A very ""unhospitable place"" 3/8/2011

In fairness, we are mixed up trying to sort out a couple of missing appts for my child. The office staff is horrid.... difficult to reach.. and if you ask to speak to a Dr... you would think that you were trying to get an appointment with God. Terry bills I think $140 for 20 minutes which is about $400/hr and $3000/day. Ridiculous actually The issue is that my child missed an appointment... the office called and for once were kind of nice.. they said.. we forgive that one. Then my child missed a second appointment... she got there in the 16th minute. Not sure why his highness could have not spoken to her for 3 or 4 minutes. Told them, that we are leaving the practice, and guess what... the forgiven appointment has reappeared!! This is disingenuous to say the least, and simply wrong. Clapacs is not a bad guy, but he could have seen her for 3 or 4 minutes... the office.. is very, very restrictive.. no drinks in the office.. .and the inside looks like a barn. Restroom key only on request... and God forbid you need to use the phone. Clapacs has to remember, he is a human being.. in fact, we are all in this together.....a little more of a humanistic approach is welcome. e have waited for him twice .. once for 30 minutes and once for 40...so what about my time? more

Reply by Dr Clapacs 11/17/2010

Without betraying any confidentiality,I feel the need to reply to the comment by ""Loving Sister"". I have reviewed the case in question thoroughly, and have also spoken with ""Loving Sister"". While the death of her loved one is a terrible tragedy, the facts she presents here are completely wrong. The patient was NOT denied an appointment due to owing money, but was in fact given the first available appointment. I believe in her grief she has misunderstood the facts. This case was presented to the NC medical board, which found me to be at NO FAULT. I deeply regret the death of her loved one, but I can not let these falsehoods stand in a public place. more

Highly respected colleague, thorough, caring 11/16/2010

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Clapacs professionally and personally over many years. In this area, Dr. Clapacs is one of the colleagues I trust the most when it comes to treatment for patients who are complex, and have a long history of recurring symptoms. Often these people have suffered much and have had failed treatment with many medicines. In referring patients to see him, I know they will get the optimal care that is needed. He is thorough, careful and thinks through treatment plans very well. more

Get help however you can 5/1/2010

I read the review from ""Loving Sister"" and was surprised and very sad. I would never suspect that this doctor would have such a policy, because he is always seems helpful and concerned. I wanted to add, though, that I lost a loved one to suicide, and I would say to anyone whose loved one is distraught: get help anyway you can! If you can't get in to see a regular doctor, take your loved one to the emergency room or to Holly Hill or just stay with him or her as long as it takes. It's such a hard call to make. I made the wrong call myself and wish I had it to do over again. I am just sad this happened. Pros: thoughtful more

Great Office 8/26/2008

A friend of mine recommended that I go to her office for anxiety help. I have nothing bad to say about it. The front office staff was great. The check in lady was so kind and helpful. Check out was good too. The md was great and really helped me. This place gets 2 thumbs up and toes too! Pros: Check in was perfect, clean office, knowledgeable, helpful Cons: i have none more

Much better now 7/22/2008

I read these reviews just today and have to say that I called this office at a very low point in my life and the staff was very helpful and courteous. I have been a patient here for 5 months now and am very pleased. The doctor that I see is professional and caring. He gave me hope and a path to make things better. The staff worked with me from the very beginning to find an appointment quickly and has always been helpful when I call. I would recommend this office to everyone I know. Pros: clean, professional, comfortable Cons: unaccessible parking more

Front Office Staff Rude 12/13/2007

I agree with the other comments. Doctors are great but the front office staff is rude. Whoever the lady is that answers the phone is rude and talks down to you. If it wasn't for my son loving the doctor I would switch. The doctors need to be aware of this because it is making their practice look bad. Pros: Good Doctors Cons: Rude office Staff more

North Raleigh Psychiatry - Average, not bad, not great 10/10/2007

I've been going to NRP for about 7 months and I see Dr. Clapacs. Dr. Clapacs is a nice enough guy, at first I didn't think he cared much about what I had to say and was just waiting for my 15 minutes was up so he could write me a prescription and walk me out. However; to be totally fair he did say that his primary method of practice was to prescribe medication to adults so I can't really fault him as he tole me this up front. The office is a little hard to find but very nice and clean. I, personally, have found the staff at this office to be police and curtious. Most appointments are on time or at most 10 minutes late (depending on when during the day your appointment is I suppose- most of mine in the AM). I do get the impression that they (the Dr.'s) are VERY tight with their prescriptions, they keep good records and make sure that enough time should have passed in order to write you another prescription. Regarding refills, my experience has been 1 for 2. Once I called the office and left a v/m and they called it in right away, another time I called it in and they took more than 4 days to call it in. Pros: Dr. does listen carefully and take good notes. Makes sure what he prescribes will not have adverse affects with anything else you are taking. Cons: Kind of hard to find the office. Leaving a voice mail for a refill can be delayed. more

North Raleigh Psychiatry - best one in town 5/3/2007

I would just like to say that the doctor that I see (Dr. Clapacs) is highly professional, caring, sincere, and generally concerned about your total welfare. He maintains eye contact, listens very intently, asks questions where clarification or more information is needed, and makes his assessment afterwards. He always answers any and all questions or concerns that you may have, and he explains his assessment and/or opinion to you completely until you understand it fully. He explains his thught process about your medication and then any changes to it that he is going to make and why he is making these changes and choices in medicine. The office staff has always been extremely kind, professional, and friendly to me whenever I've been there - they have also been very helpful whenever I had a question, concern, or needed something. I would highly recommend this practice and place of business to anyone in need of assistance. Pros: professional, friendly, caring, sincere, generally concerned of total welfare more

North Raleigh Psychiatry Rating 2/8/2007

I would first like to state that the Doctor I saw at NRP (Dr. Clapacs) was very professional and courteous. I I would definitely recommend seeing him, however only if he moves to another practice. I, like the other review listed, found the reception staff to be very impersonal and at times VERY rude. The act snobby, talk down to the patients and if you miss an appointment due to miscommunication, they talk to you like you're stupid or beneath them. They act irritated if you have a request. Because of this, I am finding a new doctor. I wonder if the Doctors in the practice realize how they are being represented by the women working in the office? Pros: The doctors are wonderful. Very educated and truly concerned about each patient. Cons: Very rude office staff. more

rude receptionist 2/16/2006

The receptionist was impersonal and terse, which made me reluctant to pursue an appointment. more
