Best

Crown theatre is a great theatre. Prices are reasonable/ They have alot of parking so that should never be a problem. The neighborhood is a little sketchy so I wouldnt hang around...

Worst

I prefer to go to Blue Back Square, Bloomfield or Plainville over this theatre. This is nice and big and lots of movie choices, but like others have said, the staff isn't always ...

Its not in a dangerous neigherhood.. 7/13/2009

Never in the ten years have I ever expereinced a problem concerning my safety. Its the snobs who expect the theater to be a beverly hills accomdation. more

Not the greatest, not the worst 7/1/2009

I prefer to go to Blue Back Square, Bloomfield or Plainville over this theatre. This is nice and big and lots of movie choices, but like others have said, the staff isn't always pleasant - Gingerkiss, yes, they should be nice, that's their job too. So what if they have to clean and serve popcorn. Shouldn't work with customers if they can't be pleasant. Management's fault for hiring and not training well. If they offered more $$ per hour, they'd probably get a better pool of employees. Pros: Off highway, large theatre, lots of choices for movies Cons: Not the greatest neighborhood, not the nicest staff more

It's the city, what do you want? 6/1/2008

This theater does not have the most polite or educated work staff but do they have to? These folks sweep, scoop up popcorn, clean crud off the floor and hand you a receipt. They don't need to be nice people - they just need to speak spanish (and english is a plus). Not the best neighborhood but not the worst either. The customers who visit this theater can be just as bad as the people who work here; hollering through the entire movie, talking on their cell phones, young girls starting fights with senior citizens - not a good place to be in the dark. I won't go to this theater unless my son goes with me; he is 26, 5' 10"" and 190 pounds of muscle. The movies offered are the same as every other theater. The highest price I've seen is $11. Now I just get Netflix. Pros: close to some good restaurants Cons: rude customers, rude workers, high crime area. it's the city, what do you want? more

atmospehere; like service.....cold 5/27/2008

I live a short distance from this theater, but I choose to drive to other locations. The employees are apathetic at best, and at worst hostile. I tried to use a gift certificate for the Crown Theater; I wasn't aware they'd changed hands. The person selling tickets very rudely told me these were worthless, and tossed them in front of me. The clientele isn't much better, they are mostly young, loud and rude. Just not an enjoyable environment. Pros: Close to home Cons: Very uninviting atmosphere more

Prices are a bit less, but your car and safety are questionable 5/8/2008

I used to go to this theater quite often when it went by the name of ""Crown"" because of the good matinee values (prices went up under new management, but they may still be slightly less than some other nearby theaters). Just last weekend I went there and when I came out, my car smashed into with items stolen (thousands more in damages to the car than the items were worth). Theater management were unresponsive and would not even lend me a broom to clean out glass from the seats. As I left the parking lot, I realized what a poor choice I made. There were other parking spaces with constellations of telltale broken autoglass indicating that break-ins are common there. The manager confessed that his car was also broken into there. Other bad signs were the people going to this theater with tinted car windows, loud rap music, and trash littered everywhere. Hartford Police weren't very interested either - my guess is that they have a lot more serious crimes to deal with. This experience shows how important it is to be alert to one's surroundings and avoid problem areas. Strangely, I actually had an uneasy feeling before going into the movie but I ignored it. Next time I'll trust my instincts. I am grateful that at least I wasn't hurt. Going forward I will definitely be happy to pay higher ticket prices for more safety. Good Luck! Pros: Prices are a bit lower Cons: Car break-ins, lack of safety, and bad neighborhood more
