Best

Some of these folks writing the scathing reviews must have been in a crappy mood when they went to Java Jive....... I have been going regularly for the past few years and besid...

Worst

Last time I was there the food was not so good. Disappointing.

Best waffles in Atlanta so far 3/8/2007

Having eaten waffles at Radial, Thumbs Up, and Ron & Gladys' , I can confidently say that Java Jive's are the best of the bunch for the simple reason that they have the most crisp exterior.\r \r The biscuits are similar to those served at Flying Biscuit or Grandma Luke's, that is, kind of scone-y. more

Oy Vey! This Place Jumps! 7/29/2006

From the moment you enter this little hip, high kitch, hole-in-the wall place, a smile will come across your face. Is it ""Leave It To The Beav""or ""Ozzie and Harriet""? Retro appliances are everywhere, and the aroma of their house blend coffee, tells you are someplace special. From the Challah Bread French Toast, to The Gingerbread Waffles with Lemon Curd, to the Greek omelet, it rocks. Service is casual-back. Way Back! So don't be in a hurry. Oh did I mention the wonderful home-made biscuits. It is owned and managed by the cutest little young Jewish couple you could ever meet. Oy Vey! Pros: Retro, Hip Spot With Inovative Breakfast Items! Cons: Casual Service, Have Another Cup Of Coffee more

Best biscuits in town 6/24/2006

Java Jive is a great little neighborhood joint. The omelets and pancakes are solid, if unspectacular. The real highlights are the biscuitss and the gingerbread waffle served with lemon curd. The biscuits are the best I've found in the city - soft and buttery and meltingly delicious. The coffee is good, as well as the service. The atmosphere is cool and funky.\r \r The two complaints I have against the joint are: 1) 9 am is too late to open for breakfast, even on the weekend. 2) It's a bit on the pricey side for what you get.\r \r Overall, a consistently solid place, so if you wake up late on the weekend and need a nosh, give it a shot. And order two biscuits... Pros: The best biscuits around Cons: pricey, bad weekend hours more

Rude, overpriced and did I mention rude? 4/30/2005

They open at 9 am. As we stood outside in a downpour, the wait staff made no effort to let us in -- AND IT WAS AFTER 9AM! I had given up on this restaurant and its lousy service once, but was giving them another chance -- last chance, you blew it Java Jive. If you want some overpriced Challah french toast served with an attitude, definitely check it out. Pros: cute decor Cons: slow service, bad attitudes, long waits more

Always Fabulous 11/23/2003

This is my favorite place for breakfast!! The pancakes are the best and the coffee is sooo good! I love the vintage decor and the staff is really friendly, what more can you ask for? Pros: always good, cool atmosphere Cons: small parking lot more

Too much $$, Not enough food 6/9/2003

Everything is way over priced for the portions and level of service. If I am going to wait, give me something to wait for. I live just around the corner and would rather walk an extra mile to go somewhere else Pros: location Cons: expensive, portions, snobby service more

YUM! 12/1/2002

The BEST breakfast/brunch place in town .. you can't beat their scrambled eggs with basil and cream cheese! more

Clean, Classic & don't forget the Coffee 11/4/2002

Java Jive does the retro thing without the dirty or depressing feeling I get at other breakfast spots. The atmosphere is bright and cheery. As for the food, the omeletes are light and fluffy. The coffee is delicious. However, the hash browns are uninspired, next time I'll try the grits. I wish it was a little cheaper for a casual brunch, but the prices are still pretty reasonable. more

Disappointing. 10/4/2002

June and Ward 8/16/2002

Talk a leave it to beaver. JJ is a great place to breaksast of brunch. Cute wait staff as well. Pros: great prices, well seasoned, good portions Cons: parking, parking, parking more

Yummy yummy!! 7/25/2002

This place is just awesome. The atmosphere, the food and more of the patrons are local. You've got to love the retro tables and chairs. The food has been good every time I've been there and we know how hard it is to find consistency around here. more

Jumpin' coffee 5/20/2002

The coffee pulls you in, but the food keeps you here. Java Jive manages to add a little gourmet twist to each of its scrumptious breakfast entrees. While I like most everything on the menu, the scramble keeps me coming back. Make sure to try one of the Jive's fluffy biscuits, a nice morning treat. The 50s decor--chrome accents just about every accent--makes for a fun place to wake up in the morning. more
