Plain and simple, a great time!!

Worst

I have been to Halo several times and love the scene but have never loved the music. I went last night with a group of girls and it was pretty dead. They were playing a lot of tec...

Groove is in the heart 9/10/2002

I strolled into Halo one night, and it was bumping for a Monday night nonetheless. Had some featured drink called Nexcite. Be sure to try that mixed drink they make with it, it was really good. Makes fire in the loins. cheers. -your groove I do deeply dig. more

Can't be beat! 8/22/2002

Wow.. finding Halo was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary night life scene. The DJ's are friendly and know what they are doing. The drinks are perfect and the staff really friendly! Pros: Great Music more

ATL REPRSENT 8/14/2002

HALOLICIOUS, BEST BAR IN THE CITY, HANDS DOWN, GREAT STAFF!!! Pros: USUALLY NO COVER, POTENT DRINKS, GREAT DJ'S more

Hidden But Worth It 7/28/2002

Despite not having a sign out front to let you know how to find it and a surly manager when we were making fun of that fact, this bar is a welcome refreshment to Midtown. We went on a weeknight so the crowd was smaller but very cool interior in a laidback NY wannabe kind of way - no cover charge and a lack of cheese which is tough to find in Midtown these days. The chairs weren't the most comfortable in the world but good service by the waitstaff and reasonable drink prices made up for it. Definitely worth a stop before you hit the clubs. more

Too cool for school... 7/14/2002

...in a good way. The space and design is sleek and hip, as is the crowd. As the night wears on, the crowd does get more diverse as people filter in from other nearby bars. The narrow alleyway in front of the bar is a bit uncomfortable, but you can get to the other side by taking a trip upstairs and around behind the bar, which allows you to take in the DJ and a little crowd watching. Downside: The music is LOUD, so don't expect to get into any deep conversations. Pros: Great service, Good music, if loud Cons: Loud, Hard to find entrance more

who is Flourie Birch? 7/4/2002

This bar is the best I have seen in any U.S. city. judging the drinks, decor, and service there is no comparison to any bar in the city. I love this bar and I am sorry if there is someone in the bar that does not match your guidelines for being cool. But variety is the spice of life.....barboy Pros: decor, music, secure valet Cons: hard to find, crowded more

Midtown curse: chic club, lame crowd 5/13/2002

This club is definitely a step in the right direction for the Midtown scene. Finally a place that doesn't strive to be exactly like every other club in the neighborhood (Cosmo, Lava, Tangier, etc.) Love the mod decor. I found the crowd a little obnoxious, though--dorky buttoned-down guys with their lame pickup lines. It is Midtown, after all, so what can you expect? At least they don't charge a cover. Pros: Cool decor, No cover charge Cons: Lame crowd more

Editorial
  • The Scene
An industrial gray door that once led into the old Biltmore Hotel's basement now opens to an astutely designed club with chic cocktails and see-and-be-seen opportunities. Several blocks from overblown Crescent Avenue, this demure lounge places modern furniture against a concrete backdrop. The mood is set with oversized blown-glass light fixtures that bathe the crowd in a flattering glow. The bar is long, white and glows various shades of red, blue and yellow throughout the evening. A glass wall behind the bar reveals a two-level lounge where DJs play down-tempo tunes on weekend nights.

    The Draw
A diverse, ever-changing crowd keeps this club interesting. Nightlife pros are attracted to Halo's laid-back midweek scene. It's a nice setting for sipping cocktails and listening to music; there's even free wi-fi. Weekends, however, attract a coiffed and accessorized clientele on parade.
