Driving by this place, the average person wouldn't think twice to stop and bask in what hits me with both nostalgia and excitement.
I grew up on Hispanic culture and food. I was lucky enough to have even been as far as Central America for a winter vacation. Both experiences have taught me to explore and appreciate diversity in both culture and cuisine. Stepping into this joint was like experiencing both again for the first time. Though short on time and cash, I was able to partake in two menu items, the Chicken taco(beef also available) and Ceviche(has a longer name though). The taco was quite fresh and the chicken was juicy and not the least bit unsavory, topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese for good measure. For me, the Ceviche is what really made my day. Ceviche comes in many ways, but the way I like it best is how Los Picos prepared it. Basically like a Pico de Gallo but with chilled shrimp in it and a bit of avocado. I'm sure they put a tiny bit of jalapeno in it, since it had a nice tangy kick to it. I've had habenero in ceviche before, so this was pretty tame comparatively. All in all, I can't wait to go back to try more and have the items I had again. I also read on Yelp they serve fresh margaritas, no sweet and sour included. Incentive enough for me!
