Wow! 1/27/2010

I went to CH after shoulder surgery last year. My shoulder was killing me. Katie helped me learn how to use my shoulder in ways I didn't think were possible and as a result, I didn't need my pain pills in less time than my doctor thought. I really appreciated how accommodating Katie was to my work schedule, because if she wasn't, I wouldn't have been able to do PT. The only problem was the temperature sometimes, which was kinda cold. Overall, however, this is the best PT facility I have ever been to. Pros: Accommodating, professional, great environment Cons: Cold sometimes more

Excellent for Auto Accident PT 9/3/2009

My wife, adult son and myself were in an auto accident. We received excellent care and skill knowledge as to how to help with the therapy. All suggestions and actual therapy with Colin, owner, was excellent! His pushes you beyond what you think you can do and that makes a positive difference. I highly reommend this skilled man who understands the body and how to repair it after a traumatic accident! Edmund Bouschor, Portland Pros: PT Owner and Therapist Colin was amazing & skilled ! more

CH fixed my knee 3/3/2009

I had ACL reconstructed surgery on my right knee last summer and my doctor referred me to CH for rehab. What I appreciated most about this clinic is how attentive the physical therapists are to me during my appointments. I had physical therapy before coming to CH and it was unimpressive in this regard. The CH front office does need a little work, as they sometimes seemed disorganized when scheduling appointments. Overall, though, this clinic has the best rehab in town. Pros: Attentive, professional physical therapists, effective rehab Cons: office staff inconsistencies (nice, just clueless at times) more

Tough PT but worth my time 2/4/2009

I had been to several PT's for my elbow problem with little to no success. Whe I met Colin 2 years ago at his Pearl location it was obvious this company does not do ""normal"" physical therapy, which peaked my interest. The insurance coverage was great so I had my doctor refer me for physical therapy. In 2 months I had almost full motion with my elbow and almost no pain which shocked me. The entire staff at C.H. was always helpful and kind. I highly recommend them. Pros: Great physical therapy, attentive office staff, ambience more

Physical Therapy that Exceeds Expectations 1/14/2009

This physical therapy is quite different from any I've done before. \r The combination of stretches, cardiovasular, and resistance exercise training, taught with emphasis on joint protection, has allowed me to physically do things I could not do comfortably before. For example, I removed over 1 ft. of snow from a 24 ft. x 30 ft. flat roof and did not experience lower back pain and stiffness. \r They have given me tools that I can continue to use to stay physically active and relatively pain free and protect my joints at the same time. \r I like the fact that there are 3 locations and that the therapy is the same at each location. more

Robbie is the best! 1/7/2009

My headline says it all! I've never had successful physical therapy before until I saw Robbie at the Beaverton clinic. My shoulder was completely broken for the last 4 years and nothing helped. The exercises I learned at CH helped me work out again like I used to but without all the pain and Robbie's also really knowedgeable about how to do them so that I know WHY to do them in such a way. My doctor was amazed at my progress and he raves about them like I do. Go to CH if you want the best! Pros: Great physical therapy with a sense of humor, parking is plentiful more

Recommend C.H. for seniors 1/3/2009

C.H. physical therapists are top notch! At 81 years old and feeling every year of it, the therapists at C.H. helped me improve my balance so that I can walk with my cane again without being scared of falling. It was very hard work but my doctor told me it would be because that's C.H.'s reputation. Insurance coverage was also very good and the front office secretaries helped make sure that my treatment sessions were all covered. I give C.H. my highest recommendation for helping seniors get better! more

Feeling much better thanks to CH 12/31/2008

Finally, after 4 months of physical therapy at CH, I'm able to sleep again. My orthopedic surgeon referred me to CH after a horrible car acident 2 years ago. I could hardly turn my neck without serious pain for months. The thought of lifting weights to get better scared me to death but Colin showed me how so that I could recover as quickly as possible. I think the best thing for me was the combination of physical therapy at CH and adjustments by my chiropractor, and I really appreciated Colin's willingness to work with my chiropractor to make sure my treatments worked together instead of against each other. Colin also helped me eat better and loose 17 pounds during the course of physical therapy. It was amazing to me how much better I felt going to physical therapy just by changing a few things around in my food habits and sleeping has never been better. I give CH my highest recommenedation!! Pros: Best physical therapy in Portland Cons: Scheduling sometimes is difficult more

Wish I would've known about CH sooner! 12/31/2008

After having physical therapy twice for my ankle and foot with little results, I found out about this clinic by watching ""The Fitness Show"" on PBS. My email was responded to promptly by Colin (much appreciated!) and I got a referral by my chiropracter. What struck me most about CH is it's attention to detail with my exercises as they don't let you get away with doing ANYTHING wrong! Everything they had me do was well worth my time and energy and I simply cannot believe how much better my ankle feels! My only complaint is that I wish I would've known about CH sooner so I could have saved all that time and money wasted on lousy physical therapy. The office staff is also first rate and always helpful, but parking can be an issue when going to the pearl location. Pros: Meticulous technique with exercises, nice staff, great equipment, atmosphere Cons: parking (sometimes) more

alot of problems 12/16/2008

I've only been to CH a few months: My shoulder and neck are definitely feeling better. There seems to be alot of staff turnaround, for the clinic itself being so nice I can't understand why there staff is so unstable. My biggest concern is how well the owner Colin Hoobler actually screens his staff or takes the time out to get a criminal background check, considering his new office manager is a convicted felon. I had my physical therapist ask me if I would actually refer anyone, I told him ""no"", to many faces, I wanted only one physical therapist and ended up seeing more than two, I also had problems with my bills, I've had quite a number of friends and business partners who have needed physical therapy; CH would not be the place to send them. Thank you Andre and Robi for doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work. Pros: physical therapists are very nice and attentive Cons: staff problems, not consistent with patients more

Pain Free & Loving It 12/11/2008

The best thing my husband and I ever did for ourselves was to start streghtening exercises to alleviate some of the chronic pain we tolerated everyday. Robert Fleming (Tanasbourne Clinic) and the orthopedic doctors cured my husband of his chronic knee pain. For the last 20+ years every time he started an exercise program his right knee would swell and be so painful he either used crutches or a cane to get around. Now, he looks forward to our walks in Portland. For myself, I've tolerated shoulder/neck and hamstring pain for most of my life. Lately, it got to the point where I wasn't able to enjoy my hobbies, photography and computer graphics. With every visit to see Robi, my pain decreased until today I am able to once again enjoy my hobbies. Pros: Patient, methodical & caring Cons: Only available in Portland & the Metro Area more

Outstanding Physical Therapist 12/10/2008

\r \r Colin Hoobler is nothing short of a miracle worker. He has worked for the past several months with my 87 year old MIL. She could hardly get out of the car and suffered from multiple pains. She also was dizzy most of the time. Working hand in glove with a neurologist, Colin has transformed her into a mobile senior citizen. She can get around without a walker most of the time now. Previously, she was hard pressed to get up one step. Now she can walk right up a whole flight of steps and can get back down without assistance. This progress can be directly tied to Colin's patience and professionalism, combined with an infectious sense of humor that keeps my MIL relaxed and focused on the road to better health. Pros: Unbelievably patient with senior citizens Cons: Doesn't have a clone more

Great Therapy 11/25/2008

Physical therapy was great but the office manager short with dark hair was rude and I didnt appreciate her attitude. I almost didnt want to return because she was snotty and sarcastic which didnt seem pleasant. I would recommend CH for Physical Therapy because they do work wonders but maybe a different location than the Pearl because anyone who has to deal with their office manager is sure to have a bad morning. Pros: Physical Therapists Cons: Office Manager more

Wonderful place for PT 11/17/2008

My doctor sent me to CH because I kept falling all the time. She told me that if I did not get some help with my balance that I would likely hurt my hip and need surgery. This scared me, so I finally got motivated to go to PT and I am so glad I did. I got the best therapist in the business, Colin Hoobler. He was kind but pushed me to improve at every appointment. At 84 years old, I never realized that I could exercise and get better without pain. I'm so much better with my balance now and can walk with my cohorts at home. I'll always be indebted to Colin for his help. Pros: Wonderful therapist, good insurance coverage, front office is very nice Cons: A little far from my home more

C.H. saved my shoulder 10/13/2008

I dislocated my shoulder snow skiing this past year and was told by a doctor that I'd have to be immobilized for 3 months followed by 6 months of rehab. Not wanting to believe this, I called C.H. and got an entirely different opinion from Colin, who told me to start PT immediately but carefully. 4 months later and I'm able to do all my sports that I want to (rock climbing, water skiing) and stronger than I was BEFORE I was injured. I'm so thankful to Colin and Scott for helping me recover so quickly and effectively, and now I know how to exercise safely to prevent future problems. Want the best PT? Go to C.H.! Pros: Great PT's, pushed me to get better, helped me eat better Cons: Parking is a pain sometimes more

A great place to jump-start your life 9/22/2008

I am much stronger and have more energy than when I started 3 months ago. I was often tired after the workouts but never sore the next day. Scott really understood my goals, which were to be 6o years old able to walk and hike and bike, and not be exhausted by my grandchildren. more

CH is #1 9/15/2008

I had knee pain and swelling for almost 7 years before being referred to CH by my chiropractor. It was kind of a surprise to me to have my chiropractor refer me to PT, because I always thought chiropractors and PT's don't get along. But she told me that CH offers a 'very different' therapy service and that I should give it a try. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!! Robbie was great from start to finish and always kept me interested and made it fun to exercise. My knee stopped hurting after 4 months and I can jog and play with my dog again. My chiropractor (who I still see) swears by CH and now so do I. Nothing but complements for a great company. Pros: Fun, smart physical therapist, parking is easy, energetic environment more

The best physical therapy I have ever had 9/1/2008

I have been to many physical therapists in the past for a variety of reasons. After suffering a ruptured disk in my neck from a car accident I needed surgery to alleviate the constant pain. After the surgery I was still a little weak in one arm and had some tingling in my neck. I went to CH physical therapy because they were conveniently located and took my insurance. I am really glad I did. Andre had me lift weights and stretch to fix my weakness and discomfort. I was dubious at first but within two weeks I was seeing improvement. After a month I could go a week before I would experience greatly reduced symptoms. After two and a half months I am completely back to normal and have a great strengthening program I can use on my own. Andre's knowledge and experience helped me get my life back. I am grateful for finding and using CH physical therapy. Pros: Knowledgeable staff and treatment that really works more

Shoulder finally works 8/24/2008

I hurt my shoulder playing tennis last year and was told by my doctor at the time I would need surgery to fix it. There was no way I could do this because of insurance reasons so I went to C.H. for a 2nd opinion and found out there are excercises I can do instead of surgery. After working with a couple different therapist's, (Collin is the BEST!), for 3 months I am finally able to play tennis again without pain. This place is the best! Pros: BEST therapist's, equipment more

Pain Free Thanks To C.H. Physical Therapy 8/8/2008

I am so grateful I was referred by my internist to CHPT for help with nagging lower back pain that had plagued me since childhood. I wasn't able to fully enjoy any activity (walking, running, bike riding, weight lifting, even yoga...) without significant discomfort. \r Thanks to Colin, I am now pain free and in the best shape of my life. Once I had completed the prescribed pt sessions, I continued to train with Colin and his exceptional staff and have reached fitness goals I never thought possible. I really appreciate that I have been taught not just the ""how"" of exercise, but the science of ""why"". Colin's workouts and dietary guidelines are based on solid medical research, not the latest fad or book of the month. \r Sessions with any of the highly qualified therapists at C.H.P.T. are the greatest gift you can give yourself - I'm Hooked! more
