I have known Derrick Sharp for a little over 4 years now, and I don?t think there is a better stylist in the city of Saint Louis, or the entire Midwest. I almost don?t want to write this post because I am confident that after one hair cut or color with Derrick, you will be filling up his appointment book and taking my most coveted appointment times. When I met Derrick I was looking to break free of the monotony of my repetitive 1990?s hair cut I had been getting since high school. I was well out of college and about to start my career in medicine and needed something edgy that fit my personality, but professional that wouldn?t give my stroke patients another stroke. Before Derrick, I hadn?t met a stylist in St. Louis yet who could give my bland haircut a new lift while keeping it tame. Needless to say, he delivered and has never let me down since. I?ll never forget a time when I went to him and watched him sit there, listening to me describe this hairstyle that was a combination of Posh Spice on the January 2008 issue of Elle Magazine (google image it) and ICU PA who takes care of people who cannot be shocked into cardiac arrest. I thought he was going to tell me ?you?re out of your mind,? but instead he smiled disappeared and came back with bowls of color and started cutting. As he cut my hair, he explained what he was doing and why, as well as how to maintain the style I so anxiously wanted to have in a 3 and 6 month period. I walked out of there not only loving my haircut but coming home to my stubborn mother and convincing her to finally book an appointment with Derrick as well (goes to show that a great haircut is a powerful thing). Since then, Derrick is like family. My mother, sister, and myself have gone to him for years. He is not only the best at his trade, he is also professional, generous and kind. He sees the best qualities in each individual, and will strive to reflect that in your haircut, color and style. Side note: I also cannot say enough great things about Michael Isaiah Designs. Michael, the owner and stylist, only employs the best hair stylists (as evidenced by my review above). Let?s be honest, sometimes you feel vulnerable having your hair cut and colored. I have been to some St. Louis salons, that shall remain nameless, where everyone in is in white lab coats and it?s very?sterile. Chey is one of the best hairstylists and makeup artists out there. She knows her colors. She knows that natural elegance and can bring out that DIVA!! She makes every experience personable and enjoyable. I walk out of Michael Isaiah's looking FABULOUS every time!!! more

Robert knows his stuff. He always gives me honest advice when I ask him about any hair issue I may have. I can ask him anything about color and highlights and he can tell me exactly what it will look like when it's done, the pro and cons. He helps me make decisions I couldn't make on my own since I know nothing about hair or hair color. His expertise means quite a bit to me. I feel comfortable around him, you can tell he is an intellectual artist. Best there is...he brings Beverly Hills/Hollywood glam to St. Louis. He simply is the best. Love him. I Love CHRISTINA! She is wonderful. I look forward to going into the salon and working with her. She holds great conversation and always makes me laugh. Not only does she talk to you but so do the girls up front! I talked to one girl about topics that interest me and I felt like I was giving her great knowledge about her college choices, and felt like a teenager was listening to me. They also always greet you like they know you and dress great for their age as a working student! I have never had the same haircut twice throughout my life - have never wanted the same one....until now. Katie listened to what I said, gave me some options, and gave me the best haircut of my life! For the first time, I looked in the mirror and loved my hair immediately! I wish I lived closer to MO and could make Katie my regular stylist, but MS is just too far a drive. I have had perfect strangers stop me in the mall and comment on my haircut! If you're ever in the St. Louis area, stop at Michael Isaiah's and ask for Katie!!! Katie M. is the best hair stylist that I've had. Each time she cuts my hair she listens to what I describe and also offers solutions when I'm not sure what the best route is to take. I highly recommend Katie to you no matter what your hair type or style is. Katie is capable of meeting any hair requirement. She has a great personal style and a true knack for cutting and styling hair. I currently do not live in Missouri but I do make it a point to have my hair cut by Katie when I'm in town! Robert Banyaga makes my hair so beautiful, I am stopped numerous times DAILY only to be told how gorgeous my hair looks. He is not only skilled, professional, & excellent at what he does, but he truly cares for his clients. Robert is constantly educating himself on trends (usually long before the rest of the city is aware of them), cuts, styles, & most importantly ~ Colour. Every time I get my hair coloured, highlighted and cut from Robert, I get a ton of compliments. Even 5 weeks after my hair has been done, I get strangers coming up to me asking me where I got my hair done and how great it looks. Katie is the most talented hair stylist I have ever had. Since I have been going to her, I have received endless compliments on my hair cuts. My favorite part about her work is that she makes me look like I know how to actually style my hair, yet I am a blow dry and go person, I love it. Even if I'm over due for a cut, my hair still looks great with no styling. I highly recommend making an appointment with Katie and allowing her to have some freedom with your hair. Katie saved the day, literally. I had dyed my own hair w/ a box mix and it turned out horrible... all this only 11 days before my wedding! I came into Michael Isaiah right before they closed and yet Katie and Derek, out of kindness, stayed longer to help me out! Derek completely salvaged my hair color w/ his critique of the current situation and creativity w/ different hair coloring techniques/methods. Katie then cut and styled my hair just exactly how I had hoped. Michael Isaiah has a great atmosphere - it is clean, decorated nicely, and seems hip. The stylists are very professional and seem like they keep up with the latest trends in hair design. I have been a client of Derrick's for almost 10 years and I can't stress enough how fantastic he is. Everytime I leave the salon my confidence is on a higher level. There are many people in my life that don't even know I color my hair because he makes it look like it was natural. I never go in wanting a specific haircut, I just let him do what he wants and it always looks perfect. He has an eye for giving the perfect cut and color to so many different face shapes and sizes. I recommend him to everyone I know and proudly carry his cards with me to hand out. But the best thing about him is that he actually cares about what is going on in my life and takes the time to listen and talk about these things as he does my hair.
