We bought my ford from them and it literally took 2 days to do the deal. Most of it was sitting around the dealership waiting on them to do their own paperwork!

I just purchase my 2010 Ford Flex from Cavalier, and had nothing but a good experience. The salesman, James Young was professional, courteous and answered all of our questions. He was not the typical pushy salesman, which is what led us to purchase from him. \r \r The entire sales process was quick and efficient, with all of our options laid out ahead of time. We purchased the vehicle with the A plan without any problems whatsoever. I have referred several of my friends to this dealership for their future vehicle purchases, and will continue to be a Cavalier Ford customer for life. Thanks, James & Cavalier! more

AXZ Plan Customers Beware 12/23/2008

Don't be misled! They advertise free oil changes and state inspections for life. They never tell you until they are sure you are ready to close the deal that they cannot do it for Plan Customers because Ford Motor Company has a policy against it. I called Ford Customer Service and was told there is no such policy. I even called other dealerships with similar programs and was told they do not know of any such policy. more

Deception and Misrepresentation 12/22/2008

A manager at Cavalier Ford Portsmouth made an offer on my trade on Sunday only to have the salesperson try to rescind it on Monday. They promised me state inspections and oil changes for free only to tell me right before we closed the deal that as a program customer, I am not eligible. They said it was the first day of the promotion and they did not realize that. The finance guy wasted my time and was unprofessional. He would not stop trying to get me to purchase one of their so called protection plans saying it would only bump my payment 3-5 dollars per month. He never would disclose the actual cost. He never showed me anything that looked official in writing. He just kept scribbling figures down on a blank piece of paper. When I finally convinced him that I was not interested in it we closed the deal with payments around 30 dollars below what he was trying to sell me. I bought from them once. I love my new car, but unless their new dealership brings personnel changes, never more

Repair of 2000 F150 10/16/2008

I have owned Fords most of my life but my experience with the Service Department of this Dealership has by far been my worst experience. Took truck in for Engine knock. They cleaned my fuel system, new fuel filter and recommended oil change for $642.18. Still have the knock. They said fuel system working too hard causing knock that what they were going to do should solve my problem. It did not and now they will not respond to my inquiries. Ford Motor Company also will not assist. The Customer Relations Manager will not respond nor the General Manager. more

bad customer service 9/7/2008

i traded in my car for a 2008 used Mitsubishi eclipse, after waiting for hours to get the paper work done the contract was signed at the end of the day and the deal was done. After a few weeks, i received a phone call from the dealer and told me to come by at their office because i forgot to sign some papers and that's what my husband and i did. We were told that the bank who's financing the vehicle changed the rate and wanted a down payment of 1500. Of course we said no and told them the contract was signed and it was final. After we talked to several people persuading us to take the deal. We decided to take back my old car and give them their vehicle. We waited for hours again because they can't find my old car. We will never go back to this dealership and will tell friends, family and acquaintances so they will not have the same experience. Doing business with this people was a waste of time... more

Stay Away! 7/25/2008

The service department here is awful! It took them three days to do a job that could have easily been done in a day. At the end of each day I was told they didn't get a chance to look at it, to come back tomorrow. All this after I was told it would be done the first day! Then, they charged me for unnecessary work. I myself am a mechanic by trade and I called them on this. When I asked them why this work was conducted, the service manager himself could not give me an answer as to why. He would not let me get a word in edgewise, and after shouting back and forth for about 5 minutes I decided to just cut my losses, pay the bill, and never return. more

This is the absolutely worst Ford dealer I've ever dealt with. We've owned a Ford for years, but our experience with this service dept has convinced us to buy another brand. Service is slow, service reps are rude, and they always "find" other problems when vehicle is in for routine oil changes, etc. Other locals have agreed that this is one place to STAY AWAY from. more

Why did I like this business? 9/20/2005

Cavalier Ford was always where I went to buy my cars...until they gave me the run around. Actually I will go back because one bad experience can't ruin it. I made my first payment on a car that I didn't even get until almost 2 months after it should have been in. The salespeople & service department has always been wonderful. PROS: Great location, nice people CONS: Can't let the one bad experience ruin it more
