Editorial review from GrubHub 3/10/2014

Good food, great lunch specials. I don't think they read my special instructions, I asked for no plastic cutlery but they included it anyway. more

Everything was really fresh and tasty! Loved the Greek salad and tahini especially. more

Great food, cozy little cute place 7/4/2008

The food was great. The service was a bit slow though. And I did not like their ice tea at all. But the homemade fresh lemonade was good. I will go again. more

Best Israeli-Style Humus in a casual east village spot 5/27/2008

If you have not tried this type of authentic hummus as a meal, you have not lived... Hummus made fresh and served warm, with a hard boilded egg, and different sauces on top. On the side get the Israeli Salad, and it comes with pickles olives too. They have whole wheat pita which is really nice. I go there every time i am in NY on a trip. The only other place that has similar hummus is taboon (see my review on that) but that is a much fancier and more expensive place. This is easy, quick, and the closest thing to fast food. The total check is like $15 per person! more

Best Hummus in town! 2/13/2008

This is the best place in town for hummus.... more

Great night out! 2/6/2008

For a bill under $30 - and healthy food - this is the best! The hummus with stewed fava beans was my favorite-- it is served with whole wheat pita bread and pickles -- all for $5! We had Goldstar beer (from Isreal) although we heard the Sangria is great as well! Pros: Great value, hummus is the best! Cons: Small dining area-- get there early! - have party room in back though! more

Best Hummus! 2/4/2008

This place has the most delicious hummus, and fresh fluffy pita. The hummus with roasted pine nuts and hard boiled egg is sooooo good. It's a small, no-frills klinda of place, the service is lacking a bit, but it's totally worth it . I love going here, and always take some home with me. You have to go!! Pros: delicious hummus and pita!!!!!!!! Cons: mediocre ambiance and service more

Best Falafel in NYC 11/28/2007

Hands down the best falafel I have ever had in NYC. Ever. Period. Light, fluffy, fresh and not greasy. Perfection. And the hummus ain't so bad either. Super friendly staff as well. Pros: Falaffel, Waitstaff, Pita, Hummus, Everything!! Cons: None. more

The best hummus in NYC! 11/20/2006

The Hummus Place is excellent. Try the hummus w/fava beans and egg...it is delicious. The portions are generous and the accompanying pita, hot sauce, and pickles round out this addictive meal. Pros: The best hummus ever, great pita, friendly service more

best hummus i've had yet 10/28/2006

the hummus place has the best hummus i've tried to date. i often have a craving for it, and usually eat there 2-3 times a week. the hummus tahini with the boiled egg is amazing, and their hot sauce is a must. the staff is friendly. as long as i am in NYC i will return to the hummus place again and again. Pros: great food, fast service Cons: small dining room more

Great Cheap Eat 10/18/2006

My Israeli friend introduced Hummus place to me, stating it was one of the best outside of Tel Aviv. He also says this one is better than the one on MacDougal - I can't tell the difference. The food is affordable (under $10 per person). The green spicy sauce is so good. Also, check out the Israeli root beer - delicious. I usually order one shakshuka and one hummus (I ask for the egg to be removed from this dish, since you already get egg in the shakshuka) between 2 diners. There is seating in the back of the restaurant which is quieter and more spacious than out front. Pros: Hummus, cheap eat more

The Best Hummus 2/16/2006

The location on St. Marks is really tiny and cramped but it is sooooo worth it. The hummus us amazing and they give you a pretty big portion at a very inexpensive price. One order comes with 2 fresh, decent sized, warm pita breads. There are only like 3-4 things on the menu - however, they are all perfection. Pros: Inexpensive, DELICIOUS HUMMUS, Fresh/warm Pita Bread Cons: very small restaurant more

Best hummus EVER... It's unbelieveable 12/20/2005

I never cared much about hummus until trying this place. It's exceedingly inexpensive and, despite being on St. Mark's Place, clean and elegant. The menu is simple and everything is delicious, especially the warm hummus foul. The pita bread is delicious. It's so affordable that I eat there all the time. Pros: Extremely good value, Delicious food, Healthy food more

MUST TRY - You'll love it!!! 8/19/2005

Best value for under $10! DELICIOUS!! I'm hooked, eat here all the time. The menu is short - cosists of 3 types of hummus (try the combo plate of 3), a soup & an awesome salad. They don't serve alchohol but you can bring your own. Their pita is freshly baked and tastes fantastic. Two can easily share one plate (for $5), but if you're starving you can have your own & you'll be stuffed. The location in EVillage is bigger, with a back room, but the place in McDougal is very accomidating & has great service. MUST TRY - you will not be dissapointed! Pros: food, value, service Cons: small restaurant, no alchohol more
