Top spa 3/7/2010

I love to find a great spa and when I do I expect to pay a premium for it. This was no different in terms of pricing but they were the best I've ever been to. The staff are professional and peaceful (speak quietly - move slowly) and the food was wonderful. The locker room was beautiful and this was the cleanest spa I have been. more

So relaxing! 1/4/2010

I had the greatest day at Lake Austin spa! Everything about it was relaxing. The location of the spa is just enough removed from the city that you feel like you are really getting away from everything. When I checked in, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I loved that the atmosphere and the people were all very relaxed and down to earth...not pretentious like some places. The Blue Room was so pretty! What a nice place to wait! I had the Custom Comfort massage with Kimberly. She was amazing. That was the best massage I've ever had. And, she's truly a massage "therapist". I have poor circulation in my legs and feet which causes them to ache. She noticed it without my saying so and she made them feel so much better! And she recommended a couple physical therapy sort of things to help. I also had the Personal Best facial. My esthetician was Mitzi. She was really friendly and did a great job, as well. Choosing the music for the facial was a nice touch, too. The cafe was peaceful and lunch was delicious. Lake Austin Spa is in a really serene location, full of friendly and talented people. What a relaxing day! I can't wait to go back! Pros: Best massage! more

The Worst Experience at a Spa I've Ever Had 1/3/2010

My husband and I were recently at the spa. I can tell you with certainty we won't be back. Our visit to the spa was most disappointing. I have been to the Camelback, the Couer d'Alene, Amelia Island Plantation, and The Woodmark to name a few. In all my visits to spas across the USA I have never had the displeasure of being spoken to in a derogatory tone while being hurried out of my private suite. Apparently some folks were going to be in the suite soon after us (though we weren't made aware of this until after the fact) so even though our suite came with a shower (which we thought we'd use to rid ourselves of all the massage oil, prior to putting our robes back on) and we were told to relax and take our time, they obviously didn't mean it. In fact, we had the cleaning lady pushing her way into the room as we were getting dressed. Then my masseuse had the audacity to remind me that there were showers in the locker room and that we should've used those instead. Unbelievable. How Lake Austin Spa has earned its reputation is beyond me. My husband and I were looking for peace and relaxation; instead we received unkindness and disrespect. Obviously I made a mistake in selecting Lake Austin Spa. On a much smaller note, I find it quite odd that the locker rooms are so far from the treatment rooms (you have to walk near the front desk to get to the stairs to get up to the massage area), that the showers are small and few in the locker rooms, and that the plumbing (toilets flushing) can be heard quite well while having a massage. This spa is certainly no place for relaxation. The one positive experience at the spa was actually the work of the salon. Kudos to my hairstylist. Pros: Salon Cons: The Spa (Service and Atmosphere) more

Beautiful Destination Spa 5/29/2009

I went to Lake Austin Spa Resort for a girlfriend's pre-wedding bachelorette party. We were looking for a place to relax and unwind before the big day and Lake Austin Spa was the perfect spot. The facility and grounds are beautiful and the pool is a great place to lounge. We all got different treatments and then relaxed by the pool and sunbathes. My massage was awesome and we even had lunch in their sunroom out by the pool which was delicious and healthy. It was a perfect day! I can't wait to go back! Pros: Pool, Facility, Atmosphere more

Not going back! Horrible experience! 2/12/2009

After seeing this spa at several magazines I expected at least a decent massage. I had a really bad experience and I am not going back. First off, I requested a female masseur but a guy showed up. I decided to give it a try since I've never had a male masseur before and it turned out to be a disaster. He never got the right amount of pressure and whenever I ask him to put less/more pressure, I was either in pain or not feeling any of my muscles "massaged". It was the worst massage I've ever had. My boyfriend didn't like his massage at all either. I am sticking to my regular spa even though I have to drive so much more. Pros: The cafe Cons: BAD MASSAGE more

Good swedish massage, average pedicure 9/17/2008

I was expecting a little more from one of the top rated spas in the United States, but everything seemed about average with this visit to the spa. The changing facilities were nice, the robes & flip flops were nice. The blue waiting room seemed nice enough, very quiet. The massage was good & she asked if there were any special areas to be worked on. They had some complementary crackers & beverages in the kitchen when I got there but the crackers were gone by the time I finished my first treatment. I was dissapointed the Cafe closed so early as I was hungry after my massage & had time to waste before pedicure. The pedicure seemed average & no better then a walk in place. The pool was pretty but the weather was not great & it didn't seem worth the extra $25 I had to pay for the facilites usage. Pros: parking Cons: value did not seem in-line with price more

beautiful, luxurious, love it 6/23/2007

Take advantage of the accommodations such as the sauna, whirlpool, steam room, indoor lap pool, and outdoor swimming pool. All of these are yours to use for the entire day when you go to the Spa. The setting is gorgeous, the people are wonderful, there are pathways and trails down to the lake with flower gardens all around. It is obvious that this place spends a lot of time on the little details. This is a perfect place to go with a best friend or a lover on your day off. You can lay on the outside patio while getting a pumpkin wrap (or many of the other treatments) with your significant other (like I did ;) ). I HIGHLY recommend Lake Austin Spa Resort. Pros: wonderful service, caring staff, wonderful atmosphere Cons: a little bit of a drive down the lake more

JUST OK 5/23/2007

THE SERVICES WERE OK BUT OVERLY PRICED. THE SETTING WAS PRETTY BUT NOT REALLY WORTH DRIVING SOOO FAR OUT OF THE WAY. FOR A SPA BEING RATED TOP TEN IN THE NATION, IT WAS OK, BUT I HAVE HAD MUCH BETTER IN AUSTIN. SEEMED A LITTLE SNOOTY Cons: JUST WAY TOO FAR OUT OF THE WAY more

Way over priced! 5/7/2007

Facilities are beautiful....the spa, pool and lake area are very nice. However, the pricing for the massages, facials and food are too much for what you get. Food is way below average...nothing special. The massage and facial are no better than what you get at a smaller more afforable spa. more

Best Spa in Austin 2/14/2007

It is worth saving your money for a spa experience at Lake Austin Spa. I have been frequenting this spa since 2002. It was great then, but in the past year they have made amazing renovations that made Lake Austin Spa a 5 star experience. If you make an appointment during the week you don't have to pay for the extra locker room fee. Although, if you have the money, the locker room serivce is worth more than $25 per day. Pros: First Class treatment, View of Lake Austin, Massage Therapy Services Cons: Expensive, but you get out of it what you pay more

Good spa-Be prepared to spend $1000 plus 2/1/2007

Good services, caring staff. Hint-if you come as a couple plan to spen dupwards of a $1000 for the day. Pros: Good variety of services Cons: $1000 for two for day services more

Now, THIS is a spa! 5/13/2006

What an experience! This place is top-notch from the facilities to the staff, to the yummy spa cuisine. The environment is so relaxing! I've visited many other "spas" in Austin, and most of them have a lot to learn from this place. Great experience! more

overwhelmingly peaceful 4/4/2006

I was lucky enough to be sent to Lake Austin Spa for half a day for my birthday. While I was there, I received a massage and facial. Both were wonderful - relaxing in every way. All the staff here is friendly and professional. I also had lunch in the cafe, and for spa food, it was very filling and scrumptious. the sauna and locker room were both spacious and immaculate. The grounds and pool area were beautiful as well. I will definitely be back. I wish I could move in. PROS: peaceful, professional staff CONS: pricey (but worth it) more

Lake Austin is wonderful 3/25/2006

This is by far the best day spa I have ever been to. Their service is absolutely excellent. They have a wide variety of services to choose from, either in a package or a la carte. The only downside is that they are somewhat expensive. However, they are worth every penny spent here. I try to come out to them as often as possible. more

Heaven on Earth 1/5/2006

It is an experience I will never forget! It is more expensive than other dayspas however you get what you pay for. Attentive staff, great food but most of all the treatments. They are world class and so unique. You will not find anything like this around! No question about what I want for Christmas... Pros: Comfortable, Beautiful, Serene more

My sister and I came here in April 11/27/2005

My sister and I were pleased with the results of our facial treatments (facial for me and microdermabrasion for sis). We both received coffee body treatments, which were amazing. The scrub leaves your skin super-smooth and polished looking. The massage leaves you feeling utterly and completely relaxed. They do something incredible with your hair that just makes you tingle all over. We both got comments on how our skin looked radiant for the next week. We finished our day with pedicures. My toes looked great for three weeks! My sister's pedicure didnt turn out so well. The girl she got kept cutting too deep with the cuticle cutters and the polish chipped off the next day. I would recommend the spa in a heartbeat. As for the nail services, I'd say skip it, since it's hit or miss. For what you pay, it better be a hit every time. Pros: Beautiful property, lots of amenities, nice views Cons: Expensive, far more

spa 11/24/2005

The only problem with the Lake Austin Spa, is that there is TOO much to chose from! You could spend a month there and not get bored! I've figured out what I want for every birthday from now on! more

loved the spa, not the salon 4/24/2005

The grounds and facility are gorgeous, and the aromatherapy massage on the treatment porch was great. Pros: beautiful facility, very peaceful, great massage Cons: overpriced more

To Far aware from town 3/6/2005

Prices are high and it is just to far from my work or home. Massage was okay but I will probably go back to my regular in town therapist. Pros: Nice Views Cons: High Prices, To Far Out more
