Stayed in Seattle for a day en-route to Alaska cruise and was suggested this by a pharmacist at a local Walgreens. Being Jewish we wanted kosher food and this place was perfect. ...

hardly go back there to have that kind of food again. First of all, all meals have broccoli only as a side dish. we had stir fry with broccoli, hot pots w broccoli. So my recommen...

Yes, thanks! 7/31/2003

The fake meat is great, if you're vegan. Meat eaters know it's not meat..but many love it anyway! Many of the dishes are similar, so order by selecting the main ingredient you would like and working from there. Three items I suggest: 1. Chicken with Snow Peas and nuts (this is FABULOUS!) 2. Gourmet Chow Mein (I have them add black bean sauce..soooooo tasty!) 2. A soup with vegetables. The "Daily Soup" is a thick creamy soup without much flavor. I get it anyhow, because I love the red chili sauce they have at every table.. you add a little of that and it's a tasty creamy treat! more

Mmm . . . tofu. 3/18/2003

Downright decent vegan chinese food, but not the best that I have had. I enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken quiet a bit, but the non-fried dishes were surprisingly disappointing. It's worth a visit, though. more

Amazing Vegetarian Food 2/5/2003

The servers are not great, but have never been rude to me, just aloof. The food is the best tasting Chinese I have had. I took my meat-eating parents and they both loved it. I would definitly recommend the sweet and sour chicken and the almond fried chicken. YUUMMM. Do not order the drinks unless you don't mind them watered down. Pros: taste, value, free parking Cons: lighting-too bright, bad drinks more

Great vegetarian food 12/15/2002

Great vegetarian food, nice people running the place. I've been going to the Bamboo Garden for years and it's always been great. The wide selection of soups and appetisers is wonderful. They get rather busy Friday nights and some Saturday nights, so reservations are a good idea those times. Any other times are usually fine to walk in and sit down. They have their own free parking lot which is a significant in this part of town. Pros: great selection, wonderful selection more

Pushy hosts 11/17/2002

Slow service even on a Sunday evening, and inhospitable ambiance for children. The food was decent but the hosts had too much attitude. Dont plan to take my kids there again. Pros: Alternative to meat, good parking location Cons: Meat is more tasty, rude hosts more

Absolutely the Best 8/2/2002

The variety, awesome flavors, and absolutely healthy cuisine make this one of the true gems in the entire city of Seattle. I recommend the Almond Fried ""Chicken,"" the Five Spicy Treasure, and the Stewed ""Beef"" in Curry Sauce. All are awesome. A large group of friends were introduced to this place for a birthday celebration, and all were stunned at how much they liked it (and they don't count themselves among the ""healthy eater"" crowd). Finally, as a very frequent visitor, I can say that the consistency of the food is excellent, and the staff are unusually friendly and sweet (just don't expect the fake, ""plastic"" type of service that pretentious people seem to demand. These people are real). Pros: Quality and Variety, Consistency, Tasty AND Healthy more

Fantastic food! All of the variety of Chinese meat dishes are here, but they are vegan. And you would never know it!!! I've taken so many non-veggie's here, and they all love it. Best of all, it's incredibly inexpensive! The atmosphere isn't the most elegant, but it's a great spot for a quick, cheap lunch! They have their own parking lot downtown, so it's easy to slip in and out! Pros: Incredible food., Huge variety., Very inexpensive. Cons: So so interior. more

good food, bad service 5/27/2002

I had the worst service at Bamboo Garden and was totally surprised that this happened in a Seattle restaurant. The older male waiter would not speak to me and instead asked my boyfriend everything. "Sir, what would you like to drink, Sir, have you decided, etc." When "Sir" answered for himself, the waiter started to walk away instead of looking at me. I was never acknowledged as "Miss" or as anything else for that matter. When my boyfriend asked for chopsticks for the two of us, of course they were presented to him first, as was the menu, food, etc. As I have never experienced this type of ignoring at a Chinese restaurant, I won't chalk it up to cultural differences, but rather I'd say it was a rude waiter. While the food was good, I will never go back! Pros: free parking Cons: bad service more
