Derrick is my hairstylist for a good four years now. But even so, every single time when I go to get my hair done by him it feels like a first time great experience. From the moment that I have a sit in his chair , until the moment when he is doing his last touch up everythig is just ...wonderfull. No doubt he is a very talented hairstylist and when you watch him working you can see that he is in love with what is he doing. All that passion and love that he has for his work can be seen in the quality of the colour and the cut that he gives me every time. I moved to St. Louis from Chicago 1 1/2 years ago. My first expeirence with a local stylist ended with me losing 6 inches of hair to even out the ""mullett cut"" I received. Needless to say, I was soooo nervous to try again. Michael Isaiah Designs has very high ratings, so I gave it a shot. Being a first time client, my stylist, Ella spent a considerable amount of time reviewing photographs of different styles and hues that would compliment my complexion. This was the first time I have been able to walk out of a salon full of confidence in that I looked ""really good"" instead of going home to wet it down and doing it the way I like it. I had a really nice experience. Chance cut my hair and she was very good at answering questions and listening to what I wanted. I felt comfortable. The front desk girls seemed a little snobbish but the stylists interacted well with customers. I'm new to St. Louis, seriously needed a haircut but naturally was very nervous trusting my hair to a new salon and a new stylist. So I did what any of you fellow city searchers would do...I got online to read reviews, make an educated decision and then take a leap of faith. Michael Isaiahs and more specifically Ella Ravicovich far surpassed my expectations and is to date the best salon experience I've ever had. The salon itself is fun, hip, warm and super casual. Ella is phenomenal and incredibly gracious. Between traffic and getting lost I was a half hour late to my appointment, felt terrible but she completely brushed it off and never made me feel like I was inconviencing her. She listened to what I said I wanted, gave me her opinions and gave me the exact haircut I was picturing and better. I LOVE my haircut and instantaneously felt like a new woman. On top of being an incredible stylist, she's extremely personable and has a great blend of class and sass. In one visit I found my stylist and made a new friend. How often can you truly say that?! I have been going to Ella for about two years now and I have to say she is an excellent stylist. I too followed her to Michael Isaiah from her previous salon. She is always giving good advice and suggestions for a new look. The thing that I like most, is every time you get a new cut or style she explains exactly what she has done and how you can do it to. Ella gets to know all of her clients and then provides color, cut, etc. suggestions based on your personal style and personality. I am getting married this month and each time I see Ella she has something new to show me to make sure that I feel great on my wedding day. In addition, this salon is awesome!!!! Michael Isaiah has a very posh and trendy atmosphere. The staff are very polite and courteous and even offer me coffee or water. Ella is an impressive stylist and she everytime I see her she gives me exactly the look I want and more. She also gives out great recommendations when I am seeking color and style advice and she knows all of the latest TIGI products. She is even a TIGI ambassador. Now I have my aunt and brother getting their hair cut by her and both of them have the best haircut that they have had in a long time. I have gotten several compliments on the cut and the color each time after I get my hair done by Ella. I have to agree with other reviewers; this is a great place, and Ella is fantastic! I went to her when she was at another salon and followed her here. Actually my entire family goes there now because we all think she does an excellent job in cutting the hair (other stylists ask her to show them how) and she does fantastic coloring too. Ella is personable, positive and professional. I always have a compliment on my hair after she does it; my haircut looks young but I can wear it to my conservative job. Ask for Priscilla! She is amazing with color and style! She has been my stylist for almost two years and has never steered me wrong. I first came to see her with a botched box color job, she was able to take the screw up that I had done myself and turn in into a ""head turning"" hair color. She has kept me in style with her unique hair colors that always look natural but at the same time one of a kind. She is easy to relay your own ideas to even if you don't know how to describe them, she understands (You don't have to be fluent in hair). I have had long hair for over the past five years, but was looking for a change. I was terrified to cut it, but Priscilla gave me the perfect short, stylish, NOW hair cut (about 9 inches off), I love it and I will definitely be sticking to short for a while. Not only does she do womens hair, but I've seen some pretty hot male styles get out of her chair, too. Priscilla is also a great make-up artist. She's taught me a lot about the latest trends and tricks in make-up colors and techniques. She can do pretty much everything. I always look forward to seeing her. Micheal Isaiahs carries the TIGI line of hair and make-up products. It's the best I've ever used. They have competitive pricing and a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Michael Isaiah has consistently exceeded my expectations over the years. As a firm believer in the statement that you get what you pay for, I can assert that this statement couldn't be more true of this salon. I gladly spend my money there because I always leave feeling great and loving my cut and color--even strangers frequently stop me to ask where I get my hair done! Moreover, the atmosphere at Michael Isaiah is very hip and up-to-date, and it's obvious the stylists are current and aware of the trends, but they take care to be professional. Additionally, I am always welcomed by the staff--usually by name (!)--and feel pampered from start to finish. My over a decades experience there has made me a loyal customer, as you can tell, but I assure you they have earned it one appointment at a time. Without question, Michael Isaiah is the leading salon in St. Louis and I'm sure other salons try to imitate it, but the talent and integrity you will find there cannot be matched! I wanted a big change and decided to try Michael Isaiah Designs based on the promising reviews. While the staff was very friendly, I ended up feeling a little less than excited about the finished product. As I mentioned, I was looking for a complete change, but left with a shorter version of the same haircut and almost the same color. Not to mention the services are completely overpriced. I can't imagine spending that much for an average haircut/color every 6-8 weeks. Overall, I was a little disappointed. I decided to try this salon after reading all the rave reviews, even though I do live kinda far. I've tried many salons after moving to the midwest, but was disappointed every time. The last stylist totally butchered my hair and thinned it out too much. It took me three months to grow most of it back and I was scared about getting my hair cut again. It turned out, this place was wonderful! It was hip and funky, but also inviting and relaxing. My stylist listened as I described to her how I wanted my hair to look and she discussed with me how it can be revived. She was very experienced, super nice, and did a great job. I love Michael Isaiah's!!!! I have been going to Melissa there for my hair for over 3 years! The whole salon is a wonderful place! You will feel like you are visiting at a friends home when you are there. It isa very friendly and upbeat atmosphere, where they make YOU FEEL SPECIAL!!! My whole family goes to Michael Isaiah's, my husband enjoy's going there to get a stylish men's haircut and does not feel like he is in a foo foo place. My 4 year old also loves going there, they are a kid friendly salon, and make him feel very comfortable getting his hair cut!!! And I enjoy Michael Isaiah's the most in the family. I enjoy going there for a little ME time!!! It is a relaxing place where you can go and get away from the stress of your life!!! Several weeks ago I had my first experience with Michael Isaiah's and met Robert Banyaga for the first time. Wow...what a beginning! Robert did a beautiful job taking my hair from brown to blonde and then gave me the perfect cut. It's obvious he has top notch training and talent. The salon had a very comfortable, down-to-earth feel and great prices which made my experience even that much better. I am looking forward to future visits...and it feels great to know that I have someone I trust with my hair! more

I am SO excited to have found Michael Isaiah Designs! I had no idea what to expect, but Robert Banyaga worked his magic and gave me the best cut and color I've ever had! He's a genius! The salon itself is great, not snobby, not at all uncomfortable, everyone was extremely sweet and helpful. Robert was incredibly nice and really knew what he was doing. I went from a dark brown to a golden blonde in a matter of a couple of hours, and my hair has never looked better! If youre a mother, father, or simply someone enjoying their single life...you need to go to Michael Isaiah. I have 4 little boys so finding time for me is very hard but the effort is worthwhile when I come home looking and feeling like a million bucks. You would expect this upbeat salon to be snobby but I have never been treated with such respect from the beautiful receptionists to the highly experienced stylists. I finally got my husband to go and he now cares about his hair even using HAIR PRODUCTS! The only con I can honestly say is that I hadn't found this salon earlier!! Miracle Worker - Robert Banyaga an expert colorist at MI fixed my hair and saved my dignity. Robert transformed by damaged hair into the beautiful mane that was lying deep inside me all along.
