IN-CRED-I-BLE! 9/27/2006

Wow, never had such a tasty, tasty meal before I went to Paseos! My friend took me there because she said that I HAD to try their shrimp sandwich and I am so, so happy she took me! Wow, I couldn't even fathom a shrimp sandwich but all of those flavors just blew me away. I think everyone needs to try it because it will be an experience for sure. It is a small restaurant but I like it like that. It tastes like home-cooked food and their corn was yuuummy! If you love flavors, entice your taste buds here, they'll thank you! :D more

they make your neighbor jealous 9/25/2006

grab one of their sandwiches to go and sit down by the bridge or greenlake and the aroma alone will make everyone around you jealous. (but know that if you get it to go, you won't get corn on the cob which you do get if you eat it there) Pros: cheap, nice people, great location Cons: parking, cash only more

best sandwich 9/17/2006

The juciest chicken sandwich I have ever had!! Once you walk in to this tiny restaurant, the aroma makes your mouth start to water. Cons: limited seating more

great sandwich- but not a ""medianoche"" 5/26/2006

This was a great sandwich. I'd get one again. But after living 12 years in Miami, I can promise you that nobody who knows Cuban food would call this a ""medianoche"" (midnight). I'm puzzled why Paseo named it that, because the only similarity is pork. Paseo uses french bread, a mayo spread, cilantro, grilled onions, and pulled pork. Every medianoche I've ever had was cuban-style egg bread, sliced pork, serrano ham, swiss cheese, and a few sliced pickles. No grilled onions, and definitely no cilantro. And a medianoche is grilled on a sandwich press--essentially a Cuban panini. All that notwithstanding, even though this isn't an ""authentic"" cuban midnight sandwich, it was really, really good. Pros: great pork sandwich Cons: lines can be long, parking is tight more

DO eat the sandwich!!! 10/15/2005

I have to say that I was almost offended by Lola's review of Paseo. It sounds almost crazy that so many people highly recommended this wonderful place and Lola had nothing to say other than the food is horrible. Paseo is the best Sandwich place in Seattle!! I love that tasty, messy pork sandwish. They are always full of delicious goodies and the meat portion is more than generous. Listen to the majority of reviewers Paseo is worth the wait, the mess and the small venue. Pros: Midnight cuban sandw Cons: small venue more

Don't eat the sandwiches 9/30/2005

For the sandwiches they must use something like a 1 week old over-baked baguette sliced in half lengthwise, toasted, soaked in vegetable oil and toasted again so that no human teeth could possibly bite into it. It's impossible to eat. The spices are ok, but so is the jamaican jerk spice blend I bought at the supermarket. And the flavor is just not worth ripping your teeth out trying to take a bite out of stale bread that holds nothing between it but grease. Don't get me wrong, I like greasy food. This place has potential. But If you're thinking about going here to spend three times as much as you should on a sandwich you won't be able to eat, I suggest you'd be better off chugging a bottle of vegetable oil spiked with jalapenos. Cons: price, quality more

Love, Love, Love it! 9/13/2005

I am in love with the jerk chicken sandwich. Lovely grilled onions, perfectly marinated chicken & oh so good cilantro mayo. The sandwiches are messy but delicious. more

Veg friendly 9/1/2005

Paseos offers three incredible vegan & vegetarian options, including an amazing tofu sandwich 1-5 star, the Tofu con Gusto dinner that includes a delicious salad, rice & beans & corn (an excellent value), and their famed rice & beans that I eat in obscene quantities. Highly recommended! ORDER AHEAD & TAKE YOUR FOOD TO GO! Pros: call ahead, vegan, vegetarian Cons: popular, time, small more

Amazing little find 8/17/2005

One of Seattle's best-kept secrets. Great food that's also inexpensive and not pretentious. You must go! more

Great sandwiches 7/27/2005

This small shop, on the Freemont hill, has great sandwiches and good Caribbean style food. The quality has stood out in freshness and grilled perfection. The BBQ chicken and pork sandwiches are extremely delicious. They are on a different level from BBQ house sandwiches or deli store sandwiches. The half chicken dinner (with rice, black beans, and delicious corn) is also popular. Unfortunately the restaurant seating is horribly cramped. This place has the smallest dining area I have ever seen. Only about 12 people can be seated on cramped plastic seats next to cramped plastic tables. During warm summer days a couple of tables are placed outside which offer a bit more comfort. There are no waitresses so you are expected to clean your own mess. The sandwiches here are better than Vietnamese sandwiches, traditional smoked BBQ sandwiches (drowning in BBQ sauce), and boring deli sandwiches (both Quiznos and Subway). Finding parking is horrible. The seating is horrible. The food is very tasty and definitely worth trying. Pros: Sandwiches Cons: Residential Parking, Extremely Small more

Go Go Go Go 6/24/2005

This place is incredible, but I never would've found it on my own. They serve delicious sandwiches at lunch that simply must be tasted to be believed. I was also a fun of the rice which had so many flavors and a rich aroma. This place can be hard to find because there isn't a sign, but I would just look for a line. I had to wait about 25 minutes for my recent weekday lunch trip, and there's not much in the way of seating so I had to place a takeout order. Pros: Excellent food, Good prices, Friendly staff Cons: Tiny, Very crowded, No parking more

*THE* Best hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop! 6/13/2005

If you come to Seattle, do yourself a favor by making a sidetrip to Fremont (beautiful in itself) for lunch or dinner at Paseo. The phrase ""never judge a book by its cover"" has never been more true with this place, the facade is something to be desired, but your mouth will never be happier. more

cuban sandwich ~ can't be beat! 1/14/2005

This oasis of deliciousness is dangerously close to my house! The cuban pork sandwich is a new level. Unfortunately, they refuse to serve sandwiches at dinnertime. There is no way a restaurant would consistently ""run out"" of bread (as reported by the staff) for months on end. While their dinners are good, the sandwich is the clear winner. Don't get me wrong, I'll still make just a dinner of their black beans, but I wish I could order a sandwich after 3pm. Pros: delicious porks, phenomenal beans, "mom & pop" place more

shout out to fremont 9/23/2004

Listen Folks, after hearing all you rave about Paseo, I have to add my 2 cents. This is what you do: 1) you call your order in for 2 pork sandwiches and a side of rice and beans 2) you wait, living on a prayer 3) woah. you're halfway there 4) take the sandwich home and proceed to consume (with at least 4 napkins in close proximity for unfortunate sacrifices to the ground), peeling away the wrapper as you eat it. 5) don't forget to almost eat the paper. 6) and wait until it is humanly allowed to have Paseo again (it has been 2X a day sometimes for me). buon gusto! more

Great food + it's cheap 8/23/2003

Everything at Paseo is delicious. The Midnight Cuban sandwich is so good, I dream about it. How can something so tasty only cost $6.50? Best deal in town! Call ahead, and order to go - sometimes they're really busy and there's nowhere to sit. You have to try this place - you won't be sorry. Pros: food, price, staff Cons: parking, hard to find more

I almost ate my fingers! 2/4/2003

Well the cat has long been out of the bag on this place. Paseo is nothing short of finger lickin' good. The sandwiches take a few minutes to build (and some may require a city permit they're packed so high with goodies) but it's worth the wait. The pork, prawns, chicken and occassional steak is all mouth watering. I've never been disappointed. Great food, neat people. Enjoy mon! Pros: so delicious, amazing flavors, fun little spot Cons: tiny dine-in, very messy sandos, little pricey more

Oh YUM! 1/17/2003

Take out, dine in- Paseo's is excellent. I always get the Pork Dinner- my wife likes the Roast Pork. The sandwiches are great, but so large and hard to eat, why not get the dinner plate? Whenever we don't want to cook, but want something that feels homecooked, we call Paseo's. If you are looking for a nice sit down dinner... keep looking. Paseo's is more of a lunch counter than a restaurant. Pros: delicious, cheap, unique Cons: small, cramped, closed mondays more

MID-DAY MIDNIGHT 12/22/2002

IF YOU EVER WANT A GREAT LUNCH THAT WILL STICK WITH YOU ALL DAY? GO FOR THE MIDNIGHT CUBAN SANDWICH I PROMISE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. AFTER THAT WRAP IT UP WITH THE BREAD PUDDING. Pros: FRIENDLY SERVICE Cons: NO PARKING more

Run don't Walk 8/28/2002

The food is so good you'll be crying for your mommy after your done licking your fingers. The sandwiches of from heaven, the scallop dish is awesome, and the side of corn is a nice touch. I'd recommend doing takeout since the place is SO small. more

Tasty Take-Out 8/15/2002

There's no reason to eat in, but a million to take out. The spicy Caribbean food is fresh and tasty, and the portions are healthy. My favorite is the shrimp sandwich, but others swear by the jerked chicken. Pros: Inexpensive, Hefty portions Cons: Long lines on weekend, Limited menu more
