Best

Food was amazing!!@

Worst

The chicken pieces were too big, and not evenly cooked.

Editorial review from GrubHub 9/23/2013

The food was great. The prices were very expensive compared to other Indian restaurants. $4 for naan! The delivery took longer than the expected 1hr 15 minute time also. \r I really like grubhub but the delivery times are crazy long. more

AWFUL!! HOW DO PLACES LIKE THIS STAY IN BUSINESS?? 2/11/2010

As I looked over other reviews written on this site for Chutney's I am amazed that they are either excellent or poor. No in between. Cons: Dirty, Slow service, Below average Indian food more

Great food but the service could be better 8/21/2009

I am a regular at Chutneys and I absolutely love the food. The service is a little slow at times but the food is definitely worth it. The Burg Mahar is fantastic and I love how you can order it customized to the level of hotness you want. Pros: Customize the level of spice in your dishes Cons: Service is slow more

decent food bad service 8/12/2009

The food was ok, no real complaints there. The waiter was aloof and inattentive. I ordered vindaloo which is a curry. In most restaurants you go to a curry comes with rice with no extra charge since the curry itself is just a sauce. At Chutneys I was brought a side of rice (a small side of rice at that), no problem there until my bill arrived. $2 for the rice. It was not mentioned anywhere on the menu that rice was extra nor was I asked if I wanted rice along with the meal. Bottom line, the service is terrible, see the other reviews, I'm not the only one that feels this way. Go to other restaurants in the Eastside, their food is just as good and they actually appreciate your business. Pros: decent vindaloo Cons: service more

MY CHOICE FOR RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR 7/30/2009

Had a satisfying meal in a classy restaurant after a long time .The attentive service ,the food and ambiance were a class act.,despite being short staffed, everything was so lovely. Pros: the staff ,simply adorable. Cons: Short of wait staff. more

truly ,a fantastic evening. 6/21/2009

Excellent food, just right as far as the spices went.Good recomendations by Glen the manager, who went out of his way to prepare a special menu for us despite being very busy, found the time to ensure everything was spot on.My director was very impressed, even offered him a job in our company with better wagesand terms, but he politely declined saying he was very happy where he was. Pros: SERVICE Cons: None really more

SIMPLY SUPERB 6/18/2009

Delightful place ,good food, with an out of the world service experience. No request seemed too much for Glenn, the incharge and Raju, the chef .Generous portions too.Would rate this the best indian restaurant in Washington. Pros: High quality Service ,Ambiance Cons: Music a tad bit too loud more

Good Indian food, slow service 6/15/2009

I've been to Chutney's many times, both to dine-in and for take-out at dinner time. The decor is simple but nice. The food is usually very good, my favorites are Chickpea Veggie Fritters (they are like pakoras but more flavored, mmm!) and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Tandoori Chicken and the roast lamb are usually good too. The Saag Paneer (spinach and paneer cheese) is somewhat bland. Pros: Good food that can be ordered mild Cons: Slow service more

Mouth-watering Indian Food 4/30/2009

Love this spot, the owner is a little strange, but the food is to die for. Delicious butter chicken, fresh naan and samosas that pop! Love it! Pros: Best Butter Chicken in town Cons: Not cheap, but not expensive, average price more

Great place for lunch! 4/15/2009

The eclectic mix of flavors and assortment of Vegetarian food makes this restaurant one of my favorite lunch spots! Quick and attentive service. Pros: Vegetarian Food and Great Service more

Great service 3/27/2009

Wonderful service and food ,had a wonderful time here .The manager Gen took great care of us and made us feel special. We were a big group on a weekend yet we were given all the attantion and treatment you would get in a five star restaurant. The food was lovely too.Just right as far as the spice was concerned. Pros: Service ,ambience more

Fancy name not worth a second visit! 1/9/2009

I went for lunch with some colleagues and ordered a few appetizers before deciding on our entrees. They did arrive on time but were more greasy and bland than my 27-yr old Indian palate could accept! I refused to order lunch and just waited until my friends finished. I even spoke to the manager about how nearly-inedible the ""mirchi"" (our appetizer) was and he said, ""Really? I just had a few of those in the kitchen and they were really good!"" Pros: Only Indian restaurant in downtown Bellevue Cons: Terrible food more

Worst Service. Period. 11/7/2008

On October 29, 2008 we went to Chutney's in Bellevue to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were a party of 7 including 2 kids. There was one waiter at the time and it took around 10 minutes to get us a table (the restaurant was half-empty). Next it took us another 20 minutes to get the waiter's attention to put our order. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the waiter(s) are SO busy that you've to wave your hands and do other antics to get their attention ? That's exactly what we had to do. The food arrived rather quickly and was fine (maybe our expectations got lowered after the ordering ordeal that anything normal felt good). We're now ready to leave and the waiter got us a check with 18% gratuity added automatically. I called the waiter and showed him that in the menu it was mentioned that a gratuity of 15% will be added for parties of 8 and more. His response was it's an old menu and that section was now modified to be party of 6 and more (not to mention about the change in percentage). IMHO, THIS WAS JUST OUTRIGHT LOOTING, ON TOP OF WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I told the waiter we may have to report to Better Business Pros: ambience Cons: customer service more

Worst service and food 10/8/2008

I travel alot and been to indian restaurants over the US... Yesterday I was looking for somewhere I can have a good veg. meal therefore figured I would try an indian. Got there a little before closing and the service was rude and the food was not worth it. I was looking for a nice quality place and this was not the one. Would not recommend... try somewhere else. Pros: Parking, open till 10pm Cons: everything else more

Horrible is right - both in service and food 9/8/2008

I must agree with the last two reviewers - this place is horrible and not worth your money. For the lunch buffet today, I waited 10 minutes to be seated. Then as a single diner was completely ignored by the older gentleman who seemed to be the head waiter. I had to ask THREE times for naan, while the table of men next to me who sat down after I did were give their's promptly. Literrally, 20 minutes after I sat down - I finally got a basket. Cons: Food, Service - the whole nine yards - terrible more

Bottom line: HORRIBLE. 3/2/2008

So, you walk in and have to stand there for awhile before you even get seated. We watched the staff hang out and talk in the corner for 5 mins before anyone came over to seat us. (the room at that point only had 2-3 tables full) No apology and the guy who sat us had the worst B.O. (NOT very appetizing) Then we wait even longer to get our order taken by our waiter. My particular meal I ordered Medium (3 stars). Our meal finally came after 30mins or so and mine was SO hot I could barely eat it. I like hot food but this was intense. I wanted to have it taken back but knew it would take another 30mins for a new portion to arrive so I decided against it. Once our food came we were promptly forgotten about. We couldn't get the check-I tried waving one of the waiters over but they refused to come. Finally, I asked the busser to get our check. Later that night my husband got sick, and I got sick the next morning. I am a serious foodie and I highly recommend that you never go to this restaurant. Worst service I have ever received in my life, and the food was DEFINITELY not worth it-especially when it makes you ill. Pros: Parking garage next door Cons: incredibly poor service, poor attitudes with staff, food made us ill more
