Dental Salon

For years I was wary of dental treatments - I did my best to avoid boring waits in offices, gritty teeth cleaning, and complicated procedures. All of that changed at the Dental Salon - the staff is friendly, the environment calming (and stocked with great magazines, which is a plus!), and any procedures - from regular cleaning to fillings for cavaties-- are done quickly, comfortably, and very professionally. Every person I have interacted with during my two years as a patient has been friendly and quick to explain everything from procedures to how my insurance works. The Salon also has easily accessible parking (and validation) and absurdly convenient hours for working Chicagoans (I have had evening appointments late after work, as well as others on the weekends before brunch). All in all, I wish more businesses were like the Dental Salon - convenient, practical, and bearing high-quality services. I was referred by a co-worker who highly recommended Dental Salon. After my visit I have recommended another co-worker who has since referred another. My dentist was Dr. Glud and she really took time to patiently address all of my concerns. The paper work was sent to me beforehand which I completed with all of my personal information and insurance info before I arrived. At my visit I never picked up a pen or took out my wallet. Crazy. I am actually looking forward to my next visit! Pros: Mostly everything. Cons: Sort of a long wait between when I sat down and when the dentist arrived. more

I had a great experience at my visit to the Dental Salon. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and very personable. This was my third time to Dental Salon and I continue to be a completely satisfied patient. They have very convenient hours for busy lifestyles (8 to 8 M-F and 8-2 Sat). They even recently extended those hours to include sundays from 8AM to 2 PM which is awesome and rare. The office is located on the 8th floor in the same building as the Crunch Fitness and is clean with modern decor and comfortable. The office staff are courteous and professional. I have had 2 different dentists (they try to keep continuity of care unless you request, and mine was schedule related, NOT dentist related) and 4 different assistants and all have been well qualified. My teeth were cleaned thoroughly in a painless fashion. Insurance coverage is great. I highly recommend Dental Salon for your dental care. more

Dental Salon not only has a nice office, from the moment you walk in the door, until you leave, everyone is extremely nice. The staff is informative and easy going. One of the best in the city that I have visited. I havent had a bad experience in 3 visits since last year. The staff is always very accomadating and I've never had to wait for more than 10 minutes to see Dr. Desai. The facilities are hands down the best I've been to and you can tell they take pride the office and their patients experience and comfort. My wife and I had a horrendous first experience with Dental Salon and will not be returning. \r \r 1) Ever been to a hairstylist just out of beauty school? That's how we felt with the hygienists who performed the initial preparatory work. They were friendly but extremely shaky and appeared to be in training.\r \r 2) Dental Salon is the only practice we have ever visited where regular flash photos were taken of our mouths. This procedure involved large metal clamps being inserted into our mouths in order to extend our cheeks and my wife nearly gagged.\r \r 3) My dentist (who shall remain nameless) seemed competent enough to scrape teeth but had a positively creepy personality. Think ""Rocky Horror"".\r \r 4) The entire Dental Salon environment, from the initial questionnaire to the expensive imaging equipment to the post-exam interview, is clearly geared toward aggressively selling patients on extensive and expensive services. We have subsequently seen another dentist who told us that a number of the procedures Dental Salon had advised were not necessary.\r \r 5) We phoned to cancel an appointment on the morning of the scheduled visit and were told that we would be charged a $150 cancellation fee!\r \r If you are looking for a designer-inspired waiting room and million-dollar view of the Chicago river, by all means indulge yourself at Dental Salon. If you're seeking comfortable, no-pressure and reasonable cost dental care, I can recommend Dr. Jason Hong. more

nice place yes! ... BUT it is a total ripped off. I went there for a routine clean-up that was supposed to cover by my dental insurance. One of the dentists, or COMMERCIAL DENTIST, proposed a $5,000 work on my teeth & gum. nope, I didn't have any aches or pains, decay or etc.\r \r Though I have told the dentist that I do not need any extra expenses right now, I was charged extra $80 on the first visit, $60 on the second day. Then a month later I got a bill from dental salon for another $100. WTF! Checking with my dental insurance to find out that they billed my insurance almost $2,000 for what's supposed to be a routine cleaning. \r \r DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE NICE LOOKING OFFICE. THEY WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR THAT.\r \r more

I can write a legnthly review but the only things that need to be said is that The Dental Salon is the Bomb! I have had a lot of work done the past two years (due to a childhood disease that I had) to the point where it had became almost a ""second"" home for me. I have developed a good relationship with many of them to the point that I will even stop by some days JUST TO SAY HELLO! For those who hate going to the dentist, there is no way that you will hate going to the dentist after The Dental Salon but if you are that person then there is seriously something wrong with you!\r \r The last thing that anyone should know is that ""a fun, positive, honest and comforable visit to the dentist is only a Dental Salon away.""\r \r Thank you Dental Salon for everything and for making me a smile that I can now feel confident about! I went in to see Dr. Lipoff for my first real 'dental work' and had a great experience. When I expressed reservations about receiving my first crown (and losing all subsequent tooth structure), Dr. Lipoff understood my nervousness, and after doing a thorough examination of the tooth, told me I'd need only a 3/4 crown, which for some reason made me feel better. He answered all my questions with ease, and I never felt rushed for time because of it.\r \r Overall the office is really nice. It's more mod than your typical dental office, and the staff was extremely friendly as well. I'd highly recommend Dental Salon to anyone! more

Everything at this office seems to be designed to make the patients feel as soothed & relaxed as possible. The staff are all very easy going yet professional. The exam rooms are light filled. They take photos of your mouth so you can see exactly what problems need to be corrected & they tell you what your options are. I had a severely traumatizing incident with a dentist as a very young child so I am quite wary of them. I have never felt as relaxed in a dentist's chair as I did here. Pros: calm relaxing atmosphere great for those with dental phobias Cons: a bit of a trip from Oak Park but worth it more

This is my third time to the Dental Salon, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dentist. I am so glad I switched to Dental Salon. The staff is very courtous, professional, and obviously experienced. All the doctors have been very concerned about my comfort, and I always get a follow up call. I am very happy with my new smile. Everything is clean, evening hours are a huge plus, great view, great magazine selection. This is my second visit to Dental Salon, and I would agree with most Yelpers that this place is excellent. Everyone from the staff to the dentists, are very knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciate how meticulous and detailed oriented Dr. Desai was when conducting her work. The times that I have been there, I hardly had to wait. And location is very convenient, with plenty of parking on the street, and close to the CTA red line. They also validate indoor parking. No one likes to switch doctors/dentists, but the Dental Salon made my transition very comfortable. I moved to Chicago a year & a half ago & attempted to retain my docs & dentist back home in Ohio... scheduling appointments around holidays, etc... a very difficult task... needless to say, I gave the Dental Salon a chance & was pleasantly surprised. Their office is state of the art, clean & friendly. Dr. Desai is great! I feel it's important to have a good relationship with your doctor & she made that possible. As a new patient, I was greeted wth a warm welcome at the reception desk, and after filling out my paper work, barley waited for five minutes before i was called to the dentist chair. I was preped by a dental hygenist, who explained everything and was quite friendly. Shortly after she finished, the dentist arrived and he explained my xray results and a reccomended treatment then proceeded to clean my teeth. All in all they did a great job and i was in and out in under an 45 mins. more

First I will say that I have had to see several dentist s over the last few years due to a severe auto accident. Dental Salon is by far the best dental experience I have ever had.\r \r The entire staff from the time that you walk in the door until the time that you see your dentist, the treatment is top notch! I needed dental work in a hurry and dental salon did not let me down. I had X-rays, molding and an eventual partial made for my mouth within a one-week period! I could not believe the quality care that I received and friendliness of the staff. My mother could not stop talking about the service to all of our family and her friends. She has had to experience the billing issues and the unfriendly staff at all of the dental offices that I've visited and she is usually not to happy when we leave. This time she was so happy and teared up in the elevator when we left because she felt that finally we have found a dental office that cares!\r \r Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I went in for my first visit to the Dental Salon for a routine cleaning and was very impressed. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful, and I waited only a short time before I was taken to a room. To my surprise, after the assistant set everything up and took the standard x-rays, it was the dentist that did most of the cleaning. At other dental offices I was used to the dentist coming in, taking a quick look and leaving to the assistant to do the rest. That wasn't the case though. He looked everything over as usual but then did all of the cleaning (aside from the polishing and flossing). It was a welcomed change. In addition to the good service the office was very clean and bright. I didn't have any work done other than a standard cleaning so I don't feel like I can fully judge yet, but I would definitely recommend the place. Pros: Clean Office, Friendly Service more

When I went in to have my first cleaning I was suprised to find that the dentist (not an assistant) would actually be performing most of the cleaning. Dr. Julie Glud and her assistant provided excellent care, taking time to explain everything. Though the office is fancy and the location is in the heart of Lincoln Park, the staff at Dental Salon are not pretentious. At our initial meeting, Dr. Glud took time to explain my X-Rays and necessary treatment. The office staff helped me to sort out how soon and what my insurance would cover and created a treatment plan. Other points to consider: I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room or in the exam room, the exam chairs are super comfortable (if I weren't at the dentist I might just fall asleep in it) and there is always fresh water available. The Dental Salon is still a trip to the dentist, but I have found the staff to be caring and compentent in all areas of my visits. more

Dental Salon will email you all the forms so you will have them already filled out when you walk in. Less wait! Ask for Dr. Glud when you go! She is the nicest dentist ever and very good at what she does. I needed some filling done with local anesthesia. She completely numbed me so that I barely felt anything, not even the needle going in! I was a bit nervous to have this done and it wasn't so bad at all! Dr. Glud also made sure I was aware of the prices and how much my insurance would cover before I went ahead with the procedures. I also had my teeth cleaned by her during my first visit and the dental hygenists were very professional as well. They certainly make you feel very comfortable. Overall good experience. more
