Still Terrible...After all our reviews! 4/20/2010

I'd just assume that management would use the internet and actually look at what people think about their own business, I guess I am wrong! I'd rather drive to Boston Bowl and have better customer service and would actually pay double just to get a smile from someone who works at an establishment, then a growl for just being there. Pros: Location Cons: Everything else! more

50+ yrs.of bowling in Boston area 12/17/2008

This place is large and has everything, ten pin, candle pin, pro shop, pool tables, arcade, great bar, excellent food, plenty of parking, and very good access. I have always found it to be clean, safe, and well maintained. The staff is friendly, hard working, knowledgeable and responsible.\r I find It amusing that anyone would write a review stating ''the management is horrible'' because THEY couldn't get any lanes between 6-11 P.M.?????---??????.\r No business tries to disappoint customers. No manager is horrible because their establishment is to busy. more

Just your typical bowling alley 11/8/2008

Lanes and Games is your typical bowling alley - no fancy bells and whistles here. They offer candlepin lanes as well as regular big ball bowling so you have your choice of games. I've been there several times and have never had to wait for a lane. Good place if you live in the area and feel like playing a few frames. more

Old School Flare 1/27/2008

Lanes and Games has been one of my favorite bowling alleys for years. There's nothing particularly special about it, but it's just a fun, relaxed place. There is a bar there too so that adds a little fun. Just be ready to wait for a lane, and be aware of the league schedules. more

Rude and Nasty 2/21/2007

I've been to Lanes & Games a handful of times, but it'll be a long time before I go back. Each time I go, I have a worse customer service experience than the time before. I never expected great service, but I wish they would at least pretend that they want my business. During my last visit, the guys at the desk could scarcely be bothered to put my name on the waiting list for a lane. They seemed frustrated with me for being there. The wait was about 40 minutes, during which time I thought I'd have a drink at the bar, which I eventually got, but only after managing to get myself growled at by the bartender for absolutely no reason other than that I was there, asking for a drink. It seems they were busy and could care less if I got what I wanted. At one point, while I was waiting, I made the mistake of wandering too close to the front desk. I know it was a mistake because I was quickly scolded and instructed to move back into the bar area so as not to crowd the desk. Then, someone at the desk recognized a guy who was waiting for a lane and said "hey, you should of told me you were here, I would've moved you up on the list" and then promptly assigned the guy a lane despite the fact that I had been waiting longer. It was 20 minutes more before I got a lane. I can't really think of many places I've been to that go this far out of their way to express their resentment toward their customers. I guess they can get away with it because they can afford to be that way, and they really don't care. Must be nice for them. Pros: Lots of lanes, Parking Cons: Service, Wait, Crowded, Rude more

Bowling is fun if you can get a lane 12/19/2006

Management is horrible. I had contacted them many times to confirm their league schedule so I could have a small gathering. Unfortunately, I was lied to many times and when we showed up, we were told a very different story and that every night is league night and there is openings only very late or before 6pm. \r \r I and my friends will never come back. If you decide to try it, please be careful with the information you get. \r And I would add that anytime between 6-10/11 would be impossible as they have leagues, but somehow, forgot to mention this when I called. more

RUDE! 8/1/2006

I can't believe the management! Pros: Has a few lanes of normal ten pin bowling Cons: Management, lanes in horrible condition, wait times more

Large Bowling Alley 11/27/2005

This is a large bowling alley offering both candlepin bowling and ten pin bowling. It is, unfortunately, rather busy on weekends, and sometimes you may have to wait half an hour for a lane, especially on weekends, but the lanes are well-maintained and there are many lanes in the two-story facility. The building also contains pool tables and arcade games which can pass the time while you wait for a lane if you go on a busy evening. The alley is easily accessible by car but with a little walking can be accessed from the Red Line Alewife Station. PROS: Many lanes, Both candlepin and ten pin CONS: Sometimes must wait for a lane more

great bowling alley for lots of fun 11/16/2005

I love that this is on route 2 and very easy to get to. they have great hours, which is very convenient, i think they are open till midnight some nights. they have 2 floors. The first floor features candlepin bowling, vending machines. This is mostly where smaller kids are. There is an arcade as well. On the top floor there is a bar and small restaurant as well as ten pin bowling and pool tables. They are somewhat expensive but it's worth it. One problem that I have with them is that people smoke so much and that can be annoying. more

Great place 11/6/2005

Two floors with small ball downstairs and big ball upstairs and game room. Nice big place for large group, convenient place just on route 2 close to Alewifte T. Very comfortable relaxing environment on off-peak hours. more

2 Floors of fun 9/21/2005

This location has 2 floors of bowling. The lower floor is all candlepin, while the upper floor is part candlepin but mostly 10-pin (which is always crowded on a Saturday night) Great league activity as well as a social location to go with friends. Could use a little updating, but could hold on for a few more years before they really need it. more

Lanes & Games 9/3/2005

Lanes & games ten pin bowling & candle pin bowling alley is located on RT 2 in Cambridge. They have 2 levels of bowling alleys.Candlepin alleys on the first floor with plenty of lockers, restrooms and small indoor arcade. On the second level there is keno, pool tables & pro shop alog with 40 ten pin bowling lanes. Several teams bowl there each week. A great place to have some fun. Huge parking lot. more

Lanes & Games 7/29/2005

A nice place to spend time with the family. Great place to bowl for adults and kids too. It is a more relaxed atmosphere compared to many bowling alleys. The alleys themselves are funky and hip looking. The interior has a 1970's look to it. Drinks are served in plastic cups, including beer. There is a sports shop and neat locker rooms. more

The only place I bowl in Boston! 7/8/2005

Conveniently located on route 2 in Cambridge, just steps from the Alewife T stop, Lanes & Games features the best bowling experience in the Boston area. Both candlepin and "real" (a/k/a tenpin) bowling are available, so transplants and New England lifers alike can have a good time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and there's a small pro shop on the second floor for all you Dick Weber wannabes. The atmosphere leans towards classic bowling alley, with old school vending machines, carpeted walls and a color scheme that evokes fond memories of the 1970s. The only knock is that the tenpin wait can be long during peak hours. But no worries; put your name on the list and kill time in the lounge try the steak tips or at the arcade, which features air hockey, old school bubble hockey and several pinball machines. They also do well handling special events - my company has done a couple of bowling parties there and they're very accommodating. PROS: Fun times, good ambience, arc more

Lanes and Games 3/23/2005

Nice place to bowl, great for kids. The lanes now have automatic score machines. There are 20 ten-pin lanes upstairs for older folks. Also upstairs you'll find a restaurant/lounge that's good for a quick bite. If you go during the day, you'll find there's no "lounge action". There is an arcade area with air hockey table, several pinball machines, and other arcade type games. Overall, its a good place to have fun. more

Greatest Bowling in Boston area 3/1/2004

With the demise of the Wal-Lex, Lanes & Games is the best bowling alley around. Unlike the pretentious downtown bowling alleys, Lanes & Games is bowling old school style. Sure you may have to wait to get a ball that will fit you right but you can just kill Mich Ultras and practice palming the ball. more

Best of Everything 1/11/2004

This is the best bowling alley in the Boston area by far. Retro furnishings, great video games including a lot of old favorites, great food and lots of 10 pins lanes (which are hard to find in New England). The wait can be long if you come on the weekend or a busy night but that is at every bowling alley, its worth the wait, very reasonable rates. The food is surprisingly good too, I recommend the steak tips or pulled pork, even the club sandwich is a great value. This place blows the local trendy, martini bowling alley wannabees out of the water! Pros: great lanes, great prices, easy parking Cons: busy times, need a car to access more

Gutterball 5/28/2002

Unless you enjoy waiting a long time in a dingy, old alley with mediocre equipment and rude service, steer clear of this joint. Sorry excuse for an alley. more
