Capristo Salon

I chose this salon largely on the strength of its positive reviews. It was OK – I’ve been to better, I’ve been to worse. When the receptionist suggested Dana, who was mentioned in several good reviews, I was optimistic. Perhaps it was this unearned trust that set me up for such a great disappointment. I described what I wanted very clearly – just a trim, more or less – and can't see how she could possibly have been paying attention. My hair was somewhat overgrown when I walked in and I walked out knowing it would be several months until it got back to a suitable length. Couldn’t we have found a happy medium – a point where it’s just right? In addition to cutting it considerably shorter than I’d requested, she somehow managed to preserve the aspects of the original which I liked least, while the parts I loved ended up scattered about the floor. Taken on its own I wouldn’t necessarily say this was the worst haircut I’ve ever received (although it's not great), but it certainly has no place on my head. If you’re looking for a basic, run of the mill, cookie-cutter sort of style, Dana might be OK for you. However, if you have any sense of originality and wish to retain your individual look, you’d be better off going elsewhere. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that I’ve just returned home from this ordeal and am full of strange emotions. Some time has been allowed to intervene, yet I still feel depressed and humiliated whenever I see myself in a mirror or think about this experience. more

I have been getting my hair cut with Kim for 3 years now and she never disappoints. While her client my hair has ranged from short and buzzed to shoulder length and Kim always does a great job no matter what the style. Whenever we are changing the cut Kim listens to me and works with me to make sure she gets it just the way I want. I've had problems in the past with stylists not being able to give me a longer style that doesn't look like a woman's cut but Kim always gets it right. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great cut. Pros: Great location, friendly staff. more

Reading the reviews on citysearch for this salon, I decided to make an appt for a hair cut with one of the stylists with more than one positive review. I want to caution others that I did not receive a good hair cut and went to another place to get it fixed a week later as I felt the salon as well as the stylist weren't worth another gamble. Short layers were cut into the top of my head and not blended in with the bottom so it was like I had two different hair cuts going on at once and the stylist next to mine and that client were having a conversation that could offend others. The experience was pretty pricey and not worth it. Once my hair was fixed, I was talking to someone who complimented me on this "fixed" cut and I mentioned that this version was a correction from a stylist at Capristo salon and a person overhearing this chimed in that she got a hair cut by this same stylist at this same salon the day before and her layers were not blended as well (my hair is shorter and hers is longer). I hate to name names as everyone has a bad day or days but I would just urge caution! Next time, I don't think I will make an appt with someone based on reviews, I will need to see their work in person! I am on Citysearch today in reference to the comment that was written about me on October 18 by one of my clients, NicoleA20. I want to extend a formal apology to you that your final product was not what you envisioned. There may have been some miscommunication between what you and I both pictured for the final result. As for leaving the bleach on a long time, my first concern is always the integrity of the hair. If the processing time felt long for the bleach, I would have a good reason for doing so. One of my goals as a stylist for my clients is to inform and educate all of you of what is happening to you during your time with me. That is one of the reasons why I became an educator for L'Oreal Professionel and for my several master degrees in color so that I am always keeping abreast of the latest classes and educating myself for my clients. The reason I am writing on Citysearch is because I would love to extend an invitation to you to come back, so that we can sit down and discuss exactly what your expectations are for your hair and how we would go about attaining them. I could tell you exactly what my thought process was for your last appointment by your detailed client information card that I keep on all my color clients. What would be a great help and tool for us to better communicate when we consult is to have some pictures of hair color that you like and dislike to use as a reference point. I have went to Kim a few times for highlights ...she does a really good job and takes her time but the past couple times I went she didn't really listen to what I wanted. She also left the bleach in a really long time without checking them...There were very very white then! more

I heard about Shelly's Brazilian wax techniques so I drove 2 hrs to see her. I had waxes before that were not great. Shelly met all my expectations. She was so fast and missed nothing. Never have I had the results that I have from Eileen. She is an amazing Massage Therapist and I would tell everyone and anyone that it is a mistake to not experience one of her massages! I am a football, soccer and sometimes baseball player and she has saved my sporting career! She has done wonders with my injuries in just an hours time! I have had massages from numerous therapists in the area. Until now it was always a search for someone who could actually do something for my aches and pains. No longer am I searching! I wouldn't waste my time or money going anywhere else. The whole experience is always great. Her personality rocks! The atmosphere is calming and relaxed in the new spa. I had orange hair due to dying my hair out of a box and kim performed miracles. Not 100 percent but it is close and am excited to see my hair after one more time. Very skilled! more

Anita has been doing my hair for over a year now. She is the absolute best! She has an amazing personality and is so much fun to talk with that I really look forward to every appointment! She worked with me to find the perfect red (and for anyone who goes red you all know this is truly difficult) and has made sure to keep my formula written down so it will be perfect every time. She colored my hair right before my engagement pictures and when I felt it was still a tich too bright, she came in early to put a rinse on me so that it would be perfect for the pictures. In July she did my hair and my bridal party’s hair for my wedding. It was a COMPLETELY stress FREE experience. My hair was gorgeous and I have gotten a million times more compliments on my hair than anything else I had on that day! Seriously I think most people liked my hair more than my dress! She really listens to what you are looking for and the hair styles my bridesmaids had chosen REALLY fit all of their personalities and were all so different and unique. She is truly an artist! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! I also went to her to donate my hair after my wedding and she did an amazing job! I donated 11 inches and my post-donation cut is SUPER cute!! LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!!! I also went to Lydia for my pre-wedding waxing and she is awesome. That woman is a stray hair's arch enemy! It was my first professional massage and the masseuse made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I was nervous at the beginning but by the end of it I wanted to come back and do it some more. You will find places with cheaper prices but I think Capristo is worth the extra money. I'll definitely be back, and I'm telling everyone I know. I went to Capristos for a cut and went to Dana based on the reviews I read here. She did not disappoint. She did a fabulous job on my hair- I've gotten tons of compliments on it since I got it done. Very rarely do I ever leave a salon looking presentable. I have thick wavy hair that takes a long time to dry and straighten and stylists usually don't take the time to make it look right. Dana took the time needed to do an excellent job. Also, while I was there another stylist asked her for advice on a color and I take that as a good sign that she knows what she's doing and is respected by her coworkers. I'm so pleased and will definitely be going back to her. more

Lydia does a Brazilian wax that is is very quick, virtually painless, and clean in a matter of 15 minutes. She is a seasoned professional and I hope she never leaves the salon. The rest of the staff is super friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this salon to anyone. Pros: Friendly, full service salon more

I have been seeing Dana for a few years now and i just have to say she never steers me wrong. Recently i was ready for a change from the style i have been rockin for a while now. Dana was on it and took charge and made me feel so comfortable and so excited for the impending change. She gave me the best RED i have ever seen and the cut was just enough to make me feel really great. I never doubted her for a minute bc she is a total professional and so creative. Im just so happy and i have never gotten more compliments on hair, and what girl doesn't want that! Pros: great color, great cut , great shampoo and FUN! I never really understood why a person should pay more than $40 for a haircut. I would never go to Supercuts, but I never wanted to splurge on a haircut because I figured that a $35 at one salon would be about the same as a $60 at another. I learned how wrong I was when I went to Breanne!! At first I was apprehensive because she gave me a fairly different style from what I am accustomed to. But she reassured me that if i wasn't comfortable with it, I could come back to get it redone at no cost. But, she knew her stuff! I LOVED it! I will definitely go back to her in the future. I went to Capristo not knowing what to expect, but when i walked in i felt very welcome. All the workers were very kind. Breanna is excellent. I was going from a blonde to a brunette and she talked me through the whole process. I liked how before she even started she wanted to know exactly what color brunette i would like to be. The next time i went in, my hair was still damaged from dying it blonde so much but she new exactly what to do to make sure my hair was getting healthier. She does an excellent cut and color job. I highly recommend breanne, you will not walk out unhappy! more
