The Worst experience Ever! 3/21/2004

I had the worst experience at Nobu miami. First of all, they didn't give us an option to choose what kind of water we'd like..(paid $24 for three bottles of fiji +bean that they brought out---thought it was free..but i was wrong..another $6). Also waiter was keep telling me what i ordered didn't go with other dish..who cares? i want that DISH!!....Plus it took us three hours to finish eating cause service was so slow..Sushi wasn't fresh at all and bill was over $350 for four of us....one of the worst experience ever! Pros: Location, None, None Cons: , Rip off, Food more

over priced establishment 2/16/2004

It was Thursday night. 3 of us had to wait almost 2 hours to get seat. which it was fine..enjoyed atmosphere and all the fab people I had to look. The service was unforgettful that I wish I could remember the waiter's name. BUT the price for sushi is just way to outstanding. Nowadays, you are paying for quality, value, atmosphere and reputation but valueing amount of food isn't a bad idea... more

value 6/10/2003

The food was good No doubt about it, but when you know how much you have paid for such small portions you tend to pick and judge the taste and culinary value of the dish. There were definitely a few more items that I knew tasted obscure and off-balance compared to it's New York location. I guess Nobu regrettably has to localize their staff as well. I don't like the fact that you have to eat in a hotel with uncomfortable seats and tables. I guess that's what I don't like about eating at 'Fab' places, you end up paying to judge dishes / atmosphere / comfort / service, and forget to really enjoy the conversation you could have had with you friends. more

A Sobe must see! 2/18/2003

Nobu is just as wonderful here as it is in NYC. It is housed in the trendy and fun Shore Club Hotel. The rock shrimp and sashimi salad are the best appetisers. The soft shell crab, spicy tuna, shrimp tempora and eel rolls are excellent! This place has it all, a great bar for drinks prior and the Sky bar is right outside which is phenominal and fun. Lay in the hammok and enjoy the views! Pros: Atmosphere, Food more

Is this a real NOBU? 1/15/2003

I have eaten many times at Nobu in NY and even at Nobu in London and at Matsuhisa in Los Angeles. I was extremely disappointed at Nobu in Miami! The sushi was not fresh, there was very little shrimp in my shrimp tempura - only breadcrumbs and the deserts were dried up. As for the service - what a disaster - I did not see my waiter from the time he took the order to the time he presented my check - which included two extra bottles of sake which we never received. An extremely disappointing experience! more

Fine Dining in Miami 12/26/2002

Nobu was execptional. Our first visit was great. We ordered the 5 house specialty dishes; the Cod, Tuna, salad, etc. Check with the waiter, for the house specialties. Order the 5, they are $20 each, which is not bad for a couple. Our bill was $150 with two glasses of wine. Get the Cod, it may be the best dish that I have ever had, anywhere. The service was good, but got better because my wife had met the host in another restaraunt. It was barely acceptable until he came over to our table. It makes me wonder, after all, Nobu is still on South Beach, where the service is typically bad. Great, Great food, I can't wait to go back!!! Pros: Food, Food, Food Cons: South Beach Attitude more

Way too much hype! 12/23/2002

Nobu was not what I expected it to be. The waiter would suggest things that were way overpriced and skimped, me acting like a fool went along and tried his suggestions. The bill was over $250 for 4 people. The atmosphere is dark but nice, but the hotel that Nobu is in( The Shore Club) is different. Its very sheik and its hard to get around. Altogether the food is decent at Nobu in Miami but it is certainetly not worth the money. Pros: Fresh Sushi Cons: Expensive, Can be crowded, Skimped sushi more

NOT WORTH IT 11/4/2002

From the moment you walk in the door, they've got their hand in your wallet. They add the gratuity to all checks so the waiter tries to pump the check by recommending the tasting menus (there are 3 of them) or offering to create a ""personalized tasting menu based on your preferences"" (translated: I will bring you the most expensive things on the menu in succession until you TELL me to stop). I felt like I was fighting with the waiter to avoid ordering a 6 course meal) the poor guy sitting one table over from me ended up with a $1300 check for 4 people because the waiter railroaded him into ordering the signature dishes and the ""special"" sushi and carafe of ""good"" sake (and it was good sake but it was very expensive). The room desperately needs remodeling. But otherwise the service was impeccable. more

Nobu is hipper than your average sushi bar. There's no sign on the hotel where it resides, no sign on the restaurant, no way to find it without asking. Inside, Nobu is spare, and...
