i am a normal guy who was looking to get his haircut at the last minute. I called Capristos and they said Dana could take me that day bc she had just had a cancellation. Great. Well what i had no idea was that i would like it so much there. Not only was my haircut great but she was hilarious. I could tell she was confident in her skills so i really just left it up to her. The outcome was great, alot more people have complimented my hair since seeing Dana (even the guys at the work...they never did before). She really knew what looked best and what i could handle with at home maintenance. I truly have a fun time when i go to see her and it makes having my haircut less dreadful. So to all of you Pittsburghers out there, Call Capristos and ask for Dana....you wont regret it! P.S. i think it was a fluke that she had an appointment available that same day on a saturday so make sure you call ahead of time bc since then i have had a lil trouble with last minute appointments. Sadly, the stylist who used to do my waxing decided to move on in her career. So, I had to look for a new salon and a new person to do my waxing. I was recommended by a friend to try out Capristo. When I arrived for my appointment, the staff was great...very attentive...they took me right away. Lydia was amazing. She took her time and talked to me about what she was going to do. She didn't just go at it. (I'm very picky when it comes to my eyebrows, especially, and she definitely took that into consideration.) We talked, she made me feel comfortable, and above all, she did an excellent job. I will definitely be back...already made my next appointment. I can't wait to try out Capristo's other services!!! I recently received the best massage I have ever had from Eileen. I have been all over the world and gotten a massage during each of my travels. I can tell you that Eileen gave me the best massage of all. I had a deep tissue massage. The three nights post massage were the best sleep I have had in ages! Thank you! The ache and numbness in my shoulder and hand are gone! You are a miracle worker! I will be back. I left the massage feeling peaceful and relaxed. The effects of this massage were lasting. Not like with most other massages, once you get up, it's over. The entire experience from the front desk to checking out was terrific, professional and warm. I've been going to Capristos for about two years. The owner, Roman, cuts my hair and I have Shelly wax my eyebrows. Roman does an excellent job and is also very entertaining. My eyebrows always look fabulous after Shelly does my eyebrows. Prices are very reasonable for Shadyside and there is no pretentiousness! A big plus. They treat everyone the same. Wednesday nights are free cosmo nights - they are delicious! Scheduling an appointment can sometimes be difficult as it seems as though they can't keep up with checking clients out and booking new ones. I am constantly on the road as a touring actor and am always on the look out for a good aesthetician. It's a little scary going into places I've never been... There are some sketchy salons and I've had some horrible waxing experiences. However, I went to Capristo Salon and had Shelly. She was absolutely amazing and very thorough. It was one of the best waxings I've ever had! She was very accommodating and precise, AND it wasn't unnecessarily painful (always a plus!) I have been looking for a new stylist in Pittsburgh, but have been reluctant to try out anyone new (my stylist is about an hour away.) A friend recommended Breanne and I decided to go for it. From the moment I sat down in her chair I felt really comfortable. She talked to me about what I was looking for, what my style routine consisted of, how often I wanted to have to get a hair cut and so on. I ended up with the cutest haircut I've ever had! Everyone I know has complimented me and I am so happy to actually LIKE my hair! I feel really confident that she'll continue help me with her expert advice - and can't wait to get back! more

I went to Shelly for a Brazilian wax after the salon I went to for years, suddenly closed. I did not know what to expect. I had a friend recommend Breanne to me and now that I've started going to her I would never go to anyone else in Pittsburgh. I have never, ever left her chair unhappy. She does an amazing job of listening to what I want and I LOVE the red color she puts on my hair. I never feel rushed, she takes her time, and she has a great personality, so it makes the time go by fast. She's so friendly, upbeat, and easy to talk to. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone. Lydia is THE very best for eyebrow waxing! I've tried lots of different places in the past but was never totally happy until a friend recommended Lydia. I've never had anyone shape my brows as beautifully as Lydia does. She always creates a really pretty shape, and I feel like my whole face looks brighter after going to Lydia. I can totally tell the difference in pictures of before I found Lydia and after. She's wonderful!! I've gone to waxers before who rush you in and out, but Lydia is very precise and spends a lot of time with you, trimming your brows, plucking stray hairs, and never leaving gooey wax all over your face. I have really sensitive skin but have had less redness and breakouts after going to Lydia than ever before, and I've even taken my little sister to have Lydia do her brows, too. She is so sweet and put my sister totally at ease. She has marvelous stories, and we always leave giggling and happy! Another nice thing - she's very low pressure and doesn't try to talk you into other services or buying products. Today was my first appointment with Breanne for a haircut. I walked out of the salon looking and feeling like a new girl! She gave me bangs..which look fantastic and really compliment my face. She suggested a direction in which to go with my hair without being pushy or acting snotty....and then explained to me why the haircut would work for me. She also gave me some tricks to style my hair, but didn't push tons of product on me. I actually loved the haircut from the minute she finished it, and that never happens. Usually I have to fuss with it a bit to get it the way I like it...not this time! Breanne is also super funny and nice, she made getting a haircut a fun experience My previous hairdresser moved to Virginia....and this picky girl will be going to Breanne from now on! I went to Shelly at Capristo after hearing about her amazing wax technique from two friends... I had to experience this for myself. Shelly was friendly, professional and priced fairly. She worked quickly and efficiently and made me feel comfortable. Her technique really minimized the discomfort. I have never experienced such a fast and simple brazilian wax. You have to experiene her to believe it. All you have to lose is some hair. I promise you will be blown away! PS. she does guys too! My girl wanted me to get a Brazilian wax, so she sent me to Shelly at Capristo. I was nervous and thought my girl was nuts, but after the experience it was not that bad. Getting a brazilian wax go to SHELLY. I have been wanting to try her out after I read her reviews, so I did and it is true what they say about her. She was professional, fast, and clean. Let me begin by saying that everyone at the salon is exceptionally friendly and professional. My frustration stems from the fact that I went into the salon with the intention of donating my hair. I have done this before and although I explained to the stylist what needed to be done - that the hair HAD to be cut dry (as indicated and explained on three different hair donation websites) - he did not seem to hear me. He asked his assistant to wash my hair and told me it would be fine. It is not. HOURS later, my thick hair is still completely soaked and unmailable. I tired to unbundle it so it could dry out, but to no avail. I fear that in my attempt to rebundle it, I'll be losing hair and will be unable to send the neat ponytail requested by all cancer websites. This donation was personally important to me, and I am frustrated that my stylist was not prepared to handle this and, as a result, my efforts may be for nothing. Not that I'll be crying over hair when some people have none, but I definitely feel disappointed and frustrated. Since he had not done this before - as evidenced by the fact that he tried to slather Morroccan Oil in my hair before I explained hair products are not permitted on donated hair - I wish he would have listened to me. Additionally, I truly dislike my haircut; however, that is completely beside the point and really not his fault since I gave no definitive specifics as to how I wanted the hair styled. Again, I know several people who have been throroughly pleased with their experience at this salon; this is an isolated experience. The friendly and professional atmosphere as well as the well-trained staff will undoubtedly ensure many more years of faithful clientele. more

I have been seeing Roman for 2 years now and he is nothing short of amazing and fantastic!! He is a master stylist. He creates cutting-edge haircuts and is known for his sleek styles. Women "in the know" keep Roman busy. Roman has an incredible eye for color and will create for each client a color that goes with their sense of style. He is up to date on all the latest hair designs and technology. My hair has never looked better than it does now and that's all thanks to Roman. My hair is a gorgeous head turning color. People rave about how natural it looks on me and the shine that it has. I would never have thought to color my hair, but Roman knew how amazing it would look and convinced me to do it. That's why he's an expert at what he does. As if this isn't enough, he has a super personality. He is so much fun to be around and you will love every minute that you spend in his chair. I went in feeling confident that Roman, the owner, would be a great person to have cut my hair seeing as how it was my first time visiting this salon. What a mistake that was! I have a hair style that any stylist should be able to cut. Roman, however, turned my hair style that I love and everyone loves on me into his own creation. He didn't ask me much about what I wanted, and didn't follow what I told him anyhow. He completely butchered the back of my hair and made a horrible transition to the front. I will be waiting months to get my hair back to where it should be. I have not cried about a haircut in over 15 years but I wanted to cry after this one. My husband is not to into hair, but he instantly noticed all the things that had gone wrong with this haircut. I can honestly say that my husband could have cut my hair better. I would highly recommend Kim at Capristo for highlights. I am extrememly picky about my highlights and I moved away from home and my normal colorist, and have tried 3 other colorists and none of them did *what I wanted.* Kim took the time to talk to me for a while prior to starting my color and encouraged me to point out what I liked and did not like- she listened carefully and then told me what she thought. It was very easy to talk to her. I have never gotten so many compliments before on the colors she used to highlight and low light my hair and I feel the colors she used really compliment my skin tone as well. more
