This morning I turned on my tv and it was bright red. I called Ableman expecting to have it need to be repaired. He simply told me how to fix it and the problem was solved. I will take all my tv repair business to Ableman and recommend them to people. more

These guys are great! We brought in our 5-year-old Visio TV about mid-afternoon and were able to pick it up before they closed at 6. We were lucky. The problem was not difficult to diagnose and the parts were in stock. I really appreciated that the guys took the time to explain what went wrong and why it was a good idea to fix our set rather than replace it. If I'm ever in the market for another TV, I'll shop Ableman's inventory of solid high quality used sets before I buy another low-end new one. There is a reason Ableman TV gets consistently good reviews. more

My 6 year old LG Plasma suddenly went blank. I had a TV repair place come out, I think it was Wolf's? That cost me $85 for them to tell me it was a y-sus board and it would run me close to $500 to repair it. You can buy a new TV for $500 these days. I put the TV on Craigslist for $100, Abelman said they would give me $50. so I hauled the TV over to them and when I got there they said I might as well have them look at the board and see if they could repair it, not replace it. Long story short, they actually repaired the board for $250 and now I have a new TV again. If you have a problem with your TV see if they can fix it before you spend the money on a new one. Good guys. more

Have a 42"" Samsung TV. Took it in after the picture went out. 24 hrs and $125.00 later my TV is as good as new. I strongly recommend this place. I'm a customer for life now. Thank you. It's been almost 2 months since I got it repaired. I meant to write a review right away. more

Incredible service here. On 7/9/2012, we discovered our Mitsubishi 73"" DLP TV would not turn on, and had a red light on for the LAMP. Had white dots all over the screen for months already, and was told by retailers as well as other people that the TV was not worth repairing. So, went shopping for for a new TV, and found the next model up to be more than I can spend. Called Ableman from an online search for DLP Lamps. Asked about it, and Rex gave me a bunch of info on the phone, as well as told me the mirrors causing the dots could be replaced for $325! Brought the TV in that afternoon, and arrived at 5:30PM, just before closing. Talked to him & his tech, and they decided that they could finish the job for me in an hour... rather than me driving back up the next day from Clackamas. The picture looks as good as a new TV. These people allowed me to essentially buy a ""new"" TV for $460!! I will always call these guys for TV service! more

It is hard to find an electronic shop that you can trust because they can tell you anything is wrong and you have no way of knowing if that is correct. Ableman TV found a small chip that was shorted and actully fixed it at a descent price saving me 50 bucks over having to buy a new board. Any savings today is very much appreciated and I will always use him more

I have been utilizing Rex's services 5/18/2012

I have been utilizing Rex's services ever since we moved to Vancouver. He has always given me the inside story on everything, been reasonable in his charges and perhaps most importantly, when he fixes something, it stays fixed. He's fixed tvs, vcrs, dvd players, and he currently has my antique AM tube radio, which finally failed a few years ago. About five years ago, I brought him my vintage Concept tuner/amplifier. I had used it since I bought it in 1978. An outstanding electronic instrument, it finally needed some major work. Rex replaced every capacitor in it with new, better than original ones. This amp is set up with my stack of rebuilt JBL Monitors and a couple ESS Satillites. It rocks and provides better than theater sound whenever we watch a film. Over the years, I have found Rex to be personable, honest, and motivated with passion for clarity and fairness in the crazy world of consumer electronics. If you want a down to earth, great neighborhood business like his to continue to be available to our community, take your business to Rex and his able associate, Gordon. Not only is it the right thing to do for you, it is patriotic ;-) (okay, whatever). No kidding, you will be glad to have a guy like Rex on your side when your coping with your entertainment equipment problems and choices. more

Couldn't be happier! Ableman was 4/2/2012

Couldn't be happier! Ableman was recommended to us by a trusted friend. When our TV bulb burnt out and the replacement part from Sears didn't work we brought the old bulb, the new bulb, and the TV in to figure out what wasn't working. They were respectful and the service was outstanding. They took the time to check it out while we waited and showed us how to prolong the life of our TV. We actually had to convince them to accept more money than they wanted to charge us!!! more

Fantastic Repair facility! 10/1/2011

I have a 18 month old 37 inch samsung LCD. The picture is gone, but I have sound. I looked at many similar complaints on the web and am a bit of a fix it guy. I narrowed it down to a diode on the power supply board. I called this place and they 1) confirmed there was a known issue with this diode on this board, 2) told me the had the diode in stock, 3) installed the diode for me, and 4) charged me a very reasonable price! The person (assistant) I first spoke with is Gordon. The owner, and the person who did the fix (on the spot) is Rex. These guys totally know their stuff and are awesome. If there is something I can't fix, or need quality used equipment, I will definately go back! more

Excellent TV Repair and Customer Service 3/25/2011

Our 2 1/2 year old LG 42"" TV was fine when turned off then was dead when we tried to turn it back on a few hours later--it had sound but no picture. My daughter in-law called all over to try to get some idea of what the problem could be along with information on approximate repair costs (a $ range) and turn around time. Tom at Ableman TV was the only person that would give her his time to explain what he thought it might be and an approximate cost and turn around time. So we took our TV to them (we live in Portland) and within three days we had it back in working order for $165. We are happy campers and would recommend this shop to anyone needing TV repair. They also have a supply of refurbished TVs that are very reasonable. Read the other reviews--they reflect our great experience. I agree, these guys ROCK! more

Very Responsive and Helpful 3/1/2011

Our five year old SONY TV decided to quit on us one evening and I assumed it would require a repair tech to fix it. Looking at ratings and feedback, I first went to another shop, but after almost 24 hours with no response, decided to try Ableman. My call was picked up by a technician who after listening, suggested it sounded like a lamp issue and advised me that is typically something an owner can replace. He patiently provided detailed guidance as to how to remove the assembly, which I did and brought into the shop. The owner (I think) was at the desk and between answering several calls, was able to find a replacement lamp and installed it for me. He also gave me tips on how to avoid problems when re-installing the assembly into the TV. \r \r While there, I observed he was professional and ethical, in one case advising a potential client the problem he had was not worth repairing due to the age of the TV and the expense to repair it. I'm pretty confident I found a good shop to which I will refer others. more

Honest, Go Out of Their Way Service 1/23/2011

Our Samsung TV lamp died on a Sunday. Why did it have to be on a Sunday? We found Ableman TV & Electronics Service on Bing. The website listed the hours of operation Monday through Saturday. Next to Sunday, it read ""Call for Service."" My husband was skeptical; a burnt out bulb could hardly be considered an emergency - except when you have a three year old and a four year old - then it IS an emergency. When we called, Rex offered to go to the store, make sure he had the right bulb in stock and call us back. An hour later, I'm driving back to Newberg, Oregon with my new bulb. He also gave me some great tips and advice. What a nice man! I will gladly return to Ableman for my next TV purchase or bulb emergency - despite the 49 minute drive. Amazing service...who does that these days? WOW! more

Great local business 12/27/2010

I found them on google, called. They said to come in. I went in with my Samsug sound bar, which had stopped working a year ago. Two men helped me, both friendly. One contacted Samsung on the internet. The other hooked up the sound bar. and found that the optical cable connectig it to the TV was broken. He replaced it with one that worked. The sound bar worked just fine.\r \r They did not charge for service. They sold me a new optical cable for $10. I was on my way after just a few minutes. Excellent!\r \r more
