I had 2 service or sales men come to my home on 4/24/13 to perform a maintenance check on my Carrier AC system. They took apart the system in my garage and showed me that the evaporator coils had rusted, and then they said they found a leak with their catchy little leak detector. Then, they checked my compressor & told me that i only had about 45 refrigerant in the system, so there HAD to be a leak. They felt I needed to either replace the system with a new one to the tune of $8,462 or repair & replace the evaporated coils that were rusty to the tine of $2,755.. NOT!!! I hired an independant AC specialist with 40 plus years of experience and he came & checked the entire system, and used a top of the line leak detector and low & behold, NO LEAKS, AND the system was not low in refrigerant. He also said the evaporator coils are normally supposed to be rusty, and there was no need to do anything with our system because it is perfectly fine!!!!! We have been running our system since the end of April now with no problems. So And Services, it seems like you were out for one thing on your free maintenance check.....OUR MONEY!! Don't bother coming back to this neighborhood any time soon! more
