Houston Treature 8/15/2010

The Menils left such a wonderful legacy to the people of Houston. Their namesake museum is spacious, interesting, and free. It is surrounded by the chapels, lots of greenery & trees. I wish there was a beautiful small cafe serving drinks, coffee, light snacks on/near the grounds in walking distance. I would like to see more music, such as chamber orchestras performing on the lawn or in the foyer, maybe a little more showcasing of local artists in one of the many small houses/offices surrounding the museum. more

Incredible works by Maggrite 1/27/2004

It's amazing how many people I know who have lived in Houston for several years and have never visited this great museum. There are some great works by surrealist painter Renee Maggrite, among pieces by Warhol (yes, even have the Campbell's Soup can), and Leger. Great place to visit on a sunny Houston weekend. And don't forget to bring food to take a picnic on the park across the museum. Makes for a memorable date! more
