What a great place! 4/23/2009

The owner is a great, friendly host, and makes you feel like you are at a party at his house! Everything on the menu is delicious, my favorite is the fresh Pescado de Tito, (our toddler loves it too, and loves dancing to the music). It gets loud, and yes, it is small, but this is not a place for uptight, picky people. We have been visiting for years and can't wait to go back! Pros: Wonderful food, great hosts Cons: parking can be tough more

Service is horrible 1/24/2009

I never got to try the food because I was told to leave the restaurant. When we first called to make reservations for 7:45, we were told that we'll be seated with no problem. We arrived at about 7:35 and the girl said it would be about 10-15 minute wait. The place is super tiny, the size of my kitchen and dining room. It's also very loud, so there is no good place to wait, unless you want to crowd over folks still at the tables. So we went back to the car. After 15 minutes we came in, where a guy (i presume the owner) said it would be a 25 minute wait now. I tried to explain that we were already here earlier. He said he does not need to server us if he does not want to, and opened the door for me to leave the restaurant. I have never received service this bad anywhere in Seattle. Maybe the U-District location is better, but I am completely turned off from trying either one again. more

Love this place!!! 4/7/2008

I'm always a little apprehensive about trying a new type of food, so I hesitated to try this tiny place, but it was AMAZING!!! The food was delicious and the service was top notch! Their home-made Sangria was the best I've ever had and, again, the service was spectacular and VERY personable! I've never written a review for a restaurant before, but I had such a good experience here that I HAD to rave about it! The music was very loud so it was hard to talk, but the ambiance was fun so it was worth it. Pros: Ambiance, Service, SANGRIA, food Cons: Loud more

Fantastic! 3/20/2008

Fantastic everything! La Casa De Mojito is outrageous on all levels. Drinks, food, atmosphere, music, people - the vibe is fabulous!! My friends and I can't get enough. La Parilla is excellent, of course the Mojitos are a blast and the flan is delicious but don't go without having the tortilla espanola and a cafe con leche and be transported to another world!! All else I can say is Spectacular!!! Viva Mojito! Ciao. Pros: Todo Cons: Nada more

Great food, not so comfy 3/12/2008

I went to the University location instead of Lake City; not sure how they compare. Food was excellent (something I almost never say about a restaurant), nice portion sizes (ie not 3x as much as a human can eat), friendly prompt service. Only complaints: it was too cold in there, a bit too dark, and the paintings and decor were better than restaurant generic but still kind of blah. Pros: Food Cons: Ambience more

Really great food and personable staff! 2/14/2008

Please note: This restaurant has moved to University Way (and 52nd). The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! So are the mojitos...probably the best I've had! I love restaurants that give you the opportunity to know the owner...it makes the experience more personable. The owner takes time to sit and talk with his customers, so you get some of the background about the restaurant and the food. Tables can be pushed together to accommodate larger groups and there's really cool artwork on the walls (created by a cousin). My only complaint is that it's always really cold inside during the winter and I have to keep my coat on. Pros: Tasty Latin food with personal attention from owner Cons: Not a lot of heat to keep you warm in the winter more

Great Drinks, Food and Service 1/4/2008

It's phenomenol! Try the Vaca Frita, tostones with lots of garlicy mojito sauce, drink the capirinhas and mojitos for ultimate pleasure. We've been eating here for a couple years now and the service (if Luam is there, and he usually is) is the best around...he's warm, friendly, knows our order before we sit down. If crowds aren't your thing, go a bit early...we don't have trouble though we're usually early because we have a child. We brought a friend from Columbia who also thought the food and drinks were fabulous. Pros: personal service, great drinks, great food Cons: small place if you get a busy night more

BEST FOOD AND DRINKS!!! 3/11/2007

I have been coming here since it was Mojito Cafe. Since splitting with Mojito Cafe and becoming La Casa Del Mojito, they have only improved dramatically!!!!!! I tried the dowtown Mojito Cafe and I would never go back! La Casa Del Mojito is small, but ADORABLE!!! The REALLY hot staff doens't hurt a bit!!! Tito and Luam are FOXES!!!!!! Pros: FOOD DRINKS ATMOSPHERE HOTTIES!!! Cons: it's small more

Great experience! Increadible Service! Mouth watering food! 1/26/2007

I'd have to say this is definitly the warmerst spot in the city. Today was my second time I've been there. They remembered me and my drink and made me feel as if they have known me forever. The food was so delicious I have to tell all of my friends. Great music, fantastic staff, superb drinks! I can't wait to go there with a group of friends. You'll love it and I'm sure I'll see you there. more

one of my favorite places in Seattle 11/21/2006

Here, the service and the atmosphere is EVERYTHING. Not to mention that the food is very good, this is the sort of place that you want to come and just let loose. Wonderful for after work, while not a place where you have to deal with the downtown traffic and parking. You can just come in when you like, enjoy some drinks, music and dancing, and have a great time. I have eaten here numerous times over the years, and although I miss what used to be their "artistic wall notes", I still enjoy the decor and music. Luom and the guys are great! Pros: food, service, parking, music, atmosphere more

Great food and drinks! 8/10/2006

I recently had lunch at Casa Del Mojito and WOW, was it ever delicious. The food is amazing! So many wonderful flavors! Mostly pork and chicken dishes, but they have a couple of veggie options, too. The portions are HUGE. And the drinks--YUM!! They have tasty mojitos, but also other delicious traditional drinks. (They have non-alcoholic specialty drinks, too.) The very nice-looking men that work there are attentive and friendly. They made sure we were enjoying our food and that we had everything we needed. And for those of you who have little ones, they seem to be welcome at lunchtime. (Not sure about dinner) If you like spicy, flavorful, traditional Latin-Carribbean food, you will love this place, too! Pros: Food, service, indoor and outdoor seating Cons: Inside is small-ish and it's not in a location to be noticed more

Best Latin American Food in the United States 6/21/2006

We have been coming to La Casa del Mojito before it was La Casa del Mojito and we can't stop! This is the best place to go for authentic Latin American cuisine and a night of great fun. You can eat, drink, and dance the night away all at a small neighborhood restaurant with a family feeling. The owners quickly become some of your closest friends and always make you feel like you are the only ones in the restaurant. It is the best! more

Awesomely Declicious & Fun! 9/25/2005

I live in this neighborhood and have reccomended this restaurant to everyone I know. The food is awesome, the Mojitos are the best I have had on the West Coast and the owners are some of the nicest people I have met in the restaurant business. They are stand up guys who really care about their customers. The last time I was there one of the owners was dancing salsa with a shy 7 year oldgirl who was giggling incessantly and having a great time. This restaurant is truly unique and a gem. Its great to go to with your family, on a date or for a girls night. This is one of my fav restaurants in Seattle. Pros: Fun, Great Food, Great Service more

Amazing....a must try! 8/29/2005

The Lake City Way location in the Maple Leaf neighborhood has split from the larger restaurant downtown and the owner is there to greet you, take the orders and make sure everything is exactly as you would like it. This was our first visit and regulars kept flowing in. Owner seemed to know everyone and many were greeted with hugs. Tasty and interesting drinks and food was fresh and authentic. Felt I could have been in the owner's kitchen with his mother doing all of the cooking. The room is small, but festive. The kind of place we hope will be around a long time. Pros: delicious, friendly owner, festive Cons: tiny place more

Worst Service I've ever received. 10/5/2004

This was the most horrible restaurant experience I've ever had. We made reservations for 8. Upon arrival, there was a loooonnnngggg wait to get service. Once seated, we re-ordered our drinks repeatedly because they weren't brought. The appetizer we ordered never showed up (but was on our bill). Our dinner took forever to arrive, and once it came they said two people in our group didn't order dinner (but they did) so they didn't get dinner. Our bill was completely wrong - we were charged for things we didn't order. When we complained to the manager about our experience, he said "I'm sorry" but did not offer anything in compensation. It was the worst customer service I've received. more

Service puleeeeeeeze 7/31/2004

The food was good but not exceptional and it was overpriced for the portion. The place was needlessly loud. We sat inside and even the waiter (when he showed up) could not hear. I SAID GET A CLUE. TURN IT DOWN! The mojito is okay but I've had better (Barbacoa's for one). The worst part was the 45 minutes it took for us to get and pay for our bill, despite repeated requests. We were ready to walk out to see if they could even see us. I won't be going back. Try Buena Vista instead. When I walked up to ask the waiter AGAIN, he said, "Man, you're killing me." Oh sorry, I thought I was the customer. Get another clue. Pros: decent food, okay mojito, nice outdoor seating Cons: , overpriced, lousy service more

Mojito In My Ojito! 8/21/2003

Mojito in my little eye! This restaurant sucked lime big time. Si si! It was just like my mother's cooking which was baaaad! Actually my mother's cooking was un poquito better. Maybe I should have had their mojitos. It would've made it easier for me to swallow the thick unflavorful plantains, dry beans and overdone steak(it was suppose to be medium!). A couple of mojitos would have also helped me endure the food. Maybe that's why they emphasize so much on the mojitos. Gotta get the people buzzed so that they won't be able to detect how bad the food is. Not only is the food bad, but the waiters can't get half of the order right. They also take forever in bringing the check back. Hmm maybe too much mojito going on here. It's a mojito conspiracy. Never ever will I go back here. Blasphemy to good latin food! Pros: they have a bathroom, nice latin decor, water Cons: wrong orders, bland food, long wait more

La Comida Sabrosa 7/30/2003

Mojito's cafe is one of the most excellent Latin American restaurants that i have visited here in the North West. Being from latin America myself, i find the food to be authentic in taste, style and manner of presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant takes me back home with its rhythmic beats of the salsa, merengue, cumbia and machaca music. The beautiful and brightly designed tables also gives one a feeling of being somewhere where the sun shines, the people are warm and beachs are inviting. All who work at Mojitos display the warmth and friendliness one can expect of the Latin culture and they also make you feel welcome and comfortable. I would wholeheartedly recommend eating at Mojitos if one wishes to experience the authenticity of Latin American culture and food and to those who have made this all possible, Muchas Gracias y Viva La Cultura Latinoamericana. Pros: Inexpensive, generous portions, warm service Cons: restaurant a bit smal more

LOUD! 11/29/2002

It's got good food, but it's very small, crowded and loud. Pros: food, ample parking Cons: tiny dining area, noise level more

Mojito Cafe =Delicious Fun! 11/17/2002

Mojito Cafe not only has the best Latin food in all of Seattle--their food is as good or better than what you would get if you were actually IN Venezuela, Colombia, or Cuba. The Mojitos are excellent, service is great, and the atmosphere is fun. Although small, it is defnitely worth it to wait a few minutes for a seat. And once you've been served , and can bear to take a moment from eating your meal and look around, you will notice that everyone is happy! Come for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner--either way, you'll have a fully satisfying and upbeat time! more

  • In Short
Tiny tables are happily shoved aside to make room for live music, while food is patiently explained to newcomers of Venezuelan and Colombian cuisine. All plates are accompanied by thick cakes of smashed plantains, fried crisp and topped with spicy avocado dip. Plates of parrilla (grilled steak or chicken) present charred exteriors and tender insides that are served with plenty of flavorful rice and black beans.
