This company has been irresponsible with service and quality has gone down. I would not recommend you use them. They ""fixed"" blinds for me, which broke a day later and they refused to return to re-thread them after they were paid. They blamed us for that. Two pairs of blinds? They are crooks-point blank! more

Purchased window and terrace blinds from them and they were not cheap. The window blinds have survived because they don't have to be opened and closed so often, but the Terrace Blinds have broken one panel at a time. Turns out they are plastic with no reinforcement in the area that clips on at the top of the blind. Every time you touch them they break. They are absolutely crap and if they don't replace the broken panels on them, their reputation will not only be crap with me, but with everyone I speak to. I wanted to buy a Hunter Douglas vertical partition. Stopped by the store with measurements to get an estimate on the price. The man said $390. OK . He agreed to come by to get the exact measurement. Another man from the store came, measured, and gave a price of $490. Asked why the big difference he said the other man didn't know what he was saying??? OK. I agreed to purchase them so he took the small side piece from a valance from my window to use for ordering the correct shade and style, and I asked to open them from left to right. OK. It took 6 weeks to get them because they had to come from overseas??? Humm. When he did install them I was shock to find them a shade darker, too long and they opened in the middle. The man said we never spoke on how to open them, so he took it upon himself to order them split in the middle. and when asked about the different shade he gave NO COMMENT. I asked him to take them away and fixed the track, he said they are fine just leave them. When he pulled the chain the to open them they made a squeeking noise. i said what is that noise, he said THEY ARE NEW AND OVER TIME THEY WILL NOT MAKE ANYMORE NOISE. That was it, when he left I called the store and spoke with the 1st man who assured me that on Monday 11/16/09 he will TRY to get it the way I ordered them. The installer didnt have the small piece he took for a sample so he cut a piece of the valance he installed and put it in the slot, now my window have a side valance that don't match. What a waste. If they dont have my purchase correct by Thanksgiving I will have them in court to get my $490 back and go somewhere else. I am not a CHILD, if you want to play games, play with yourself. My first experience with Dal was over 13 years when I first moved to Co-Op City. They are a fixture in the community and they are very experienced, well-known, courteous and dependable. However, all of this comes with a price tag. They are pricey - there is no doubt about that. You pay for the convenience of them being onsite in the Dreiser Mall and you pay for their experience and knowledge of Co-Op city apartments. Yes, you can get better prices on paint and hardware supplies by going to the local Home Depot and I would recommend that you do that if it's supplies you need. But if you want the convenience of it all, I would recommend them for locksmith services and special order blinds - especially for the larger co-op city apartment windows and terrace doors. Good job, good products, great experience, but again, you do pay for it. Pros: Convenient for co-op city residents Cons: A bit pricey more

The staff at Dal's Paint and Hardware are very knowledgeable and has excellent customer services. Their prices are comparable and sometimes better than those of other suppliers servicing the community. They are a fixture in the community and knows the apartments. I will continue to go back. I believe the person submitting the last review was mistaken. There are people putting out flyers and some are pretending to be affliliated with Dal because of the store's excellent service and very fair pricing. Yes, the store is a fixture in Co-op City, but this is because the people there are so helpful and knowledgable. These guys have been a fixture in the Co-Op City area for quite some time. Too bad that they feel so comfortable that they can fleece people with their prices. They are absolutely ridiculous. Recently I asked them to take down the blinds in my house while windows were being installed. They stated this would be $50 per window-just to take them down-nevermind put them back up! I could just get new blinds-installed- but of course-with someone else. They are not the only show in town and they should remember that! more
