Best

I was taking my three cats to Barbur Veterinary Hospital and although I love Dr. Ewing, my family was very disappointed with their customer service/receptionists, so I started loo...

Worst

My Cat was diagnosied with IBD in September and we were seeing a wonderful Vet across the street. I decided to make a change ONLY because I thought the enviorment would be better...

I strongly recommend you do NOT take your pets here. I feel lied to, taken advantage of and totally violated. They may as well have just stolen my f***in' wallet!!! 9/22/2007

I took my cat here for her 1st visit on a Friday about two weeks ago for an exam, vaccine updates & grooming. I dropped her off early in the morning & returned to pick her up that afternoon. When I arrived, I was told she was dehydrated, that they were concerned about her kidneys & that she was too stressed & aggressive, so they would have to sedate her in order to do the grooming. Since they're only there partial days on Saturday, closed on Sunday & wanted one full week day to monitor her due to the dehydration, etc & wanted to run bl00d work to determine the extent of her health problems, I agreed to leave her there until Tuesday. The vet called me that morning to inform me that my cat essentially had some kind of virus, nothing serious. I returned to pick her up on Tuesday evening, to find that I'd been charged over $600!!! They had run tests on her that they had never even mentioned to me, like FIV. They sent me home with 2 medications, an antibiotic & an immune system stimulant. When I called the next day to discuss the charges with them, the woman I dealt with was completely rude & unprofessional. I was so upset about being treated that way, I had a family member call in. That family member was given a completely different story about the health concerns. I decided that if there were more serious health issues I'd move forward with the health care. I took her in today for a follow-up appointment: exam & bl00d draw to be sure the meds are helping improve her health. They put a muzzle on her & because she struggled when they tried drawing the bl00d, they said they couldn't do it. Of course she struggled, she's a CAT!!! They want me to bring her in on Monday, leave her there so they can get the bl00d by pricking the cat's foot pad (apparently ""really time consuming""? Whatever!). Due to my work schedule this is impossible. I had an appointment today to get bl00d work done. What kind of vet can't get bl00d from a cat? I paid the $55 bill today & left in tears. Pros: Cute, friendly cats hanging out in the lobby Cons: Everything else! more

Pushy Salesman, Not a Vet 4/25/2007

My husband and I have been searching high and low for a new vet for our cat. We thought that a all cat clinic would be wonderful - and then we went there. We came in for specific reasons (our kitty has a history of cancer and needs regular check ups), and the first thing we were told was that she needs her teeth cleaned. Then we were told to give her all of her shots over again (which had been done about 4 months prior), to test her for feline leukemia, get the FIV vaccine, and microchip her in case she gets lost. I tried very hard to explain to the vet that our cat is strictly indoor, that she never comes in contact with other animals, let alone other cats, and that she doesn't even like the thought of being outside. She is 13 years old and has never attempted to run away - why does she need a microchip or an FIV vaccine, or any of the rest of it? She doesn't. \r \r They were pushy, and so clearly trying to sell things to us. \r \r No thanks. Our cat is our much loved companion - not money in the bank for a vet. more

Never again 10/22/2006

Bar far the worst place i have ever been in my life. Not only does the hospital smell like nothing but old cat urine when you walk in , there in no quality in the care. I have never felt my cat was so neglected and miss treated. I will forever tell EVERYONE NOT TO GO HERE!!! On top of that it took them days to fax the exam findings to a new vet. Cons: HORRIBLE CARE, BAD CAT TREATMENT, NOT A GOOD PLACE more

They love drugs too much! 1/23/2006

I like the Cat Clinic but the doctors just go overboard. These guys would be better ""robot mechanics"" than vets. First, they love to perscribe a lot of drugs. Also, they do not consider the emotional health of the cat. For example, they wanted to give my 16 year old cat a feeding tube because she did not eat for 48 hours. We took the cat home (over their objections) and the cat started eating immediately! I think this is a good place, but please do NOT let them boss you around. If you think their advice is bad, you MUST stand up and tell them your opinion. Pros: Skilled, Cats Only, Professional Cons: Expensive, Cat = machine, Bossy more

A little fishy 9/11/2005

My cat has had recurrent UTIs and has always gotten satisfactory treatments from our old vet. This vet recommended my cat stay overnight for four nights--with reasons not clearly known. They have nobody there to care for the animals after closing. I took him home against recommendation after two days with them telling me he had ""loose stools"" due to the antibiotic. He was so lethargic, his tongue was sticking out and he stared into space for about 10 hours. He would not eat or drink. The ""loose stools"" were actually full blown diarrhea, accompanied by vomiting. I took him to a 24 hour emergency clinic. They recommended we stop all medications. Their antibiotic had caused diarrhea, and he had also been given a very potent sedative. I feel my cat was extremely over-medicated. The bill was not itemized clearly. The antibiotic sent home had NO NAME on it. more
