Note to Isabella:\r I would venture to guess that your problems with Western Career College did not lie in the curriculum or with the instructors. You very obviously do not have...

Worst

I think this was the worst $17,000 I have spent. I took the medical assisting class and I had 3 differnet teachers. They couldnt even give us the same teacher for all our classes....

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/5/2012

I attended Western Career College back when it was Silicon Valley College one year 10months later (Mind you I communted 1 1/2 hours to and from class I live in the central valley) I took the CMA course worse mistake of my life. I was so excited and stoked for graduation coming around and bobm shell news after grad, I'm not bilingual as most medical prefessionals want their MA's to be. so long story short I have not yet persued a career in this field and owe somewhere around 22k in college tuition. I should have gone to a Community college and benefited more from my cariculum and training. heart broken bitter former student. more

Note to Isabella:\r I would venture to guess that your problems with Western Career College did not lie in the curriculum or with the instructors. You very obviously do not have even the smallest grasp of the English Language or how to properly write.\r There were so many spelling, grammatical, tense, and structure problems with your little diatribe it is no wonder you were not successful. If you cannot even make an effort to "appear" intelligent I am afraid you will be unsuccessful in all of your career endeavors. more

HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! 5/22/2010

I think this was the worst $17,000 I have spent. I took the medical assisting class and I had 3 differnet teachers. They couldnt even give us the same teacher for all our classes. They give you 6 week for each class and after the 6 weeks they move on to something else and you dont practice what you already learned so its not consistant. The teachers we not helpfull eaither. When I asked for help I had to wait till they had time to help witch was a lil to late to be of any help. I would not recomend going to this school. They dont give you whats necessary to be a great medical assistant. They don't help yuou at all with job placement. Its like your done with school and you are no better off then you were before going to school. Before I was even done with medical assisting the counslers was trying to get me to enroll in another class. I was not even interested but they try to push you into it. They say you wont have to pay you school loans back until you are done with the new class. The more

Best Decision of My Life 4/10/2010

I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Western Career College. I am 36 years old and a single mother with very little help. I am a former retail business owner of 10+ years. When the economy crashed in 2007/08, I was forced to close my businesses and find another path in life. I had always been financially secure and never thought I would have to make such a drastic career change. It was my 10 year old daughter that told me that I should try to do what I'd always dreamed of when I was a little girl and that was to take care of animals. I didn't think it was possible at my age to basically start all over in life. \r \r The "You can do it!" slogan hit home one day and I made the call just to inquire. Alya, the representative that helped me that day was amazing. She was caring and sympathetic to my situation. She gave me scenarios in which I could chart out my new career. It was her incredible energy that drew me in further and gave me the confidence to move forwa more

A++ would attend again 4/9/2010

So I've attended to 2 different community colleges, one for random meaningless classes and the other to get my Emergency Medical Technician cert. Now I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician course at WCC San Jose working towards that as well as getting my associates at the same time. And yeah, the price may dissuade you from attending, but think about it...At community colleges the classes are cheaper ($20-$200 or so) but then add up the cost of uniforms, books, supplies, etc and also to get both an associates AND a degree in whatever you may be studying, you're looking at a pretty high price and it takes years to accomplish your goal. At WCC all thats included! Scrubs and books for every class are covered and you'll be getting GE and a degree in whichever field you may be going into. And it's a one time type cost, not like pay each time for each course, it's all laid out for you there at the very beginning. Not to mention it takes a LOT less time to achieve your goal at W more

No, really, you can totally do it! 4/9/2010

Not to mention it takes a LOT less time to achieve your goal at WCC than at any other school. And if you took GE classes somewhere else, your credits are transferable! Then there's the staff... Everyone there, even if they aren't your specific instructors or administrators, are always there with an open mind and open door and are ready and willing to assist you in any way they can. I'm not sure about the other programs but I know for sure that the VT program, all its instructors and all the resources are at your disposal and greatly prepare you for your future career. It's a friendly atmosphere and like I mentioned before I'm not sure about other programs but the instructors make it a fun and educational environment. They have the ability to balance being an authority figure and an educator with being a normal human being that has gone through the same exact situations you're going through, and help relate the subject matter in a way you can understand and utilize the information and put it into practice. If you can't understand a subject there are different ways they will attempt to teach it in order to make it easier for you. I could've gone to Foothill and gotten my VT cert, spent a ton of money and time, achieved less, and wouldn't be happy about actually going to school and learning. I'm happy a friend told me about WCC, because now I'm doing what I want with my life and it's not only easy, but fun! I totally recommend WCC to my friends and to all of you who may read this. Pros: Friendly staff, nice environment, great education Cons: none come to mind more

You really can do it! 3/2/2010

I recently joined the Dental Assisting program starting Jan. 25th and have been loving it ever since. Everyone was very helpful and patient from the start and walked me through the admissions and financial ad processes. Even when I asked a ton of stupid questions. It is expensive (nearly $19k for me) and the parking is not in great shape at this location (limited spaces), but I still love it. This is my first time back to college in 6 years. I badly needed a career change and this is the best place to do it, especially if you are looking to get into the medical field. Most of the programs are under one year in length so a lot tends to get crammed in. The way they teach the classes really helps it stick and it is not boring. I would highly suggest this school to anyone who wants to advance their career or get into a new field. Just a warning though, this is really only for people who are willing and want to better themselves. If you don't, then you will get left in the dust very fast! Pros: Very thorough and helpful! Cons: Like any good school: Expensive and limited parking more
