Review content:
Conveniently located on route 2 in Cambridge, just steps from the Alewife T stop, Lanes & Games features the best bowling experience in the Boston area.
Both candlepin and "real" (a/k/a tenpin) bowling are available, so transplants and New England lifers alike can have a good time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and there's a small pro shop on the second floor for all you Dick Weber wannabes. The atmosphere leans towards classic bowling alley, with old school vending machines, carpeted walls and a color scheme that evokes fond memories of the 1970s.
The only knock is that the tenpin wait can be long during peak hours. But no worries; put your name on the list and kill time in the lounge try the steak tips or at the arcade, which features air hockey, old school bubble hockey and several pinball machines.
They also do well handling special events - my company has done a couple of bowling parties there and they're very accommodating.
PROS: Fun times, good ambience, arc
