I had a plumbing emergency and had family in from out of town. I called my regular plumber and he refused to come out because of the time and was referred to JT O'Brien plumbing. Not only did they come out but they were there almost immediate and were so friendly. The plumbing work was exemplary and I would refer this company to everyone. The best part was that I was panic stricken when I called and the gentleman that answered the phone was so kind, more than accommodating and most importantly so fair in price especially for the time of day it was but I later found out I had spoke to the owner himself......such a professional! It starts from the top it's no wonder the service was terrific all around! more

I woke up one morning and there was water in my basement all over the place. I called the office and spoke to someone named AJ he was very professional I explained to him what was going on and he had me describe to him the location of where the water was he quickly figured out it was my hot water heater that was leaking and explained to me over the phone how to shut the water off going into the tank and told me he would have a tech come out within 1 hour. Not even an hour and someone came out and replaced my water heater and corrected my venting. I was very pleased with the way the call was handeled and also filed for the permit. Aj called me back to make sure everything was ok I'm so blessed to have spoken to him very friendly and professional. more

They have horrible business practices more

So we wake up to find our hot water heater hemorrhaging water. We came across these testimonials and had reservations as negative comments of course make you think…but how often do happy people take the time to post positive feedback? We knew our PSEG worry free contract utilized JT O’Brien and made the call. It’s 7:15AM when we call and place the order. At 7:30 AM, JT O’Brien confirms the appointment for between 9 – 11AM. They amazingly show up at 9:30. Omar was so professional, talented, and cleaned up very well upon completion of his work. They took away the old tank, connected the vent line, and got the permit for us. They offered a great warranty for parts and labor on the tank as well. And I made it to work by noon. As for cost, I agree, it was on the higher side but when disasters strike, do you have time to price shop? We’re happy and will use them again for sure! more

I am the general manager of a luxury high rise residential building in north eastern NJ. JT Obrien and his staff have always been courteous, skilled and efficient. I found JT Obrien's pricing to be competitive. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality service at a fair price. more

Do NOT hire this company. They will rip you off. While the plumber who serviced our issue seemed competent, the cost to replace the kitchen sink faucet was astronomical ($600.) You do NOT want to use this company; get an estimate from a reputable organization. more

I am unable to give NEGATIVE stars! JT O'Brien is only concerned with $ installed a gas line for a pool heater. His employeee was disgruntled and not very well informed. Left a gas leak. PSEG came out 3 times. They placed a smaller tube inside of the leaking tube and wanted more $! Amazing how he managed to get a township inspector ASAP in HIS car to check the line (???) The 2 year of using the pool heater and it is leaking again. I would not hire him to do rake leaves. Nasty & Arrogant while unable to do a quality job. Doesn't stand behind his work and will over charge, show up weeks late and want more $$! more

I ordered a new water heater through PSE&G. JT O'Brien performed the installation. I had initially read some of the reviews on here and was concerned,so I called PSE&G, who told me that O'brien does more than 10 installations a day for PSE&G and has an excellent track record. Also, PSE&G stands behind the work. I found them to be courteous, prompt and helpful. I initially ordered a simple heater. When they pointed out that prior work was not done according to code and that I would have to have my chimney lined (costly), we discussed other options. (BTW, I confirmed what they had told me). I ended up getting the AO Smith Vertex 100, which does not vent through the chimney and has 96% thermal efficiency. I only needed a 50 gallon tank, rather than the 75 I had planned to get. I love the heater - and I expect lower gas bills. I will also be able to get a 30% Federal tax credit. So - I am totally satisfied. more

they are locked in to only installing A O Smith heaters. These heaters are not good and do not fit all applications. You should not use a Co.that only uses one brand. IT is not good. more

Respectful, on time, and efficient, the employee that came to my home (Anthony i think) made my experience with JT O'Brien a pain free, reasonably priced, and actually quite enjoyable experience. The owner came by himself to personally check on the job! He was so damn cute too! more

O'Brien plumbing was there when I needed them. Their men were professional and went above & beyond to make sure my plumbing needs were me. I would call anyone else. The owner even stopped by to make sure the work was to my satisfaction. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! more

My hot water heater was leaking and needed replacing. PSE&G assigned J.T. O'Brien Plumbing to do the job. The technician arrived within the 10am-to-1-pm time slot that I was given. Unfortunately I was given no choice by PSEG when they came out to replace a furnace. This company is subcontracted by PSEG! This very unprofessional company canceled my appointment 3 times with a cockamamie excuse on the third cancellation only to then show up 1 1/2 hours late. They left my new furnace, basement, downstairs bathroom sink, and yard covered in debris and not to mention a torn ripped work glove on the basement floor. The severe lack of professionalism amazed me so much that I placed a call to the office asap! When I did call the office several times - I was given fabricated stories by a male dispatcher - who also handled my calls in an inappropriate manner. My calls were NEVER returned by the owner or his office manager - nor was my request for either one to visit my home to view the way the employees left my home and brand new furnace! Lucky me I only got to speak with the male dispatcher who is so far out there and blatantly lies to cover for his employer's whereabouts - for his reason for not returning my calls! I would have to ask myself and asked PSEG Corporate Offices, how can I be sure the job they were hired for was done correctly when clearly this is such a non-professional company from the owner, his office manager, his workers to his male dispatcher! PSEG Corporate thought that was a good question, but didn't have a solution! My solution would be for PSEG to come out and inspect the work left by a company they subcontract out! Why should I think this company would be reliable and professional when clearly the owner is not! HAD TO GIVE ONE STAR OTHERWISE THIS WOULD NOT GO THRU THEY DESERVE NONE! more

HORRIBLE - Installed a defective heating system in my house that only lasted seven years - and NO warranty was given. Had to replace heating system at an additional $6K. Telephone manners need a lot to be desired. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! more

Not interested in anything but money. His workers hate their jobs and it shows. Left a dangerous gas situation and wanted to charge me for a leak his employee created blamed PSEG - PSEG taged the gasline with a leak and he wanted to charge me to test it for a leak! Never showed up on time. Horrible experience. I think he is arrogant and his company will fold in time. Very charming at first, don't be fooled! more
