Good value but HORRID service 3/11/2012

I LOVE the one in Studio City but this one really pissed me off tonight. We had a party of 6, and instead of putting together available tables, they kept seating other ppl who had arrived after us until an area cleared. Then, we had to ask for water no less than 4 times, spoons no less than 3, were delivered the wrong sushi, the wrong soda, etc. Lastly, when a table spoon of rice was left on a plate (as the sushi had fallen apart), the waiter made me eat it before allowing me to reorder. And having eaten at the Studio City location for the past 8 years and NEVER being treated like that, I found the experience quite annoying. Oh...and the waiter was a jerk as he knew he was charging an 18% gratuity regardless as we were a party of 6. My advice, skip this one and go to the other. Good fish, and MUCH better service. MUCH. more

Fresh Fish 10/5/2010

If you're a Sushi fan I highly recommend checking out Midori Sushi in Sherman Oaks, CA. All of their fish is incredibly fresh and the staff works quickly so you never have to wait too long. They also have an all you can eat option that includes just about everything on the menu. Start with the Sunset roll, finish with the eel, and bring a friend. more

NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY 1/3/2010

This place does not care about customer satisfaction. I ordered the ALL YOU CAN EAT. During the course of my meal I ordered sushi and asked for a ""Shiso Leaf"" to be added to ONE of my orders for flavor. It's like a condiment, like asking for sesame seeds. When my bill came they had added $1.00 extra for the leaf. I asked to speak to the owner and asked why this was extra. He told me ""That anything not on the menu was extra."" When I tried to plead my case, he walked away. I understand that it was only $1.00 extra, but why charge for it? It was a little green leaf, less than one square inch. Charging me for it felt like something very small-minded on their part. I believe the expression is called ""nickel and diming you"" I'm finished with them! I hate it when little extras are added onto bills! I'd rather spend a little more and have the owner care about me as a customer and treat me right. Jerz Pros: Cheap Cons: Always crowded, long wait, strict rules, unpleasant servers more

All You Can Eat Sushi!!! 6/23/2009

One of my Japanese friends actually recommend this place to me. This place is sooo awesome. Definitely worth the waiting. Their green mussels, seared tuna, salmon and uni are the best. Tuna and yellowtail are awesome too. However, never try their calamari tempura... (it's all you can eat so you must finish everything) It's $33 per person after tax and tips. Pros: Fresh sushi Cons: Long waiting during weekends more

Rude Servers 3/10/2008

The worst service i have ever had, the servers are extemely RUDE! The quality and taste of the food is not worth the cost. Not ideal for large groups, it has minimal space. An all around horrible dining experience. more

average sushi, strict rules, shabby service 12/29/2007

So I'd heard about this place from time to time, seen the billboards and always wondered about it. I thought, all you can eat sushi where they bring it to your table? Not too bad...especially that it's not buffet style where it's been sitting there all day. I joined my two friends who'd already ordered 3 rolls. The first thing I noticed was that there was an EXTREME overabundance of rice per roll. The service seemed pretty slow so when the waiter came by, I ordered everything at once to make it simple. I ordered two 6 orders of sushi, two fresh fish rolls, and a miso soup. I usually eat sashimi, so with sushi I leave the rice behind. I then read the rules of which everybody should read BEFORE they go for the all-you-can-eat. basically, it's 21.95 (really good price), but you must eat everything on your plate before ordering more (understandably) but then they charge you fro what you don't eat. okay, that's not too big a deal but they charge you for rice too!!!! so after my rolls came i was a bit bummed b/c i knew i was going to get full...there was NO way i could eat all the rice they put on there. the service was pretty below average. not friendly, not really helpful at all. anyhow...to my surprise they didn't charge for my un-eaten rice, so i left happier than i thought i would. overall, i think i'd rather pay normal price and not feel committed to eating every morsel on my plate. i know there's tons of sushi joints on ventura that have better service and fresher fish. friendlier employees as well. Pros: big portions, average sushi, good price if you eat everything Cons: worrying if you're going to pay for your uneaten rice, poor service, too many rules more
