Plain and simple, a great time!!

I have been to Halo several times and love the scene but have never loved the music. I went last night with a group of girls and it was pretty dead. They were playing a lot of tec...

Best Mid-Town Club 11/27/2007

The old Biltmore LIVES. The old Biltmore Hotel's basement now opens to an astutely designed club with chic cocktails and see-and-be-seen opportunities. Several blocks from overblown Crescent Avenue, this demure lounge places modern furniture against a concrete backdrop. The mood is set with oversized blown-glass light fixtures that bathe the crowd in a flattering glow. The bar is long, white and glows various shades of red, blue and yellow throughout the evening. A glass wall behind the bar reveals a two-level lounge where DJs play down-tempo tunes on weekend nights. Lots of events and specials. Lots of fun.... more

The Trance 9/11/2007

The music kept at an up beat tempo. Great atmosphere, and people were very social. Drinks weren't to expensive, and the Hooka was an original feature. The area was kept clean and the servers kept my cup full, I recommend this place to the single crowd. Pros: Nice location Cons: parking difficult to find. more

Very Trendy 7/18/2007

I have only been here twice, both on weekdays, so I have yet to experience the weekend night scene. But what I have seen of Halo I would recommend. It is very trendy and modern. It had a lounge feel and a dark lighting effect. Very nice. I am looking foward to going on a weekend and experiencing what the place is really all about! Pros: Trendy Cons: Not busy on weekdays more

Awesome! 10/29/2006

Went there this weekend and this place rocked! If your looking for a cool spot to chill and hang out with your friends and you dont want alot of attitude from the bar staff this is the spizzle! Pros: The Staff, The Atmosphere Cons: None, parking but thats the problem everywhere more

Worth the trip 6/7/2006

I had heard of Halo and decided to stop in last time I was in town for work. Finding the place was a tad difficult: we didn't really see any significant signage. Luckily there were some helpful people in the neighborhood who were happy to point us in the right direction. Overall, I was impressed with the drinks and the atmosphere: the drinks were good quality (not bottom shelf plastic bottle liquor), the bartenders were nice and really helpful, and the decor is just really really cool! I'll definitely stop in again next time I'm in Atlanta! Pros: Drinks, Staff, Decor Cons: Difficult to find more

Great spot (but not for singles) 4/19/2006

This is probably my favorite bar/club in all of Atlanta. It's a classy place, well-designed, with a very good staff, decent food and great drinks. Many of the female bartenders are quite gorgeous - it's always nice to have eye candy when sipping drinks at the bar, right? My one beef, and it's not Halo's fault, is that it is often top-rated as a singles scene. This couldn't be farther from the truth, at least for a single guy looking to meet women. Most of the time it is just couples and lots of single guys in groups. I've never, ever met a single girl here - if there are any in the club, they tend to be, well, not "a-list" girls. But, if you're looking for a great place to hang out, Halo is it. Pros: Great atmosphere, gorgeous bar staff, smores Cons: not a singles scene, packed on weekends, no hot single girls more

Decent spot once in a while 11/30/2005

Beautiful interior lacks competent bartenders and service. I enjoy the atmosphere greatly, unfortunately its usually difficult to get a drink. Pros: Atmosphere, Ambience Cons: Service, Bartenders, Drinks more

What more could you want? 3/27/2004

Can't believe I just discovered Halo and live less than four blocks away... Halo is amazing! As far as the drink prices - they were not outrageous and actually quite reasonable considering everything is basically top shelf! Anyone that complains about the prices there doesn't know good liquor or a good drink and doesn't deserve to be there. The staff was amazing and friendly, as was the company. This place blew me away, so much to take in architecturally and design-wise... I finally found my favorite midtown bar Pros: amazing drinks, friendly crowd, awesome atmosphere more

Always a good time 2/19/2004

Always a great place to grab a drink. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. I recommend ordering food during a visit--the macaroni & cheese, ham & cheese sandwich and s'mores are amazing! Pros: Great food, Atmosphere, Attentive staff more

Wonderful Weekday Bar 12/29/2003

My favorite weekday bar in Atlanta beyond all doubts. Wonderful architecture, great staff, fantastic DJs and a wonderfully diverse crowd create a bar that emanates style and can still be a place for Midtown's locals to wind down/up an weekday evening. Contrary to otternam14's complaint about no dress code, I love the freedom to go at anytime to the bar, straight from work or a friend's place without worrying about maintaining an artificial image. Pros: Staff, No Dance Floor, DJs Cons: No Dance Floor, Weekend Crowds more

cHiLL oUt pLacE... 8/9/2003

... A very nice chill place ... opend mind atmosphere ... lovely music ... beutiful people ... love the waitresses and bartenders ... drinks con un buen sabor! Pros: music/people/area, no charge, drinks and service Cons: 18+? once in a while, balcony or patio more

halo vs. crescent 2/4/2003

i totally agree with the original rating. i used to hang out at the crescent room on an almost daily basis until the buckhead crowd caught on. now, i just go to halo. i love the staff & the atmosphere. it's a good place to meet famous folks as well... more

An Amazing Place 1/12/2003

This place is one of the most beautiful bars you will ever have the pleasure to step foot into. The amazing lighting and layout is simply makes this one of the coolest places I have ever been. The scene is solid and the people all seemed pretty cool. It was busy the night I went there, so it must not be a secret that this place is one of the best bars in Atlanta. more

all types o people 12/28/2002

great mix of cultures at this hip, urban, upscale bar. people of all colors, creeds, and sexual preferences (no animal lovers, plz) made up the crowd on the saturday night i went. this is not a pick up joint, it's a place to hang out (not to say there aren't plenty of the opposite sex). somewhat clickish due to the bars layout, and it's not very big, but service is good (as was the music), and if you aren't a cacky pants-button down shirt type, definitely worth checking out. Pros: no cover, good music Cons: narrow bar area more

anyhing goes! 12/25/2002

anything goes behind the white onyx bar. With very deep lounge grooves and great mood lighting one can't help falling into the scene. definetly a place to see and be seen as well as to be seeing. more

Glowing Alabaster and Beautiful People 11/29/2002

The night before Thanksgiving with Atlanta being fairly dead HALO was vividly alive, sophisticated and sexy without an attitude. A very discreet entrance reminiscent of chic Manhattan establishments from clubbier days opens into a cavern of beautifully lit space. Raw concrete posts contrast with a polished alabaster bar that glows from within with a very flattering warm light. The staff offers excellent service, is there when desired and otherwise stays out of the way. The crowd is largely made up of attractive, affable young people a not ashamed of being friendly and visibly enjoining themselves. Drinks were drinks and nothing was overpriced or silly. HALO is a definitely the current highpoint on the Atlanta bar scene. Go for the atmosphere and mix with the crowd. Pros: Atmosphere, Friendly, Attractive crowd Cons: DJ but no dance floor more

Best Lounge in Atlanta 11/6/2002

Best overall lounge in Atlanta. Friendliest staff of any "hip" establishment...bartender apologized for making me wait while he was taking care of the customers who were there before me (this happened on more than one occasion). They spent some money decorating this place; for all those who think this place looks cheap because it is spartan, you do not need to be intown. Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the cover charge? I keep hearing they sometimes charge although I've never been charged before. Pros: hip atmosphere, friendly service, no cover...so far Cons: no dance floor, hard to find seats more

no sign= mystique? 10/31/2002

its not that hard to find. If you can follow directions, its on the corner of W P'tree & 6th. when you get inside, the decor is fabulous. The crowd mixes & mingles somewhat, usually because you're forced to by the tiny space between the bar & wall. Service can be slow, its better on weeknights when its not as crowded. There is plenty to look at whether it be people watching or the excellent bar that changes hues throughout the night. For all the hype, I find its relatively unpretentious. If you only have a weekend to spend in ATL and you're fired up to go out, make this a stop. more

futuristic & trendy, but a tad ghetto 9/25/2002

I, for one, am glad there is no sign outside . . if you can't figure out where it is, you don't deserve to get in. As of late, it's become a tad too ghetto compared to the forerunning clientele but I guess Atlanta's not metropolis enough to be discerning like NYC. The decor is flawless: from the light-infused bar to the stairway leading into the roof, this places looks great. The service is great; except when it's packed and it's hard past the gaukers to the bar. The food is of excellent quality, although they lack a requisite dessert offering. The french toast is well worth fighting to find parking for. Pros: funky, cool bathrooms, decor, service Cons: no dancefloor, OTP crowd, sporadic covercharge more

Editorial
  • The Scene
An industrial gray door that once led into the old Biltmore Hotel's basement now opens to an astutely designed club with chic cocktails and see-and-be-seen opportunities.

    The Draw
A diverse, ever-changing crowd keeps this club interesting. Nightlife pros are attracted to Halo's laid-back midweek scene. It's a nice setting for sipping cocktails and listening to music; there's even free wi-fi. Weekends, however, attract a coiffed and accessorized clientele on parade.
