Oakview Animal Hospital

I would not recommend Minton Animal Hospital to anyone. We took our cat there a few weeks ago for an annual checkup and rabies shot. We requested that she be tested for feline leukemia. The tech administered her the feline leukemia vaccine BEFORE testing her. \r \r During a follow up phone call, the tech blatantly lied to us stating that we decline both the feline leukemia and Bartonella tests after receiving an informational handout. We NEVER received this handout, nor did we decline either test. We REQUESTED the test. We never would have had our cat vaccinated without testing her first. \r \r A day after our appointment, our cat started sneezing (several times per day). Over the next two weeks, she became very lethargic and would not eat. Regrettably, we took her back to the same vet. They diagnosed her with a "virus" and had a fever. This place stinks, I would avoid it at all cost, They told us our dog had Liver Disease a few months ago, He was checked by another vet. yesterday and he is just fine! Then they wanted over $400 to run additional test on him.\r \r \r \r more

This is the sworn statement I made to the authorities. \r \r Thank you for your time reading this. I had sent this letter originally to Melbourne and was notified my address is in your jurisdiction.\r On March 26, 2013 at about 1645HRS. J. Scott Hemenway, came to my home at 1540 Seneca Drive Melbourne and assaulted me claiming I owe his company for vet services.\r He came to my door unannounced and unexpected. He is the vet we have owed almost 1000$ to for about three years.\r We have been paying him off bit buy bit, and got the bill down to just under $360. \r I had called the Minton Animal Hospital and asked if I could come down and pay $300 to pay off the debt and was told yes. I am not sure if this was January/December or November. This of course is a civil matter. It was a simple dispute until Mr. Hemenway came to my home and on my doorstep took his bill I had returned “RETURN TO SENDER”, shoved it into my chest and screamed at me that there was something wrong with my mail service. more

Good reviews are either from when this this place was run by the previous owner or the current staff!! STAY AWAY from this establishment!! I've been taking my dogs here for a couple years for their shots because it was, gasp, convenient. I've noticed that this office is snarky, unprofessional, overcharges and has zero grasp of customer service. This last time took the cake. Blatant rudeness and overcharging finally got to me. Do not take your pet here unless you like to be treated poorly, overcharged and then treated like they are doing YOU a favor by allowing you to bring your pet to them. The office manager needs to be FIRED. She looks like she just came off a bender, smoked a pack of cigarettes before work and not showered in a week yet she'll speak to you as if you're an idiot and you're interfering with her time. I read bad reviews of this place - but I had been there before (I saw the woman vet. and she was good in my opinion) - so I went back hoping I would see her. Unfortunately that was not the case. I saw Dr. Hemenway. I took my cat in there because he was vomiting nonstop. This man was very cold when "examining" my pet (which was a joke - he didn't listen to his heart, or his stomach, didn't look in his ears, didn't do much of anything other than feel his body). I tried talking to him - but he wouldn't respond to me - which I found so uncomfortable and odd. Then he looked at me and said "I dont' know what to tell you, it could be many things". He then said - "You" (meaning ME) "You will have to decided the course of action". OMG - I didn't go to school for this - if I could decide the course of action I wouldn't have been there. I took my ill cat in there because they were open on the weekend and my regular vet was closed. First let me say I have a dog with epilepsy so I have spent a lot of time in vets offices and with vets. When we went to Minton Animal Hospital we saw Dr. J. Scott Hemenway. My cat has a runny nose, crud in his eyes, soft wet stools but not diarrhea, he got sick 1 time, and he's been lying around since then which is very unusual. Because my cat is only 9 weeks old and 1.5 pounds I was very worried about him and they knew it. Dr. Hemenway did his very quick exam which consisted of running his finger over his ears to make it look like he looked in them, but I know he didn?t really looked inside there is no way he didn?t even open up the cats ear and look inside it. ALL the vets I have ever been to look inside animals ears with a magnifying instrument but Dr. Hemenway did not. He then picked up my cat and gave him a quick look, fluffed the hair on his back then put him on the ground to see more

We moved up here a year and a half ago from Broward County with our Older female Chihuahua. We knew that she had a heart condition and was on medications for it when we transferred her care to Minton Animal Hospital. After REPEATING ALL of the tests and studies that she had PREVIOUSLY had (And PAYING for them a SECOND time), and hearing ONCE again that she had PERHAPS a year left, we FELT that she was in good hands... BOY WERE WE EVER WRONG! After Maintaining her on her medications since January, when she took a turn for the worse last week, the Doctor and Staff REFUSED to call her in a medication that she had PREVIOUSLY been on (and that they KNEW about) UNLESS we brought her in for an examination, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW HER DIAGNOSIS HAD NOT CHANGED! Instead we decided to CHANGE Vets to a more compassionate Animal Center for either her "transition" or further care, as I will NEVER again allow a Vet who ONLY cares about generating an Office Visit, tests, and MORE FEE$ even BREATHE on more

I have taken my cats to them for several years. Everyone is pleasant. Once I thought the Dr. was not as thorough checking the cat; but next time he spent a lot of time. I do not like the girls at the desk answering questions or giving advise when I call. I've learned ASK FOR THE DOCTOR TO CALL YOU. They seem a bit expensive, but provide a lot of paperwork (picture) and attention to the animals. Tips to others: Just be sure to ask questions of the doctor till you get all your answers...communication is always best. I'd prefer an "all cat" clinic but have yet to find one in my area. One of my cats is under treatment for severe constipation so "the jury is out" on whether I'm totally satisfied as she's not well yet. more

Our dog was having lots of problems and we noticed he needed to go to the doctors. We live really near this hospital, made an emergency apt and got him in. They advised us he needed fluid work, urination test, and x rays. To me it didn't make any sense so i did research and found out this was the cheapest place to go. If our dog lastest longer than he did we would have put him on a plan from Banfield (in Petsmart). Its like dog insurance. We found out that we had to put our dog to sleep because he had cancer and a big tumor. The doctor didn't seem too friendly at all and it wasn't as professional as I would have liked it to be. At that time we paid for everything and didn't bother to look at the bill because we were so hurt and afterwards we noticed that we were charged for things that we shouldnt have been charged for at all. We never consented for them to do any of what was done nor we did we approve it. We never bothered to get the money back because we thought it was a hassle. The people there did stay open later than they were supposed to, which was really nice of them, and the front desk people were nice. They sent us a sympathy card and we sent one back. The cremation was nice because when we picked his ashes up they had a note in there, his ashes in a plastic box and a piece of his hair tied on it. But I'm pretty sure this cremation place is used in most hospitals around town. The staff wasn't too bad but I wish they would have seemed like they cared more than expected (it was hard) and the doctor was a little more considering. The doctor came out from the back and just threw the xrays up and in a sentence (basically) that he had cancer and a tumor the size of a softball & we needed to put him to sleep. I would try recommending somewhere else first but again this is the 1st time we had to take him anywhere. Pros: Nice nurses Cons: Charging more

Thank you Minton road animal hospital for every thing you did for our dog swiper you guys saved his live and we wouldn't of been able to do anything for him without the help from you even if we didn't get him back at least we know he's alive and doing good GOD BLESS MINTON ANIMAL HOSPITAL! From the moment I walked in the front door I was approached with smiling faces and my animals were greeted with "Hello's" and pettings on the head. They took care of all my questions and concerns and they also offered my pets a treat after their visit was over. The doctor's took their time with me and my pet and the technician was so kind to my pet. The receptionist was very professional and kind. I would recommened Minton Animal Hospital to anyone who want gentle care for their pets and compationate understanding to the client. more

Under its new ownership, I have found that Minton Animal Hospital's Customer Service has significantly declined. Although the Doctors are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, the receptionist, Destiny, was rude and obnoxious. There are several local alternatives who pride themselves on Customer Satisfaction. I would seek out an alternative. PROS: Knowledgeable Doctors CONS: Rude receptionist with horrible customer skills. more

This is a new vet clinic to me, and I found them to be very courteous, very kind, and ready to help me with any question I had. They got me in quickly, and when I've needed to "drop" in for products (flea control), they have been quite accomodating. This is a great place!! more
