Great food, delicious sweets and gracious staff. 3/18/2011

I don't live nearby but a family member does. Everytime we visit, we stop in for breakfast or lunch and always grab some pastries to go. The food has always been fresh, cooked to order and the portions are perfect. The sweets!!! I have a sweet tooth like you read about and I have never been disappointed. The owner has - on more than one occasion - thrown in something extra for the kids to try. Always a very nice place to go. Oh and the gelato is yummy too!! more

Best place in town 3/6/2011

The best bread around. the chicken sandwich is so tasty... the onion soup in a bread bowl...delicious, and you can even buy just the bread, make your own sandwich at home. clean and courteous. more

remember the good food!! 2/21/2011

If you remember the great food that this bakery used to serve, and miss the awesome chicken and rice soup, or the fantastic eggplant parm, or any of the other food that they used to serve before they went downhill. Then you need to email this guy. He is the old chef and he makes all your old favs and more, he delivers, and everthing is fresh and made to order. Great prices too! Awful 2/12/2011

The service here is atrocious, which is an obvious reflection of the relatively new owner. I was told I couldn't use my computer all day--which was ironic since I wasn't even planning on setting up shop there. I just had my laptop open while I was STILL eating the owner tells me I can't stay there all day. I hadn't even finished my food! Here's the deal, they advertise free Wi-Fii! Even though I wasn't hanging out there, I was allowed to. She was rude and insulting. When I confronted her, she could have cared less. I agree, this place does not deserve your money. more

STAY AWAY 11/29/2010

A $7.50 Reuben should not be charge $.50 for a side of Thousand Island dressing. They serve crap and treat you like crap. A chicken wing has more meat than their sandwiches. So does Subway. Advice to you - go to Subway instead of this rathole. more

Worst Place in Natick 11/14/2010

If you want to be treated like crap, eat food that tastes like crap, in a place where there is crap all over the place, then this is your haven! I can't fathom why anyone would ever go there where the owner is so nasty to her customers. more

The worst place for cakes & for service 10/19/2010

If there was a way to give up negative stars I would. The owner of this place is horrible. She charged me more then was listed on the price sheet & told me it was because of the colored work on the cake. I brought in my on cake topping & still got charged more. I was told that I could pick my cake up at 9AM & got there & it wasn't ready until 10:30. I called to complain to the owner about the service & price & she actually hung on me. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PLACE. The owner doesn't deserve your morney. more

DO NOT GO HERE! 9/12/2010

Are you considering Bakery on the Common? If so, think again. This establishment is by far the worst place in terms of quality, service and price I have ever seen. It is so bad, I went out of my way to sign on to Yelp and write this review. Please note; I am typically a person who does not complain about restaurants. Today, about 1 hour before my son's birthday, my wife and I went to pick up our son's custom made $105 1/2 sheet cake. Upon arrival, we were shown a lopsided monstrosity of a cake with the wrong color and design. When seeing the cake, my son's first words were, ""why is there a princess (girl) on my cake???"" My first reaction was to speak with the baker. To my surprise, there was no baker, no manager and no way to fix the cake. With 50 minutes to go, until our guests arrive, the staff informed there was nothing that can be done to fix the cake. When i asked to speak with the manager, the staff disappeared and called the owner. We asked if they would provide us with some icing to fix the cake ourselves. They refused. At this point my wife asked to get on the phone directly with the owner. The owner said, ""I am not going to give you any icing. Either take the cake as is or leave it."" My wife asked how Bakery on the Common could sell a slanted cake, the owner hung up the phone. Other customers in the store we appalled that an establishment calling itself a bakery would even consider selling a customer a cake that looked like a slanted mound with the wrong design. They even commented that Bakery on the Common used to be good. In the end, with 35 minutes to spare, I took my family to the near by grocery store where I purchased a 1/2 a sheet cake with a semi-custom design for $33. I learned that this same grocery store supplied some of their designs directly to Bakery on the Common (some mark-up)! Bottom line - they have lost a regular customer for LIFE. I plan to share this story with as many friends within my network. Do not step foot in this bakery/cafe. Buyer beware. more

Worst Bakery Ever. 9/11/2010

Bakery on the Common in Natick, MA is probably the worst cafe I have ever been to. I really wish I could give negative stars for this cafe. I keep trying to go back to actually enjoy the food, but I never do. I once ordered a sausage, egg and cheese burrito and was summarily disappointed. Honestly, how do you fail on such an easy task? It's sausage. Chicken Caesar wrap - Poorly made, loose wrap with bland chicken and weak dressing. Pastries! I love pastries. Well these pastries LOOK great, but taste more like marzipan and shortening then a light and fluffy pasty. The cupcakes are stale and have no taste besides the cheap ingredients they use. Turkey Sandwich, eh,. it was ok. But, stale bread at a bakery, come on! Ok, I can forgive the terrible food if I am hungry, but let's talk about the service. One of the surly ""barrista's"" at the counter is one of the most misanthropic people I have ever met and scoffs at any request that you make (could you tell me what kind of coffee you have?). He throws the coffee at you and turns his head away in discontent while he shoves his mitt in your face to take your cash (no credit card under $5). Perhaps I am mistaken but this person clearly needs either a vacation or to get laid. There are however a few nice ladies that work weekday mornings and one nice guy. You can't use your laptop on the weekends, and even when you can there are few outlets and the signal is weak (on purpose). You have to elbow your way through a bunch of angry suburban Mom's to get your crappy overpriced food and then pay 20% more than other other coffee shop to eat it. This place has no redeeming value and I hope no one ever goes back. Oh and don't trust the prices on the board, they sometimes charge you a different price at register. more

Avoid this place 12/15/2009

I do not know if this establishment is under new ownership, but the they have gone down hill fast. Every order I have placed has been wrong. They can not make a simple ham sandwich. You tell them no pickles and they put pickles. If you have a food allergy be very careful. Other people in our office have gone there and the orders are always screwed up. They are a little on the high side, the quality is there but not worth paying the price when they can not get it right. It used to be a great place. I was going there for years with my children, I just don't know what happened. Pros: Quality, Selection, Clean Cons: No apology for mistakes, incorrect orders every time, price more

Don't go if you have children 9/29/2008

The Bakery on the Common used to be a very warm, family friendly place. The new owner, Marina Jorge, has quickly changed that. She is rude and dismissive and has raised the prices on everything. We will not go back there any more. I recommend Java Joe's or the little place next to the Dolphin. Cons: New owner more
