Best date night ever 7/24/2008

Remember that "Match dot com" commercial where the two people are sitting in a sushi bar on their first date, pledging their undying affection? After a meal at musashi, you'll be in the mood to fall in love! My date and I arrived at the restaurant a few weeks ago on a Friday night (we've tried almost every sushi bar in Metro Detroit, so we're hard to please!). The owner greeted us at the front, which I love. We were seated immediately in the lively sushi bar area (there are also really intimate private booths and private rooms in the back). Our service was extremely prompt--our server helped up pick out a bottle of sake we could afford, and allowed us to taste the Japanese grain alcohol for free! The sushi chefs worked so quickly, it was so fun to watch them create the food. We tried the Alaskan Roll, Bamboo Roll, a half dozen pieces of nigiri, and Chef Yao's Magnifico Roll. The nigiri was absolutely the freshest I've ever tried at a restaurant in Detroit. Just delicious. The Chef Yao roll was made with rice that was deep-fried in tenpura batter--I know, weird!--and then, each wafer of rice was topped with a cream of the spicy tuna, hamachi, and Mexican salmon, then topped with different colors of roe (caviar) on top. The fruit on the side was cut beautifully to accent this "deconstructed roll." For the end, our server advised us to try the cheesecake tenpura instead of the mochi ice cream, which we were leaning toward. She was right! The deep-fried cheesecake was served with chocolate and orange sauce--to die for!!! Many people like to eat sushi for the cheap--I've been there. But if you want to experience the true possibilities of sushi and nigiri in Detroit, this is the best place to start! Pros: Great food, terrific ambience, free parking in the Town Center, wonderful service, quiet and perfect for talking Cons: Expensive--but it's worth it! No bar area more

I love Musashi! We have gone here for years and I have taken many clients there for lunch or dinner as they never disappoint. If you get a chance go! more

Excellent!! 2/9/2004

The food and the sushi is great, but it is a bit costly. Service is excellent!! I would recommend this place to everyone. Its better than Benehana any day!! more

expensive but elegant 10/27/2002

I disagree with the person that says that the fish was frozen. besides, you get sick eating raw frozen seafood. good selection of sushi, noodles, tenpura, and other japanese delicacies. Nice but expensive date place. more
