Great Sushi. Far from Rude and Far from Offensive 4/24/2011

What runfaster neglected to mention is that his wife made a total ass out of herself. The restaurant was PACKED and it was obvious they were busy. Upon learning that it would take 45 minutes she commented that ""I've never had to wait for sushi that long in my life!"". She's obviously not had good sushi. The chef that told her there was a Burger King down the road was trying to be helpful. She wanted something fast and that was the closet restaurant (though I can see how she might have misunderstood. It was loud and busy (as most GOOD sushi places are). Not content to just cancel her order and leave, she came back 10 minutes later to tell the chef she wasn't ""white trash"" and then started to yell to the restaurant at large that they should never come back. At this point we, the guests who were thoroughly enjoying our sushi, had enough and started applauding her for her annoying outburst, inviting her to leave. She may not think she's ""white trash"" and certainly thinks herself superior to the ""white trash"" that dines at Burger King, but she certainly proved that she's ""lower middle class trash!"" In any case Oh Sushi is a great little place for sushi with three very dedicated and talented sushi chefs! Give it a try! more

Rude, Offensive 4/6/2011

My wife and daughter went in to get some take out a few days ago. As a courtesy, the person who takes your order or sits you down will tell you how long it will take so you can decide to stay or wait, especially if its over a half hour or so. The order-taker did not do this and after ringing it up (and it wasn't that much) told her it would be a 45 minute wait. Well, my wife said that thanks but she wouldn't be able to wait almost an hour so she asked to cancel the order. About that time the sushi chef yelled out sarcastically for everyone to hear, ?There?s a Burger King is down the street!"" With sushi restaurants being popular and so many to choose from, I would urge you to put ?Oh Sushi? formerly, ""Go Sushi"" at the bottom of your list to visit or preferably not at all. I had to put a star or the review would not post...it really doesn't deserve even one star. more

Fabulous Food Unparalleled service! 5/29/2010

I went into Go Sushi with some friends for lunch over the weekend and must say I have found my new favorite place ever! We walked in and were greeted with a sincere happy hello and were instantly given menu's and drinks. We tried the Go, Mars, Vegas and Playboy rolls as well as 2 ""specialties"" from the chef. I was impressed with the food as well as the service and would reccomend this to ALL sushi lovers and first timers alike. Pros: Very Fresh Cons: I couldn't eat more. :) more

Terrible service & environment 2/25/2010

My boyfriend and I decided to try some other local sushi restaurants in our area...I read some good reviews here on City Search so we decided to try it. We walked in and it was kind of busy because it was the weekend. However, NO ONE even looked at us or said anything to us. We stood there not knowing if we should seat ourselves or what the situation was. Another customer that was waiting for the bar said we should just sit at the open table by the door...we did for almost 10 min wondering if someone would come over or what the deal was....we finally left and I'm so glad we did. We ended up trying another Sushi restaurant where when we walked in we were greeted with a smile and excellent Sushi...we've been back there 5x in the last month! Pros: ? Cons: Worst Service Ever...looks dark and dingy more

Tradeoffs 1/21/2009

Been here half a dozen times now, and have had a similar experience each time. Service is lacking but the food is second to none. Depends on what is important to you. Small parking lot, small place, but that helps them keep their quality of food under control. The wait time is pretty substantial but the food is almost always worth it. Hopefully you won't need a drink refill while you're there cause you probably won't get it. I bet if you frequent the place and sit at the bar on a regular basis the service will improve, but I live too far away to try it. It'd be interesting to hear their side of the story. They probably pay nothing for rent and have very little seating anyway so there is no point in improving... Pros: food is amazing Cons: long wait, small and cramped, bad service more

Good Sushi, layed back environment. 12/20/2008

One of the first places we think of when we think of sushi. Simple but cool interior. Friendly service. Pros: Service, prices, environment Cons: Dried out and cold rice with nigiri more

price is right, but the place is tight. 11/26/2008

Fresh fish! After trying many sushi restaurants around the valley I always find myself back at Oh sushi(go sushi). I know I will always have the freshest fish....yes there may be a wait, BUT well worth your time. The specials are so creative-you won't taste or see anything like their combinations in the valley. The environment is positive and intimate, but not the place to spend a quiet romantic evening. Pros: freshest fish and friendly atmosphere. Cons: servers aren' consistant and parking. more

DO NOT EAT HERE 12 INCH HAIR IN SUSHI....POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT BEST 10/31/2008

Do not go to this sushi restaurant. I?ve lived in the area for 6 months and had frequented Go Sushi many times. My girlfriend and I got take out from there the other night. When we got the sushi home my girlfriend noticed a hair in her shrimp tempura roll. She tried to pull it out, however, she stopped pulling after 10 inches of hair came out and it was still in the sushi. I called the restaurant twice and offered to bring the sushi in with the hair in it they told me not to. Despite my efforts I was given the run around both times that the owner or manager would call me back. They never did. So despite paying $40 dollars for sushi we didn?t' eat, they weren?t even courteous enough to call me back to tell me they weren't going to do anything about it. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT EAT HERE more

ORGINAL AND QUALITY!! 6/8/2008

This is another place I hesitate telling people about because it is soooo amazing but small. Pros: Creative recipes/rolls etc. Cons: small ...not enough seating to make millions on their great food! ha more

Average - lack of atmosphere hinders it 6/8/2008

The sushi is pretty good here....average but not outstanding. Have a good variety of rolls but the atmosphere is LACKING....and service can be subpar. Pros: one of the few locations in this part of town Cons: lacking atmosphere and pricing a little high for what you get more

Excellent Sushi w/Cheap prices! 8/19/2007

We read all the Sushi reviews and decided on this one. The sushi was wonderful and the prices were in line with what I'm used to paying....about $6 or $7 per roll. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the atmosphere is that of a dive. It wasnt dirty, just had an ""old bar"" feel to it. Others will like it, though, because of the unassuming atmosphere. Pros: Excellent taste and prices Cons: ambience more

always keep coming back...... 4/18/2007

One thing I have to say...I have eaten at alot of sushi resturants but I keep coming back to Go Sushi.I love that place !!!! Pros: food Cons: parking more

Service Nightmare!!!! Food is average. 3/9/2007

I used to be a regular and loved this resteraunt. As they became more popular and well known, the service became awful! The servers try to work as little as possible and hang out with their buddies (who are always in eating for free). There is one gentleman in specific who is unbelievably rude. He has ignored our table multiple times even after the chef points out that we have not been helped to the point that the chef has to try to help us. They speak about numerous things that are compleatly unprofessional. I would not say that it is kid freindly unless you would like to hear about what kind of mary jane is available in salt lake during different parts of the year, and this being thirty minutes after you asked for a soda and still don't have it. The udon soup used to be delicious but they switched noodles( i'm sure to cut cosrs) and it take sat least fifteen minutes to get, consistantly. In my opinnion, Go sushi is the unfortunate story of a company that grew too fast and did not have peole in charge who had any experience in the industry. I watched Go blossom and now they have come full circle to their withering status now. No thanks! more

Imaginative sushi! Good service! Try it!!! 1/23/2007

I first tried sushi nearly three years ago, when I moved to Salt Lake City. There are so many sushi restaurants, that my wife and I started trying many of them in the area. I'm certainly hooked on sushi and I'm now hooked on Go Sushi. My wife and I had lunch at Go Sushi today and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. The fish was obviously fresh. The owner of the establishment was behind the counter and made a couple of the rolls we ordered. The service was very good. My soft drink was re-filled twice before it was half-empty and once when I wasn't even aware the waitress had re-filled it. If you like somewhat adventurous sushi, Go Sushi is the place for you. They aren't a ""traditional"" sushi restaurant, they don't claim to be ""traditional"" and they don't apologize for their approach. The building is nothing to look at (inside or out). But it is clean and the food is outstanding, so who cares what the building looks like? I would highly recommend Go Sushi ... Go! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking more

Food worth the wait. 9/1/2006

We drove by this place many times, and finally decided to try it. Now we wonder why we waited so long. The food is as good as Happy Sumo (our previous favorite) but without the mall crowds, and the prices are much better (and you don't have to pay for parking). The service is very freindly, though at times it is a bit slow but well worth the wait. If you like sushi you must try this place. Pros: awesome food, friendly people Cons: service is a little slow, but food is worth it. Great for take out more

Best Sushi in Salt Lake 7/23/2006

Go Sushi is a cozy little place to enjoy excellent Sushi. The fish is ALWAYS fresh, the mood is relaxed and the service is great. If you want the best Sushi in Utah visit Go Sushi and try their rolls. Pros: Fish is ALWAYS Fresh Cons: To Go Orders can take a bit longer more

Good value, fresh fish 7/20/2006

Go Sushi is a tiny little sushi joint that will instantly become a favorite. We frequent the place at least once a week and have yet to get anything but perfectly made, absolutely fresh fish, with an ever changing variety. The roll variety is wonderful, very creative and a treat. Pros: Yummy, fresh fish. Unpretentious. Cons: Your order is never ready for take out when they say it is. Always add 10 minutes :) more

Best Little Sushi place this Mouth has tasted. 7/4/2006

Last weekend some friends and I were heading to Sakura Sushi and we got there just after they closed. Which was a blessing in disguise. We were hell bent on getting some good sushi and Go Sushi was all that and a bag of Wonton Noodles! Great and I mean Great Mia Roll!!! The other rolls we had were excellent! The Music was great! The server and the chef were really nice. It was a lot closer to my house then Sakura! Great Prices!! I noticed that there were Larger then normal pieces of fish on each roll. That could have been just a coincidence, but I prefer to think that's how they Roll at Go Sushi. No pun intended. I would recommend Go Sushi to anyone that is looking for a cool new place for Sushi. Be careful though. It will become your favorite little unknown Sushi Bar in town. more

The Cheapest and Best Sushi in Town!!! 6/18/2006

The people there are really nice. They know me too well because I'm a regular. I like this Sushi Bar because it's close to where I live (~2.5Miles) and i can ride my bike there and back. It's much cheaper than Ichibon or Suhiro. The workers (yes, I'm using that word XD) there are more friendly, and are probaly the friendliest in town. It makes me happy to go there because the restaurant has that air to it. Pros: Cheap, Nice people, Great food Cons: Parking, Small more

THE BEST SUSHI IN SALT LAKE, HANDS DOWN 10/31/2005

I've pretty much sampled all that Salt Lake has to offer and for years Happy Sumo was my favorite because of the incredible quality of the food. Well, Go Sushi is now #1! The food at Go Sushi is at least as good, if not better, than that of Happy Sumo, but a lot less expensive! The music they play is awesome, and the chef's are incredibly friendly and talented. You must check this place out if you are a true sushi lover! Pros: awesome food, inexpensive, convenient more
