably poor customer service 4/14/2006

We bought both our furnace and a/c unit from Polestar just over 3 years ago. Installation of the furnace went flawlessly, especially considering the odd placement of the furnace. In fact, we've had no problems with them where the furnace is concerned.\r \r Quality air conditioning service seems to be completely beyond their grasp, however. When the unit was installed the tech forgot to install some part which caused it to overheat and shut down. This was in the middle of July and it took them 3 days to get back out and fix the problem.\r \r Jump to today. A/C stopped blowing cold air yesterday afternoon. I called at 7:30 this morning, told them the problem, reminded them that we have a service contract. Was told that they weren't sure if they could get to us, but that they would "call right back". Finally after 4 pm and 3 additional calls, we were told that the earliest they could get to us would be Monday, putting us without a/c for 4 days.\r \r I understand that emergencies have to be work more

honest and affordable 2/7/2006

We used Polestar in an emergency situation when our heater went out in the middle of winter. They were able to get someone out to our house very quickly. The repair was very affordable and the repairman was able to show us how another company's representative had given us wrong information on the size and correct placement of the air filter. This information saved us from having to do larger repairs down the road. more
