Hands down the most delicious pizza downtown -well worth braving the crowds. Go early to get a table in a reasonable amount of time otherwise the wait can be atrocious. Pros: ...

Look I am young.. I love megadeth too but dear god I dont want to hear it full blast at a restaurant. TURN DOWN THE MUSIC IN THE DINING area. The same folks that own this place, o...

Charming Encounter in the East Village 7/25/2006

The truffle pizza, Monte Pulciano wine, brilliant service and freaking hot stud/manboy waiter named Dallas all conspired to create a flawless evening! Wish I was downtown more often! Run don't walk! Charming environment, crowd and neighborhhood as well! more

so crowded on a friday night 7/21/2006

The best tiramisu cake. The pizzas are quite inventive. The bar was noisy but a good place to meet people. I'd go back just for the tiramisu more

would come here all the time if I could 4/17/2006

Mostly come for late lunch, and I'm sure service etc can be quite annoying in the evening, however, there aren't that many good lunch spots in NY, and if you want to truly feel as though a long lunch could be part of your life, this is where to go. Plan to go with someone who's company you actually enjoy, make sure you have some hours or so to spare, order any salad, share the pizzas, get some good wine -and although pasta here is the way it's suppsed to be - al dente, sparse on the sauce etc, depending on the season I prefer to have that later in the evening (especially the spinach gnocchi w/gorgonzola...). As you enter skip the first room and go left (to the front), and you're ready for some quality time! more

What happened here? I used to love this place and wow...its no good anymore. Pros: attractive wait staff Cons: terrible service more

Not Happy 11/17/2005

I cam with a party of eight. They made us wait until everyone was there even though six of us were, which makes no sense. We had a reservation so the table was not going to be used by anyone. The entry way was very crowded so we just stood there until we finally prodded the hostess to let us sit down. We were seated at a table for six so we had no room and I sat in front of the kitchen window with waiters and bus boys knocking into me the whole time. The waiter was ok but too busy. The food was good but the service was hard to overlook. more

Cos'e` successo? 11/15/2005

I have enjoyed many meals at Lil' Frankie's, but recently the food has become a joke. The other night I ordered papardelle allo scoglio and wanted to laugh when it was set in front of me. The sauce was like tomato juice with a few pieces of basil thrown in for color. 10 rock shrimp does not a scoglio make. For $17, you think they could manage to throw in a clam or mussel or two to actually make scoglio what it really should be. I would have sent it back if the server had actually come around before we were finished eating. My friends' meals didn't fare much better. Empty water glasses. Empty wine glasses. Hilariously bad bar service. Watching the server chat with someone for 10 minutes before putting in your order. Waiting 15 minutes for a check. This is just too bad, too bad. Pros: location, quick seating Cons: flavorless food, service more

Delicious! 8/26/2005

I took my wife here after we got back from our honeymoon in Italy and feared that it just wouldn't live up to the delicious food we'd been eating for the last three weeks - but how wrong I was! This place is wonderful: the pizza delicious, as was the chicken my wife had, and they have a great wine list. Our server knew exactly what he was talking about, had a great sense of humor and very attentive to our needs. And the candle light definitely adds to the ambience. Pros: pizza, service, neighborhood more

Very good eats, reasonable price 5/8/2005

A group of about 16 of us strolled in here last minute around 7pm saturday night. They were friendly, just asked for us to wait about 15 minutes, no problem. The staff were very friendly, the prices were relatively average, not bad, and the food was great. I had the ""skirt steak"" special and it was great. Eating off of other's plates, I tasted the pasta, potatoes, and of course the pizza (very authentic thin crust Italy style). The bill after all that (granted no one really had any alcohol, just soda/water and I had one glass of wine) was $250... around $27 a person... not too bad for good food and service in the city! Oh, and the music was NOT Frank Sinatra or classical, totally rockin' vibe, way cool to me. Pros: Great Food, Reasonable Prices, Friendly Staff more

I can't stop wanting to eat here. 3/24/2005

This place is fantastic. The food is AMAZING - the butternut squash ravioli blew my mind - the staff is knowledgeable, the atmosphere is great and so is the wine. Next time you're craving Italian, high-tail it here or Supper. If you love good food and good wine, and don't want to spend a million dollars, I guarantee you'll love this place. more

Great pizza; good price 2/12/2005

I had the pizza which was fantastic! I also started off with a buffalo mozzarella which was equally excellent. The place was a bit busy when I got there so we ate at the bar. This was great. We were in the corner and it is a very clean bar. I would sit and eat at the bar again if there was a wait. Pros: Pizza, Appetizers Cons: slow service more

great food horrible service 10/27/2004

The title says it all. The food is great, so great I keep comming back. Despite the fact that a waiter spilled oil on my friends suede shoes & the service is consistently bad. The music is too loud as well, the decore is depressing. But, the food and price are worth it. Pros: food, value Cons: , decor, music more

The Real Deal 9/24/2003

One of the few good places to get a pie in NYC. This place does it right. Occasionally overcrowded with neo-LES types you can put up with it for the excellent pie. more

that's the way! 7/5/2003

i'm italian and i had a great pizza in lil frankie, whoever thinks this pizza is bad means they do not know what good authentic italian pizza is!. try the focaccine with prosciutto and robiola...this will wake you up! more

lil to look forward to... 2/10/2003

Although on the phone they take reservations for groups over 6, they squeezed my group of 7 at a table for 4 & told us that we had to be out in an hour because they needed the table for another group. The bruschetta was toast with a tomato cut in half and placed on parmesan shavings. Best of all the waiter actually picked up a piece of pizza with his hands and moved it to another pie when clearing one of the pans away half way through the meal. Absolutely the worst service I've had in New York. Pros: inexpensive, decent pizza, random people Cons: bad service, bad food, bad area more

Everyone's a fan! 2/3/2003

I have nothing but great things to say about Lil' Frankies. Everytime I bring people here, everyone raves about it. Not only are the pizza delicious and quintessentially Italian (with thin crusts and fresh ingredients), but the ambiance is warm and friendly and busy and fun, and the dessert with Nutella is AMAZING! the waitstaff is sweet and never rushes you, and you really feel like you're in Italy. even the baby on the menu is adorable! i guarantee you'll love the place. here's to lil' frankies! It's the Real Deal 1/31/2003

This place makes pizza just like they do in Italy. As an Italian, recently transplanted here in the Big Apple, I have found it difficult to find good, authentic pizza - perhaps not as good as they make it in Napoli but the crust is good and the toppings are, thus far, authentic. My wife asked the ""pizzaiolo"" to make a special pizza with tomato sauce, no mozzarella, fresh arugola and parmesan shavings and it was fantastic. Pros: authenticity, value more

great neighborhood pizza place 1/24/2003

Lil Frankies ROCKS. Excellent brick oven pizzas and good prices. The Thursday lasagna special is about the best and tastiest lasagna I've had in New York more

charming authentic tratoria 11/25/2002

having spent the last 3 months living in Firenze (Florence!), I was shocked by Frankie's wonderful pizzas and friendly staff. I was truly transported to my favorite Santa Croce restaurant, Baldovino! The front of the eatery features a homey feel with a takeout counter, great for families and a casual night. Meanwhile, the narrow back room is dimmly lit, with hanging plants overhead and a wall-covering wine rack. Lil' Frankie's is a delightful suprise offering all the comforts of a neighborhood eatery with a romantic, more sophisticated dining area as well. Super fresh, thin crust pizza, authentic cafe, and classic contorni! Mangia! more
