I found them on a breastfeeding help line and went in to get a product, but what I ended up with was much better. A free breastfeeding group with a lactation specialist helped me ...

why does a baby store have to have maternity in the name? fathers shop too. Good range if high end accessories although pricy and better alternatives on line. Unfortunately if you are a man this place is the axis if estrogen with lots of well dressed older women (clomid prescriptions hanging out of their urban chic burberry trenches) debating medela stretch mark cream and smugly chortling over breast pumps. Not a place men are welcome (nor babies really) more

I took my childbirth class there (overpriced also but my ins co reimbursed that). They are really clever in giving you "breaks" in class where naturally you go over to their store to browse. I feel bad for anyone who hadn't priced cribs and baby merchandise elsewhere first and thinks those are the normal prices- I got the same crib at amazon for a fourth of what they were charging- even their bras and maternity things are overpriced! more

My wife loved the selection here. Very fun clothes and a large selection more

I really enjoy the Strollerobics class with Jenny Z. She is a personal trainer and boy do you get a good cardio and strength workout from this hour long class. The babies love it too. Its a great way to get outside with the baby and really work. This is not a frilly mommy class - serious fitness people will love this. more

Overall, we have loved Isis for all of its products (pricey, though!) and programs, especially prenatal classes and new moms groups. Nancy Holtzman is AMAZING. My only criticism is that the developmental classes for babies and toddlers REALLY vary based on the instructor. It pays to find out as much as you can about the class and instructor before signing up, because they're not cheap it's not easy to get much if any of your money back, and we have taken two classes with our little one that were a total disappointment/rip-off. more

Isis is one of the nicest maternity and baby stores. Although they have limited selections, their merchandise is well chosen and they have excellent customer service. more

I love Isis since their products are well-selected (think small, boutique as opposed to superstore with a million, busy choices) and they offer free gift and have such knowledgeable salesstaff. There are many, comfortable places within the center to (breast)feed, and they love toddlers, too! I've taken many of their classes with my daughters, and, while pricey, find them worth it since the mom-support is so great. more

A shop, baby classes, parents to be advice/classes, nursing programs... all under one roof. We have loved using Isis since we were pre-baby and now with number 2 on the way my husband wants to know why we don't own stock in Isis!! more

Best thing about Isis is their pre-natal classes. LOVED the breastfeeding class and Pump Talk. These sessions allowed me to become more confident and successful overall with breastfeeding and pumping while working FT. Isis also has breastfeeding supplies that other stores don't. I did not find them to be too pushy about breastfeeding but since I do breastfeed, I may be biased here. Store items are somewhat more expensive but they do have a lot of boutique items that are not available at larger stores. Service is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They've held things for me and helped me get items from their other stores. more

This is a great place for new moms. They sell great items and offer great services. If you are not breastfeeding, DO NOT go here. They are really into breastfeeding, which is great, but it is not possible for everyone. They made me feel horrible for not breastfeeding (even though they did not know there was a reason). Not recommended for people who bottle feed or who have adopted. more

Isis has been great while I was pregnant with #1 for everything from pre-natal classes to yoga. Post-baby, I joined many groups and enjoyed them all. Pregnant again, I'm back for more. Products, groups and resources are great. more

Isis has a free drop in breast - feeding help group with a certified nurse lactationist as well as private sessions by appointment but I got great help at the free drop in. I bought all my nursing bras there (they will check the fit and suggest types) and breast pumps for renting or buying. more

My husband and I took childbirth and Newborn Essentials classes -both were topnotch and very helpful for us novices. My baby and I went to the Great Beginning program her first month which has been the best thing ever with baby development information and a chance to make friends with eight women who also had babies under 2 months. Drop in nursing support group (Free) and good store with very knowledgeable staffers and teachers. more

I think this is a great concept with wonderful products (Haba, Robeez, Medela) for sale. Great for helping new moms create a "community." more

A great place for new moms. Excellent classes and facilities. more

Isis maternity sells some great unique products that are hard to find. The staff is highly trained and can explain everything! more

Editorial review from LilaGuide.com 3/25/2006

I took several classes there - the first class for new mothers was especially helpful. The staff is great. But felt a few times as though I were being sold to in the classes as everyone would then go buy the featured item in their shop, and some of the classes for older babies can be hit or miss. more

Great resource overall for one-stop shopping (classes, nursing bras, pumps, etc.). I found they pushed the membership a bit too hard, though. more
