Businiess name:  Bakery On The Common

Review content:
Are you considering Bakery on the Common? If so, think again. This establishment is by far the worst place in terms of quality, service and price I have ever seen. It is so bad, I went out of my way to sign on to Yelp and write this review. Please note; I am typically a person who does not complain about restaurants. Today, about 1 hour before my son's birthday, my wife and I went to pick up our son's custom made $105 1/2 sheet cake. Upon arrival, we were shown a lopsided monstrosity of a cake with the wrong color and design. When seeing the cake, my son's first words were, ""why is there a princess (girl) on my cake???"" My first reaction was to speak with the baker. To my surprise, there was no baker, no manager and no way to fix the cake. With 50 minutes to go, until our guests arrive, the staff informed there was nothing that can be done to fix the cake. When i asked to speak with the manager, the staff disappeared and called the owner. We asked if they would provide us with some icing to fix the cake ourselves. They refused. At this point my wife asked to get on the phone directly with the owner. The owner said, ""I am not going to give you any icing. Either take the cake as is or leave it."" My wife asked how Bakery on the Common could sell a slanted cake, the owner hung up the phone. Other customers in the store we appalled that an establishment calling itself a bakery would even consider selling a customer a cake that looked like a slanted mound with the wrong design. They even commented that Bakery on the Common used to be good. In the end, with 35 minutes to spare, I took my family to the near by grocery store where I purchased a 1/2 a sheet cake with a semi-custom design for $33. I learned that this same grocery store supplied some of their designs directly to Bakery on the Common (some mark-up)! Bottom line - they have lost a regular customer for LIFE. I plan to share this story with as many friends within my network. Do not step foot in this bakery/cafe. Buyer beware.
