my husband and i love caffe gelatto. we were married in italy and enjoy dining here as the gelatto is authentic and a lovely reminder of a beautiful country. the wine selection is spectacular...enjoy the half price wine bottle night. the food is quite tasty with a consistent mediterranean palette, to include special ravioli of the day, etc. and they are very clever with marketing tools. once you've dined here, you truly feel a part of the restaurant ""family."" you will receive free birthday and anniversary dinners and great lunch deals. Pros: validated parking behind restaurant...lovely street cafe seating as well as inside Cons: can be busy so call ahead for seating...also A LOT of alcohol oriented events, problem if you are not comfortable in that setting more

Delicious food, great service. Owner is very visible and wants your dining experience to be the best it can be. Lunch and dinner are equally delicious. You never fell rushed through your meal as you do in many busy places. Desserts are especially delicious and inventive. Food is always hot and well presented. more

This is a great place to meet for a lunch or dinner. I would recommend making reservations because the seating can be limited. They offer good service and they always are sending out cards for half price lunch and free birthday dinners. You can't beat that! Their panini sandwiches are my personal favorite and the circle booths are a really nice touch! more

I love Cafe Gelattos and the best thing about them is that they love their customers not to mention they have great food. They give regular lunch specials and even send you something special for your birthday. The parking is bad on main st. but they validate your parking for the lot which is right behind them. The gelatto is good too but I am usually too stuffed with the great food to get one everytime I go but when I do get one I am sufficiently stuffed and happy!! One of the best things about Cafe Gelato is their genuine appreciation of their customers. Through friendly chit, chat to dinner specials to promotional mailings they really reach out to their customers. If you have any concerns, please speak up and they will address it. I mean it, they will. It is important to them that you have a great dining experience. \r Beyond that, the food is outstanding. It is well presented and always delivered hot. There is always a good variety and their soups are unique and great tasting. We have always had great beef and fish meal. They also serve a great salad with funky bread sticks. \r There was a time when I did not like the meal (sirloin tip pasta dish). The meal was right, I just did not like it. The waitress without question, asked me what I would like done differently, they did it and they offered free dessert. \r The atmosphere can be a little noisy and seating is a bit close especially on a promotional night. We love to go to Caffe Gelato for our Birthdays. Getting old is scary but once you get seated at a cozy table, you tend to forget about your age and focus on the wonderful atmosfere and good aroma of food and bread. The service is excellent and everyone works as a team, always helping eachother to serve the guests. That is so good to see.\r \r There's always parking in the back and it is free, thanks to Caffe Gelato. All you need to do is get to Caffe Gelato and they do the rest. We have never left there feeling dissapointed nor hungry.\r \r My husband loves the selection of icecream and will not leave until he got a couple of scoops. \r We are hooked and love to celebrate our special times with the staff at Caffe Gelato. We just moved to Newark from California, and this place makes us feel at home. The food is fantastic, the specials are amazing, and the wine list is fabulous. Plus, the service is out of this world. If you haven't gone to one of their wine dinners, you absolutely must!! We get pampered, served wonderful and creative meals, and the wine flows generously. And all for a reasonable price. A night at Caffe Gelato starts with a decision as to menu choice. Always fresh, nicely presented and delicious. Brian German is the force behind this experience and he has a most positive, friendly demeanor, making all feel special. We love this restaurant. We don't go out much, but when we do, it is always Cafe Gellato. I love their customer service, the charm of the facility and the food. I am also impressed with their marketing. I love the birthday and anniversary coupons we get in the mail. It is not the best place for kids, but for a date or small group, it is perfect!!!! I love this restaurant. I was turned on to it by my friend at one of there wine tasting dinners. I don't think I have missed one since. The wine dinners seem to be a great bargin for us and the food is very unique and good. I have only been to the wine dinners and can say the service is wonderful also. It is a quaint restaurant that will treat every customer as it is there only one. more

This is one of my favorite lunch spots. The panini are delicious but other items are equally tasty. Save room for dessert because the homemade gelato, in a wide variety of flavors, is wonderful. My favorite flavor is straciatella (Italian Chocolate Chip)! Pros: Great food and nice atmosphere. Cons: Parking is behind the bank next door. The restaurant validates. Once you figure all this out it works well more
