I was able to get my low cost auto insurance and was very fortunate to have a Patient and Knowledgeable agent named Lorraine V to guide me through the process. She took the time to explain everything carefully and was very kind not to cast judgement or have an attitude for my need to pursue an affordable auto insurance so I can comply with the law and not break the bank at the same time. When my financial status changes, I will certainly enlist Lorraine's help again in securing even higher coverage. Thank You for making this a pleasurable experience as my prior insurance, Mercury, didn't seem concerned with my urgency to lower my plan. I have bought my auto insurance from Mercury Insurance for 30+ years yet after multiple rate increase--the last one over 20%--I decided to look around finding Pacific Preferred Insurance who represented California's Low Cost Auto insurance. I found Pacific Preferred to have their act together; better details and answer (in advance) to my questions demonstrated (to me) a company that appears trust worthy. In talking with one of their agents--Alejandra Ramirez--to complete my auto insurance application, I was pleased to be working with someone who not only appears to know what they were doing yet equally did not rush me and answered my final questions. If I ever have a claim I can only hope I am able to work with Ms. Ramirez again even though I will most likely be handled by a claims adjuster; hopefully one with the same skill sets. more

I give this company five plus stars easily, although I can't see the star rating properly on this page so I hope I chose the right rating. If you are a low-income resident of California I don't think you'll find cheaper insurance. On top of that, their customer service is awesome. They answered some questions I had about the DMV and saved me a two hour trip standing in line at the DMV office. In addition, they called the DMV to clear a suspension I had on my registration due to being without insurance prior to signing up with them, and they also sent me a text and emailed me to let me know as soon as they cleared it. They are super awesome and helpful and that's sometimes hard to find when something is "low cost." They are responsive, courteous, and professional. $39/mo w down of $60 is pretty darn good too! I usually don't write reviews but they were worth the time. more

I applied online for auto insurance and opted to do the full application (estimated to be completed in 45 minutes, which was accurate). The following day, I received a follow-up phone call to finalize my application and submit my first payment but it went to voicemail because I was currently at work as they called in the late morning. I called them when I got off around 3PM; there were some phone hiccups and lags so the agent had to redial after she checked my application. Eventually, I was reconnected and she reviewed my application information for accuracy. She then told me all of the agents were in a meeting (apparently she was customer support not an insurance agent) and she would have one of them call me the next day to finalize the payment. I let her know that I wouldn't be able to pick up until after 4PM and she said she would make a note of that. Flash forward to the next day, I still received a phone call in the morning regarding the finalization of my application. When I called the direct line to an agent, I was sent to voicemail. I called the main office phone number (as suggested by said agent in case they didn't pick up) and was able to get a hold of the agent who left the first voicemail. She was able to process my application, submit my payment, and asked if I had any other questions. When I said I had none, she said that if I ever did, I could always call or text them (in case I'm busy). One last thing to note: this company doesn't cover any bodily injury to yourself or damage to your own vehicle. You'll have to find that coverage elsewhere as they only provide liability-only coverage. My premium was a little higher than average because of where I live (Long Beach). more

Have had a pleasant experience with them so far. Only thing that's lacking is that there's no online payment method, or autopay. So in that way not the most convenient, but I can actually afford car insurance now more
