Best

I have been going to the Matoi for over a decade and I have to say that in my opinion it is the best sushi restuarant around! I have tried many other places when traveling or with...

Worst

Servers are very pushy, and prices are high! Plum wines taste old .... (1) Sushi menu: Same as other Korean...

Very disappointed! 4/1/2005

I would not recommend this place for sushi. The service was slow and unfriendly... I felt like I was being ignored. The sushi was below average. I will not return. more

BEST SUSHI EVER!!!! 2/27/2003

My husband and I eat at Matoi every Friday. We have eaten at Matoi at least once a week for the past two years and have never gotten a bad meal. The sushi cannot be beat. I highly recommend the Volcano roll. It is a must try! I have eaten at every other sushi bar in town and none of them even come close to the quailty of Matoi's. The sushi chefs and staff know us on a first name basis and that is very special to us. I recommend this restaurant to ever sushi lover out there. more

The best sushi in town 11/27/2002

I have been going to this restaurant since I was little and it's the best place to go for good sushi and a friendly enviroment.... The chefs know you by name and are always friendly the service is fast and reliable and the food now that is what I call a slice of heaven. Pros: inexpensive, friendly, good people more

I go back and forth on this place. I've been there many times over a 4 years. I like Yoko's and Ichiban better. If you're near RayJay and want it quick and simple - try it. Good points: Korean food (Kim Chi etc) on the menu. The inside is beautiful. Aquariums. Cute menus and take-homes that you can purchase (coffee mugs, pint glasses etc) Bad points: The rolls seem skimpy and the overcompensate just by using more rice. The wait staff never lets you know what you have or what's coming. The Spicy Yellowtail we just had was HORRIBLE. The worst I've ever had - it was super fishy. The rolls also usually seem poorly put together and fall apart as you pick them up. But I've also had a few great meals there. Very hit and miss. I haven't had a great meal there in a long time. more

My sushi secret is out! 5/26/2002

I've been driving almost an hour to Matoi Sushi since it was SOJ & now my secret is out... I love this place! You have to check out the Special's Board, including the Bucs Roll (the sauces on top are so good, you don't dare dip it in soy sauce) & my personal favorite,OECE (bbq'd eel w/ cream cheese served tempura. The cream cheese just melts in your mouth. It's almost like dessert,it's so rich!) The chef's are very personable. They'll make sushi not on the menu or currently not on special. The servers work together to ensure you're taken care of. I paid $20 for a discount card & was given my own pair of chopstix with a case that has my name plate on it! The card even gets me 10% off the bill. Oh, and don't be surprised if you see some Buc's players in there. Pros: excellent service, beautiful ambience, discount card Cons: small parking, small sushi bar more
