Best

The P.F. Chang's is a great place for authentic Chinese food. Their menu is always wonderful and full of lip-smacking delicacies.

Worst

I agree with the other reviewer who noted that P.F. Chang's is directed mostly towards the Western palate. It may be well prepared but is certainly not what an Asian person would ...

Don't Be a Follower 11/20/2002

Don't be fooled by the dark lighting and catchy name. I can't believe that Houston thinks P.F. Chang's is the best Chinese restaurant in town. C'mon, we are better than that Houston!! The food is marginal at best. The spicy dishes are bland and the fried dishes taste burnt. It's unfortunatee that people go nuts over their lettuce wraps. because they are second rate compared to ones at other restaurants. It is so annoying when the waitstaff does that whole thing where they mix your sauces at your table when you sit down. Give me a break! For one alternative, try North China, located across from the Memorial City Professional Building at Kingsride and Frostwood. I have been eating there for 19 years and it is the best chinese food in Houston. One reason to go there rather than P.F. Changs: ITS AUTHENTIC. Pros: Ambience, Spacious dining area Cons: Marginal Food, Overrated Food more

yeah right? 11/16/2002

P.F.Changs is good for their wraps and that is about it. The chinese food is American-chinese with a lack of spice. Its not authentic chinese , and they are overpriced for their mediocre food. more

not actually #1 11/14/2002

Do you think PFC has Chinese food? I don't think so. 1. Food is not bad, but he real Chinese food is not like that. 2. Besides, you'll find out your table is really close to others, and 3. I don't like PFC's ice tea. (I will never go back or order their ice tea again, not tasty at all! rather buy tea bags and DIY ice tea by myself!) 4. I've been waiting for 90 mins and didn't get good service. Our waiter was too busy to take care of us, he 'd rather talk to girls instead with add somemore water or icetea for us. Cons: waiting 4 a long time, expensive, crowded more

Good Food awful Valet 11/13/2002

I love the food and I use to go there often. The only complain I have and the reason I haven't returned was because I had a terrible experience with the valet parking guy. When the valet guy took my car I gave him a generous tip but when I left the restaurant it was raining and I didn't want to wait for my car so I asked the person in charge for my key, well he went crazy because of this, he was extremely rude he yelled at me and threw the keys. When I went to my car I was putting my daughter in her car seat, well he chased after me and started banging on my car yelling that I needed to get out because they needed the space. I was extremely embarrassed and insulted, I've never been back since. Pros: Good food Cons: valet parking bad more

Yuppie 11/12/2002

Food is ok but what happened to the vegies? Was very upset I could not get a regular glass of tea or just green tea. Why all the fancy drinks? More pricy than others on the list. Just trying to figure out why there is more than 1 restruant & how they stay in business. Ta Hua's food is much better & you get more for your money. Lunch specials are inexpensive & more food than you can eat. Never leave without a doggie bag! Pros: nice ambience Cons: drinks, vegies needed in dish more

China gone home 11/10/2002

Gezzz you guys need to try those along bellaire, then you'll know what chinese food is. more

P.F. Chang's ROCKS 11/10/2002

Definitely the best Chinese food around, not to mention the service is unrivaled- Their General Tso's chicken is impeccable! Two thumbs up for sure..... Pros: High Quality Food, Excellent Service, Atmosphere Cons: NONE, NONE, NONE more

Yuk 11/9/2002

This is the worst chinese food I've ever eaten. It is not authentic at all!!!! The portions are small and way overpriced!!!! more

hao chur 11/9/2002

We lived in Xi'an China two years and traveled to several places in China. The food at Chang's was as close to Chinese as We have had in America. more

Always great 11/9/2002

Predictable is okay as long as it's always good and I have always found PF Chang's to be great Pros: Large portions, good menu Cons: Can be noisy more

servings are a little small 11/9/2002

To loud, and not enough on the plate for the cost. Cons: crowded, expensive more

Chic and Tasty 11/9/2002

This restaurant is definitely for the trendy crowd. It offers valet parking, more upscale dining than most chinese restaurants, and a wide variety of food to suite a variety of pallets. Although there is sometimes a wait, it is truly a worthwhile experience in chinese dining. Good food, service and atmosphere. more

I long to go back. 11/9/2002

Living out of town and only visiting once or twice a year, I long to return. When someone mentions Chinese food, I automaticially think P.F. Changs and my mind draws a picture of where. Pros: excellent food, wait staff well train, valet parking more

Not Chinese 11/9/2002

This place is NOT, I repeat ""NOT"", even close to anything that is Chinese. The only things that have some slight resemblance of it being a Chinese restaurant are the chopsticks and soy sauce that is placed on the table. This place is for one who wants ""Think"" they are eating Chinese. As a Chinese who hates most the Chinese restaurant in Houston, I think most buffet restaurants have food that are more Chinese like than this place. If you want great service, really, they do, that comes with the price of atleast a 45 min. wait, than this where you should go. Just to be fair, their food is not gross or anything, but it just isn't Chinese. Pros: Service, Atmosphere(NotChinese, Crowd Cons: Food, Value, Not Chinese more

good but not great 11/9/2002

Interesting menu. Good place to bring a date. Service is o.k. but not spectacular. If you're a vegetarian, it's a good place to go. The food just didn't overwhelm me. Again, good but not at the top of my list. Pros: food menu items, liquor drinks good Cons: long wait, not enough help, wine list poor more

I am a chinese i know what is the best 11/8/2002

First i want to say i am a chinese. Except Fung kitchen other then that are not good, However Fung kitchen is very expansive. My favor dim son is Ocean palace Rest. on Bellaire Blvd, and my favor chinese Rest is Wan Tan Rest. on Diho Square on Bellaire Blvd. Both of them are cheap and very good (my american fellows love to eat both rest. too). I eat there a lot. P.S.- the rest. show on the ""best List"" most of them are american-chinese, not chinese-chinese. P.S. 2- I love to eat, I enjoy food, however I hate rest. charge a lot for there original food/ non special food. more

Faux Chinese 11/8/2002

Any similarity to authentic Chinese food is purely coincidental. The cuisine at P.J. Chang's is a fusion of Hunan style and western. Cons: expensive, poor parking, poor service more

Quasi-Chic overrated 11/8/2002

The place is a magnet for the wannabe cool- they hope that the coolness leftover from the few and far-between (in Houston, at least) ""who's-who""s will rub off on them. What they have is more money than taste, and I do not limit this reference to the tastebuds. Bamboo shoots do not a chinese dish make. The food was overpriced and mediocre, and I've given the restaurant several tries. The ambience is snooty and quasi-chic, and the service is tepid. Pros: Cool interior design, valet, variety on menu Cons: Located on Westheimer, Over-priced, Undisciplined kids more

Yum Yum! 11/6/2002

P.F. Changs is the best Asian cuisine I have ever had! My fav's are the chicken lettuce wraps for an appetizer and you have to try Phillip's Better Lemon Chicken-so good! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I would also recomend the Sea Bass although it's the most expensive thing on the menu, but it is great! Pros: Good atmosphere, Great service, Great food Cons: Long wait at door, crowded more
