Great Staff and Doctors! 7/28/2011

Love the staff and Doctors here, they've always taken great care of my pets. I can always count on them to be there if I need them or have an emergancy. A few years ago I found a Boxer pup near my house, It was after 12 o'clock on a Saturday but when I called and explained the situation they caame and opened the office. unfornately the little guy didn't make it, but they did everything possible for the poor pup. That isn't the kinda of service you get from just anyone these days. more

Nice Visit 7/28/2011

Had a good experience here...not over-the-top, but certainly pleasant, and very educating. The staff seem very professional, and interested in sharing information with me. At my previous office (also local), the medical knowledge seemed to be withheld a little...not sure if they thought I was not smart enough to understand! lol But that is not the case here...they even offered to help me find good information online, which most medical people seem to back away if you tell them you look online for anything, which was nice. My cat seemed comfortable there. more

My dogs love it here 7/26/2011

Not sure why some of these reviews say this office is expensive! The exams are actually a little cheaper than other places I tried here in Myrtle Beach! Also, I have never waited longer than 10 minutes to get into a room to be seen. They are professional and (usually) on time, unless an there has been an emergency. Everyone seems happy to see us when we come in, and know my dogs by name, and that is worth a lot! Happy to have options other than a corporate-owned veterinary clinic! more

declining service, climbing prices 4/13/2011

Been going there a long time, and finally just couldn't continue to justify paying SO much more for mediocre service. I agree that the quality of the service has declined over the years, while the prices seem to continue to climb. Wrong business model in my mind. Much, much happier with a new vet, even though it's a longer drive. Well worth changing. more

Mr. Smith 3/23/2011

when this business first opened they were quite good , but I have noticed as the years have gone by things have drastically changed. I have three dogs that have been cared for there over the years, but I am now going to a new vet. Routine visits...ok. Knowledge of vets.....good. But people skills, front desk, and communication with vets........not good at all. The level if service and satisfaction is indigent on which vet is there on any given day. Unfortunately, the vets there are not all equal and that us unfortunate. I do not know how many are on staff at the current time, but who you see WILL make a difference. Perhaps that is why some people rate them as excellent and others as unsatisfactory. However, consistancy in quality of care is just as important. Who knows what day your pet may become ill and which vet will be in duty? Several bad experiences made me go elsewhere! Many there seem to have have lost true compassion for the animals and lack kindness. If your visit more

Not the right place to go. Felt that most everyone were highly marginal products of the domestic public school system. more

Pros: Doctors, Cons: Staff 8/9/2010

I've used them for two different medical issues my cat had. On the plus side, the two doctors I came in contact with seemed very knowledgeable and took the time to sit down and explain all about my cat's medical issues without trying to rush through anything. The place is very clean and my cat came through his ordeals fine with a bonus dental cleaning and claw trimming I didn't even think to ask for. \r \r On the minus side, most of the staff I came in contact with except for one seemed unfriendly and cold for no reason. They didn't like my cat's weight or his carrier, and chose to let me know by making cutesy babytalk at my cat... "Wow! Your mommy needs to pick better carriers!" What's wrong with saying "I'm concerned his carrier isn't appropriate"? Aren't we adults? I understand their job is stressful but the staff are noticeably warmer and kinder at every other vet office I've been to, so who knows what the deal is here.\r \r The doctors are worth it if you don't mind dealing with snipp more

Carolina Forest Veterinary Hospital is absolutely wonderful! 9/3/2009

Our family has two dogs and a cat. This is the second vet in Myrtle Beach that we have tried as we were extremely unhappy with the first. The staff here are friendly, helpful, caring and knowledgeable. While we were using our fist vet we had a puppy die of distemper. We never thought about the virus surviving in our home and decided to rescue a puppy from the pound. When we realized that this could be a serious issue we called our vet. 4 hours later, when we still hadn't heard whether it was safe to bring our new puppy home, we called CFVH. Not only did we get an answer within 15 minutes, but they actually faxed other information to us about other illnesses-just in case! We switched immediately. We will never need to look for another vet! more

wouldnt recommend 5/17/2009

I would not recommend taking your pets here. My cat had a baby in the middle of the night and from what i saw everything was fine until i went back to check on her and her one kitten at 7 in the morning. The kitten was not feeding from her and seem much weaker from a couple of hours ago. at that point i decided to take he to a vet. Carolina Forest vet was the closest to my house. by the time i got there it was 7:55 AM. the vet door said they open at 8 AM. I could see the staff in the door and they could see be but they would not come to the door. I held up the weak kitten asked please and all I got was we don't open til 8. I was outraged 5 mintues. til they opened and they couldn't let a new born kitten in early. It wasn't until i turned away to walk back to my car and leave until one lady opened the door and said fine come in with a attitude. I didn't go in. I ended up having to go find another vet and didn't end up seeing one til around 10 AM....my kitten died. As far as I'm concerne more

Both pets go here 11/4/2008

I absolutely love this vet! We bring both our dogs and have never had an issue. They will fit in anals and nails at any time I call. They are also very good at explaining things and calling to follow-up on how our dogs do after shots, etc... more

Thank God for Them 7/22/2008

My Dog Kissy is 13 years old and is part Shepard. She had been a little loafy lately so we took her there for her senior wellness check-up. Turns out her Thyroid is a little off. As I was worried (with her age and all), I was relieved to hear that it was something that could be easily cured. I know as I have NO Thyroid due to Thyroid Cancer. Kissy loves going there and they are Wonderful with her. Very Caring, inexpensive. I have been taking her there since they opened, and I can tell you that I will not take her anywhere else. My parents have a summer house here and even drive there pets here from New Jersey to see them. Excellent Service and Always make your pet feel calm and at ease there. more

Very accomodating Vets 7/10/2008

We moved here almost 4 years ago before this vet opened up. We took our 10 year old (at the time) dog to VCA on 501. They were horrible - they were never on time - we sat one time waiting for over 2 hours! So needless to say when Carolina Forest Vet opened, we were thrilled. Our dog who is now 14 was one of their first patients. They treat him so kind and we never have to wait long. I don't think their prices are out of line at all. Besides, he is worth every cent. I would highly recommed them. more

Wonderful service 7/10/2008

I take my teacup Yorkie to Carolina Forest Vet and love it. It's always clean, unlike some other vets around Myrtle Beach. The receptionists are polite and knowledgeable at the desk and on the phone. The vets are educated and seem up-to-date with their knowledge of meds. and conditions. I had gone to a different vet when I first got my puppy and the doc told me that he wasn't familiar with Yorkie's. That was for sure a turn off. The best thing about this vet is that I can call about my Yorkie's ears and 20 mins later I can pick up his meds (cheap) and everyone there looks like they enjoy their job. I would recommend them to everyone. more

Wonderful 6/20/2008

My husband and I have been using petsmart here in Myrtle Beach. Our puppy, Chance has medical problems, and petsmart never was very through with us, they would just put him on antibiotics. The very first time we brought him to Carolina Forest Vet they knew what was wrong with him. We will never go anywhere else as long as we live in Myrtle Beach. I honestly don't think they have very expensive prices, I think it's just the norm. We have since taken our new puppy Skyler there, and he recovered from his neuter so fast, and they always call to make sure your pets are ok the next day! They are great more

Little Confused On "Expensive Comments" 5/14/2008

We moved here (Carolina Forest) 6 months ago and had been driving all the way to Petsmart for our Vet needs, and if anyone is expensive...It would be Petsmart plus the gas driving there...LOL We also purchased our new family member about 3 months ago, a Jack Russell and one evening I was cooking dinner to look down by my feet and see our baby having a seizure. I immediately jumped on the phone to tell Petsmart I was on my way in with Kaili because we had both dogs on the care plan and they stated they were closing and could not take her. I was so ticked and called my friend to see where I could take her and she told me about Carolina Forest Vet. She called for me and they also stated they were closing but she said I was on my way and if they could please help me. I got there in a matter of minutes and they were all so helpful calming me down and stayed well after closing time with us. I ended up transferring all of our dogs and cat records to this vet and cancel my wellness plan with P more

a little pricey, but worth while 5/8/2008

I took my 4 month old kitten in for surgery on Monday, after having her examined by dr. Teague on the prior Tuesday. The office is immactulate and all of the staff; from the receptionists, to the techs, to the vets themselves are extremely professional and friendly, and they all demonstrated a genuine interest in LuLu. Before her surgery the vet spent about 20 minutes with me explaining exactly what she was going to do, from the fecal exam and FeLV booster (required for overnight stay,) to the actual surgery, to the medications she'd be giving her afterwards. I left her there Monday morning, and several hours later the vet called back to let me know LuLu was recovering well and that I could pick her up Wednesday. The staff was more than happy to check on LuLu every time I called to see how she was doing. I picked her up Wednesday morning, and the tech spent about half an hour with me showing me how to take care of her stitches and exactly when and how to administer the 3 meds she' more

outrageous prices for outdated equipment, but the vet herself is great. 5/5/2008

I took my cat in several months ago to be de-clawed because she walks with all of her paws splayed, I was told the cost would be 250.00 (which is 130 dollars more than the vet in my hometown charges), since this was a necessity, and I liked the staff and the facilities, I agreed to have it done there. I brought my cat in, and was told that she'd have to have another examination on top of that to be sure she was healthy first, which totalled another 30 dollars, again, I paid, as I didn't think that was an unreasonable request (even though I believe that that should have been included in the price of the de-claw.) When I dropped my kitty off for her surgery, I signed all the forms, and then was told, as I was on my way to work that even though she had had her FeLV shot exactly one month ago, that to board her for the two days required I had to pay 40 MORE dollars for another FeLV booster and a fecal examination. At this point we are up to 335.00 for a bill that was supposed to be 250. more

Great new Local Vet! 10/15/2005

This vet is great because it is very convenient (located in Carolina Forest) and is considerably cheaper than the chain vet located near Conway Hospital. Because it is brand new, the services offered are wonderful, and the best part is that the whole office doesn't smell like animals! It smells like a normal office, and has always been very clean. You can feel very confident in taking your animals here. PROS: Great: local, new, and cheap CONS: - more
