This was my first visit to the salon. I found the experience to be very pleasant. I came into the salon with a very bad hair cut and color from a previous salon. It was in SERIOUS need of repair. My stylist really listened to me and took great patience, time, and effort to understand all my concerns and needs . When I left the salon my hair was transformed into a modern and beautiful style.The cut and color were perfect! The salon staff were very friendly, the price points are extremely reasonable, and I found the atmosphere to be very personable and inviting. more

**NOT RECOMMENDED** ONE AWFUL STYLIST WHO MISCOLOURED MY HAIR, TREATED ME RUDELY AND HIGHLY CHARGED ME. I was spoken to rudely when I arrived, the reception staff are very blazay, they act as if they couldnt care less about you are being there. The stylist barely spoke to me and when she did, she spoke condescendingly. The whole atmosphere is very 'pole in my behind' She left me sitting for 45 mins while she went and had a smoke, came back and washed my hair and I could smell cigarette all over her, it consumed my breathe. It was horrible. They then charged me $70 for re-touching my roots! and they were a different brassy colour than the rest of my hair. 2 1/4 hours later for re-touch to roots. A joke. Admittedly I was 15 mins late for my appointment, as I had never been to Tempe before, I wasnt perfect on the directions and there is minimal parking. I would have rather re-booked than be told off like a child that "I was lucky she had an opening because when your that late, they usually cant help you" by Braidy. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS-SAVE YOUR MONEY and your dignity DO NOT go to Mood Swings. My sister has a salon and if her staff ever treated me like that, she would have them sacked. Mood Swings is phenomenal. The atmosphere is perfect, with great music, contemporary art, and friendly people. Its that time of the month that I take care of myself, and I always look forward to it. My stylist is Nici DiGregory--she's awesome! We always have great conversation, and she always gets it just right. She even helped me find a new style that I'm comfortable with. more

Im so excited that Khristine is back in AZ and at Mood Swings. I have very thick, curly hair and absolutely no one but Khris can do my hair like this. I just love it ...and her. This women is so special! more

Everyone knows how frustrating it can be to maintain red hair.... It's also frustrating to get vibrant shades of red without looking like you're wearing a wig... Janessa did an amazing job on my hair. I've never been so satisfied with reds this vibrant without feeling self conscious about looking too fake. She put just the right amount of red panels in my hair to achieve the look I wanted. I'd definitely recommend seeing Janessa if you're interested in getting color done. The cut she gave me is amazing as well. I can actually easily style it at home. Again, I HIGHLY recommend seeing Janessa! more

Since I have moved here, I have not found anyone that has been able to give me a great pedciure. what makes a great pedicure in my opinion is adressing the needs of the individual. For me personally, I go for the exfollation , this takes time and patience, Katie listened to my needs and spent time making sure my feet felt soft. It was relaxing, she was personable and everything was extremely clean. For sure will go again, and worth every penny. Pros: Katie Cons: none more

After extensive online research of where to go for my very first brazillian wax, I was sold on Kelly at Mood Swings as I read so many positive reviews. I made my appt just days before going on a very special trip and I was very nervous for all to go well. Kelly made me feel SO comfortable, like I was just talking with an old friend. She gave me so many tips and precautions as I entered the brave new world of bikini waxing. She said "the first time is the worst time"... but really it wasn't half as bad as I expected. I am sold! I went to Moodswings for their special on eyebrows (make sure to check for specials on their website before you go). The girl who did my eyebrows did a decent job, and she seemed fairly knowledgeble when I asked questions. I get really annoyed when I go to a salon and they try to push all kinds of products, this girl did try to get me into coloring my eyebrows, but other than that she wasn't pushy or obnoxious. I went to Stephen after having my hair repeatedly textured and butchered to death. He took his time, completely fixed my hair, and I can't wait to go back. It's honestly one of the best cuts I've ever received, and I am pretty darn pickey. more

I went to Mood Swings after an other hair salon totally screwed up my hair. I was very sad and wanted it to be fixed and went to Mood Swings Salon after doing some research on the web. The lady at the front desk was so friendly and immediately looked if somebody was availabe cuz I was a "walk in". I got hooked up with Chere' and she was so friendly! She did a GREAT job fixing my bad hair and I walked away totally happy! My husband liked my haircut so much that he immediately called up for an appointment with Chere' cuz he needs a good haircut bad :). Pros: Super friendly and professional. Hip and modern look. I have been a client at Mood Swings for a little over a year now. I was referred to Kelly after a nightmare experience at a hole in the wall waxing shop. Eyebrowswhat eyebrows! You can imagine how sensitive I was entering a new salon looking like I took a razor to my own eyebrows. Kelly was highly recommended so I thought I would give her a shot. At this point I had nothing to lose. Kelly was very professional, witty and welcoming. She mentioned nothing of the challenge she was about to embark on. Within a few short months Kelly was able to reshape my eyebrows and I swear they have never looked better! I get complimented on them quit frequently and always have Kellys card handy. Recently she approached me about turning in my razor for a Brazilian wax. After much convincing I gave in. She continues to wow me. This girl is amazing and I will continue to give her the highest recommendation to anyone that asks. I have been to Mood Swings many times over the past 3 years and have always come out satisfied. There seems to be much less ego here. I've had massages before the remodel, and hair cuts with Angie and Amanda. They have both listened carefully and responded positively to solve my curly hair. They both are awesome at cutting it the right way.....not the typical way. I've recently gotten hooked on the pedicures by Amanda. She is like a friend taking care of me. Very nice, very personal. Oh, they always offer you something to drink, right away. From the people at the desk, guys and gals, to the stylists, they are EGO-FREE, which is a rareity in the business. I have lived in Phoenix a year and have had problems finding a good salon. One day I made an appointment to have my hair cut/colored and it was fantastic. Rachel is my stylist and she is probably one of the best I've ever had. I always leave in a great mood and we always have great conversations. The salon is very open and airy, with good music and everyone is friendly. I have never been disappointed and have finally learned to do new things with my hair. I definately recommend it! I went there for my facial simply because it is rated as the Winner of Best Facial of 2006 on CitySearch. My experience there was completely negative and came out very disappointed and feeling that I had just lost $80+ for nothing. The person I had was inexperienced, I wasn't sure what she was doing and was not informed what would be done on my face up front. The scalp massage that I chose to have was so ineffective that I didn't feel anything, I could've ran my fingers through my hair myself! She spent little time cleanning my pores, spent more time on just massaging the face. I came out of the room with still much blackheads, other breakouts/pimples on my face, along with some clay/mask residues on parts of my face. Pros: None Cons: Inexperienced/novice staff more

I am new to the area and we all know how hard finding a hairdresser can be! I called for a haircut and was scheduled with Rachel. I had a great experience overall and came out with the style that I was looking for. She answered all of my questions and did not pressure me to buy products. She did write down all of the products she used and I will most likely purchase them in the future. The music is not too loud; I was easily able to have a conversation. The reception called to follow up a few days later about my experience, something NO salon has ever done for me before. I called Mood Swings after recieving a gift certificate and asked about a facial for my troubled skin. The gentleman on phone was extremely helpful booking me the right facial for my skin and the right person for the job. This was quite oppositte of typical "attitude" you get from big salons. My "rejuvination facial" was with Kelly and I was blown away by her knowledge, and concern for my skin. Not only was the facial amazing but she was able to give me some tips for my skin at home, recommended products and discussed the possible factors contributing to my ongoing breakouts. I was really comfortable and my skin is usually really embarassing for me. The extractions and blackhead removal was uncomfortable, she warned me they would be. Just a salon in a college town..disappointed with the high priced services. I had my hair done there a couple of times. The girl made me look like Tina Turner while she chatted away with one of her coworkers about boyfreinds and relationships. I went back to get my hair fixed by another gir. Nice airy place but the music is extremely loud and overall not worth it for what you pay! more

I was pleasantly suprised by the attitudes and the atmosphere of this salon based on previous reviews. I had a wonderful experience with my mani/pedi and then leg wax. I brought my younger sister to Mood Swings after a couple of bad hair cuts at other salons - we even met with a stylist before any appointment to make sure it would be a good experience. The stylist was wonderful: very friendly, a great listener, cooperative, and experienced. My sister and I thought we had been clear with our expectations - we wanted a conservative cut with some natural color woven in. The stylist gave my sister a fantastic cut and showed her some creative ways to style it, but the color was disappointing. Apparently, our stylist had a different definition of "conservative" than we had. I thought the color looked too chunky and definitely not natural! Overall, I'd go there again, because of the wonderful atmosphere, and the great customer service, I'll just make sure I am very clear on expectations - especially color!
